"You're gonna get a ticket now sooner or later 'cause you cant keep your foot off the accelerator " . "Wow" is the word Lou , this is what I love . Condolences to the family, I remember what it's like to have lost your father so recently.
Amazing! Factory build for speed, nothing was skipped, except "Park...", to make this one go faster than all the rest of the pack. What a great family and a great car! Thanks, Lou!
Thanks, Lou! What a cool and historically important car. The owner, James, undoubtedly knows there is a great book called "We Were the Ramchargers: Inside Drag Racing's Legendary Team" by David G. Rockwell that details the tiny band of Chrysler employees who became one of the most successful and influential drag racing teams of all time. I just got it on loan from a friend and it is fascinating reading.
Hey Lou. This car is a reminder of the super stock Dodge race cars we liked to see in car magazines as kids back then. This beautiful beast has a ready to fight cool but hot look. It sounds like a flaming beast. Thanks for the coverage and our condolences to this family for their loss.
Great looking Coronet Lightweight Race Hemi! We talked to the family on Friday night. We thought it was the same Coronet we detailed at MCACN 2022. Also, it was great to see you, Lou! Thank you for continuously providing great content!
Yeah Lou! Now I'm drooling!! These mid 60's Mopar factory lightweight Hemi cars are in my TOP 5 of favorite cars! What a SPECIAL time it was back then with these factory engineered specimens! I want one so bad! Thanks Lou for the smile with my morning coffee again!
Goodday Lou, What a great family affair, the real deal, what a time to be alive in America & that speech by James regarding America whilst driving summond it up. America at its finest. Lou the fact that 1965 was a one year only that these A990 Special's were factory fitting with Aluminium Heads to save weight. I only wished that Chrysler offered the Aluminium Hemi Head as a option like Chevrolet did with the L89 but it was never to be. Fantastic video Lou, absolutely watching MCACN through your eyes. Cheers Louis Kats your number 1 Fan in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 🇺🇸 👍
Goodday Louis, "America at its finest." High praise :-) Thanks for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Good news! More great cars from MCACN to share with you. Stay tuned :-) Thanks for being my # 1 Fan in Australia. Cheers, Lou
Thanks for posting another excellent Mopar video, Lou! That '65 Hemi Dodge Coronet A990 Lightweight Super Stock is something to behold and it sure is something to hear too!
Hi Jeff, You're right. With only 101 made, this is RARE. My pleasure seeing this one up close, and a treat to share the car with you. You're welcome, Lou
What a striking, and rare, 1965 Dodge Coronet A990 model of only 101 that were manufactured! That fiery red color looks great, and shines as much as its chrome parts. A simple interior but with nice touches, like the chrome-trimmed instruments, or that elegant double-ring steering wheel (obviously everything is designed to save weight). That engine compartment looked like a mirror, as much as its exterior. Since the exhaust pipe is inclined downwards, when he accelerated it seemed like he was going to break the floor! ha ha. Mr. Makris mentioned well that this is American history and innovation. I'm sure his late father's spirit is with them... Great video, and story, Lou!
Just when you think it dont get no better this one comes along . And like the owner, I just love what this car represents . Thanks very much for putting it up Lou.
I’ve thought the 65 Hemi Coronet is the toughest factory race car since, let me think, it would be since about 1965. This car is stunning, no question about it.
Wow this car is awesome! The "sleeper" look have always been my favorite type of hot rods and this killer Coronet is the real deal, as ordered an amazing find, and super rare. Thanks guys, this one is tops!
This one is most deserving of wowies. As usual you located a fantabulous automobile and praise is deservedly outlayed for the auto and the presentation. @@loucostabile

Spectacular drag car! I wonder if they will ever take it out to the strip at a nostalgia event? Folks would love seeing this baby scream down the 1/4 mile! And bless the memory of their late father.

It is a pleasure to enjoy another Race Hemi from 1965. This one is the Automatic version while mine is a 4-speed version & to drive one of these Beasts never fails to put a smile on my face , just as it did for James. @@loucostabile
The holy grail of hemi’s if you ask me. I learned about these cars many years ago from a series called “victory by design” if memory serves. These cars had lightweight body panels, interior panels and pull straps to operate the plastic windows. Im guessing the out the window rollers in when they changed over to glass.
As always, Lou, another one of your great videos. I am hoping to see you at MCACN today to say hello. Btw, there is a beautiful B5 Blue Duster that has a massive blown engine in it. I spoke to the guy. He said his dad was the original owner and it came from the factory with a 225 slant six motor. This is a serious muscle machine. Maybe you could feature it on your channel! All the best!
Hi Vince S, I'm not expected to be at MCACN as it's my Son (and Editors) 19th Birthday today. If he wants to go to the show, I'm there, however that might be unlikely. Looking forward to meeting you soon at another car show. I videoed 22 cars, and I did not get that one, but stay tuned. Glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Very good camera work Lou. I like the fact that you try to get the shot in focus. Only criticism is I understand you have to lead the interview but man let the owner talk. They know these cars very well. That is why they own them. Don’t forget when you shut the door to use only the handle not the painted surface. Thx
I’m trying imagine a car salesman back in 1965 listening the these men talk about the car like cigar aficionados or Sommeliers, describing this it. They would have been like, “Yep she’s a runner!” Completely bewildered by the dialogue of course, only interested in the sale. What a fun car it must have been to own back then, obviously now, it’s more of a conversation piece than the latter.
