RIP🙏 Joe Bonsall❤ Thank you Jay and Amber for honoring Joe and his bandmates⭐
Love The Oak Ridge Boys and The Statler Brothers. Great songs from my childhood
Same here. My favorites from the Statlers are "The Movies," "Do You Know You are My Sunshine," and "How to Be a Country Star."
Yall must be old like me. The first album I owned was The Oak Ridge Boys
R.I.P. Joe Bonsall, my sister died last year of ALS , love light and prayers . Gone but not ever forgotten, what a sweet sweet soul, dance with the angels 👼 Heaven choir gained an amazing voice . Blessings love and smiles ❤️🤗 Iconic group
So sorry for your loss
So sorry to hear about the loss of your sister. I hope she's resting well now.
My condolences on your loss. May they both rest in peace.
I’m so sorry for your loss. My dad passed from ALS as well; what a dreadful disease.
You really need to hear Thank God for Kids. As parents you will love it.
Thank you for the tribute to Joe Bonsall.
December 1980. The Oak Ridge Boys played to a packed LSU Assembly Center. Joe Bonsall was their frontman, their ringleader. "Elvira" had been a massive hit the previous summer. They ended the main portion of their show with it. Richard Sterban's bass shook the building! The crowd was on their feet when the Boys left the stage. The group returned and kicked off their encore with a song they had just recorded......."Bobbie Sue". Jay and Amber, thanks for bringing back that memory. And RIP, Joe Bonsall.....you will be missed!
Dream On. One of their greatest songs. The bass takes the lead on this one.❤❤❤😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
Love that song.
Oh yeah! OH YEAH! Loooove Richard's #1 love song; Dream on. ANYBODYwho has a soft spot for a bass voice....WILL fall. A dare anyone out there to say other wise. ;)
Love the Oak Ridge Boys. I have listened to their music all my life and I first saw them back in 2008 or so and just recently in 2022.
Check out “Dream On.” That’s a good one from them. And “Come on in You did the best that you could do.”
You should also check out “Thank God for Kids” and “Ya’ll Come Back Saloon.”
@@MissDaisyDuke01Someday tomorrow we'll smile, But little girl in the meanwhile, Dream On
They started as an incredible "Gospel Quartet", but I just had this was more Miss D.D.,

I’ve always loved Until You from the Bobbie Sue album. It’s another love song with Richard on lead.
"The Y'all come back Saloon", was their big breakthru hit, when they transitioned from gospel to contemporary country. "Thank God for Kids" would really hit you two in the heartstrings.
@cRobSquadReactions5 Just so ya know, my fone got destroyed. I was in a hurry, so I just took what ID At&t threw at me. I used to be BuckyC. I know you're a couple a Okies. That's where the most recent generation of my ancestry comes from. That's why I like you two.
Another song by "The Oak Ridge Boys" you might like is "American Made." If you haven't heard it yet, check it out.
A true gentleman, a great wit, and a real pleasure to meet and know. He'll be missed.
Excellent music. R I P JOE BONSALL❤❤❤❤❤
RIP Joe, and thanks for all the memories...
As deep as that Bass Singer's voice is, it was a shock to learn that as a kid, he had been a boy soprano.
Love the Oak Ridge Boys, one of best groups ever
RIP Joe Bonsall. Heaven gained another fantastic singer.
My parents loved the Oak Ridge boys, both long gone. It makes me smile anytime I hear their songs. I can picture my parents singing and dancing. ❤
Some good Oak Ridge Boys songs: “Little Things”, “The Love Song”, “Thank God For Kids”, “Touch A Hand Make A Friend”, “I Wish You Could Have Turned My Head And Left My Heart Alone”.
Leaving Louisiana is Another great one.
Y'all Come Back Saloon
@@brianmiller6055 YES!!!! OMG I had forgotten about that one 😔
Also: “Doctor’s Orders”, “Sail Away”, “Settin’ Fancy Free”, “Trying To Love Two Women”, Y’all Come Back Saloon”.
Back in 1981, my mother and I saw The Oak Ridge Boys at a local music hall when they were debuting Elvira. We were sitting in the front row with stairs to the stage to the right. At one point after one of their songs, Joe Bonsall came down and shook my mother's hand.
I was there too! Spokane Wa. Saw them several times over the years.
You can't go wrong with the Oak Ridge Boys. So many great songs!
If you want to learn more of who Joe was, catch some of their live performances this evening. Joe was always very funny on stage, between songs. He made seeing The Oaks, a little bit better experience with his great personality. A lot of wet eyes in the country music family, today.
Thank you. My wife and I saw these gentlemen in concert last summer. Joe was sitting for most of the show, but his voice never faltered. RIP Mr Joe.
Great selection! I am a dj on a country station and played this in his honor this morning. R.I.P.
You need to check out Thank God for kids , Leaving Louisiana in the broad daylight and The Baptistism of Jese Taylor and so many more great songs
I was blessed to see them live twice. This is hands down one of my favorite Oak Ridge Boys songs. R.I.P Joe
I saw them twice as well. Might go see them one more time even without Joe.
Condolences to the family and friends of Joe Bonsall upon the news of his passing. He was a very talented peformer and singer who will be missed by country music fans. Also condolences to William Lee Golden and his family upon the passing of his son.
Just about every year, the Oak Ridge Boys would play the Opera House in Galveston, Texas, about an hour away from my home in Houston. I would often buy my mom and me tickets to see them and treat my mom, who loved the band, to a weekend at the beach and then the concert. They always gave a great show, and as it is a rather small concert hall, it often felt like a personal concert. Lots of chatting amongst the band members, telling funny stories, and their great music.
Mom passed in 2014, and I miss her every day. I hope she welcomed Joe to Heaven. He couldn't have been met with a bigger fan. Thank you for listening to this one.
No way. This makes me so sad. My daughter loved Elvira when she was about 4 and we put her on UA-cam mumbling her way through the verses and nailing the chorus. Rest in peace Joe. And ALS too! I’ve lost a grandparent and a good friend to it already. This one hurts a lot.
Joe was SUCH a genuinely nice guy. I talked to him on Twitter several times over the years. It stunned me to hear of his death, cos I had no idea he was sick. ALS is such a cruel way to die. My second cousin, Doug, died from it in 2008.
When I was a kid, I took clogging classes, and 1 year, this was the song we did our recital to. And I remember one year there was an open-air concert at a local park that had a ton of musical acts all performing, including The Oak Ridge Boys. My sister and I went with our dad to see them perform live.
RIP Joe; we will miss you. Do Dream On and Ya’ll Come Back Saloon.
Two of my very favorite songs from the Oak Ridge Boys. Also, I'll Be True To You and Thank God For Kids.
In that cover picture, the guys from left to right are Duane Allen, William Lee Golden, Joe Bonsall and Richard Sterban. The bass is Sturban.
Richard used to sing with Elvis back in the day.
I love your videos! I think it is funny how the Statler Brothers & The Oak Ridge Boys both had 4 guys in the band & they both had a guy with a very deep voice!
not to mention that both groups started out as groups in the Southern Gospel genre.
@@Stuck-In-The-Nostalgia You are right. Good call. I forgot about that!
Rest in peace, Joe Bonsall...William Lee Golden, the guy with the long beard just lost his son also... This group is one of the greats and they've been together a long time... The bass singer Richard Sterban toured with Elvis from 1970 till 1977as a bass singer with Elvis and his gospel group J.D. Sumner and The Stamps... What reaction guys... Keep being awesome!!!...
I forgot about this one! It sounds just like '60s rock and roll. So fun!
I think you would also like The Statler Brothers. They had quite a few hit songs and they were also the back up singers for Johnny Cash.
RIP Joe Bonsall. In my sad rural country life, I've seen three concerts. My first was at the age of thirteen with my parents in Gatlinburg TN where we saw the Oak Ridge Boys... I was hooked❤ they will always be my favorite group!!!!
Love and prayers from western NC❤❤❤❤
So glad they did a show this past December in our house, just before Joe retired. They are Legendary!
RIP Joe Bonsall
Thanks for the tribute for Joe. I've been a fan since the 80's.
Rest in Peace Joe Bonsall🙏🙏 Saw The Oaks live twice, once early, once late in their 50 plus years. The original group formed during World War 2 as a Southern Gospel group. The four guys in this latest version came in starting in the mid 1960s, with Joe Bonsall the last to arrive in 1973. Loved his energy and voice. The group transitioned to Country with these guys, but still maintained their Gospel roots. They sang “Amazing Grace” at President George H W Bush’s funeral. Check out their studio version of that song. Also check out “Settin’ Fancy Free”.
Thank God For Kids by The Oak Ridge Boys should be next...❤❤❤ Then So Fine...❤❤
RIP Joe. I saw them back in the 70's when they were the opening act for Kenny Rodgers and have loved them. Great harmonies.
J says "you're my Bobbie Sue". ❤🥰🥰🥰
It's so sad Joe Bonsall died. I grew up listening to The Oak Ridge Boys. My favorite song of their's is, "Leaving Louisiana In The Broad Daylight." I hope y'all will react to it sometime.
On Dukes Of Hazzard.
and being that Jay and Amber have mentioned several times that New Orleans is one of their favorite places to visit, that song would be right up their alley.
Thank you for doing this. Joe was such great singer and entertainer, as well as an amazing human being. He had to retire from the band in January of this year, and became very active on Twitter (X). He was so good to all the fans of The Oaks. I was so saddened by the news this morning.
@cRobSquadReactions5 Excuse me?
i wasn't a big oakridge boys fan but i would hearing there music on the radio they were huge in the 80's
I am not a country fan at all, but have loved the Oak Ridge Boys since the 70s. My favorite by them is Sail Away. Rest in Paradise Joe.
I hope you'll go back a little further with the Oak Ridge Boys. Song songs like "Sail Away"and "Dig a little deeper in the well" would be a few to check out. RIP Joe 😢
I thought no one would mention "Dig A Little Deeper".
Jay, that was so sweet!! Telling Amber that she was your Bobby Sue. So so sweet. Thank you for the tribute to the Oak Ridge Boys. ❤ You two are a joy to watch. 🙏🇺🇸🌼🌹🌸🍉🌽🍋🍓
Thank God for kids is a whole different vibe. You’ll love it.
Thank you so much for doing this! They were one of my first concerts. RIP Joe Bonsall.
Absolutely a great tribute to Joe Bonsall and the Oak Ridge Boys. ❤
Also shoutout for Dewey Dorough aka "The Sultan of the Sax", who played the saxophone solo on this song and several others for the Oaks and the Charlie Daniels Band
I loved all their voices, and Joe was such a charming man. "I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes " is a favorite of mine out of their fantastic play book.
They have tons of great songs.. I saw them in concert just a couple years ago and they could still sing damn good
I worked security at a theater in the 80s, and the Oak Ridge Boys performed there 3 - 4 times a year. Their Christmas shows were fantastic. Whenever I got posted at a door near the edge of the stage, the bass singer's voice would make my rib cage rattle. It was a weird feeling, probably cost me a bit of my hearing.
Thank you! May the legendary Joe Bonsall rest in comfort. I’m sure that he and Singin’ Steve Sanders are jamming in Heaven tonight.
“I Guess It Never Hurts to Hurt Sometimes “ featuring Joe on the lead is especially touching now that he is gone. A song about memories being all we have left and hearing him singing it is now more emotional than ever.
The Oaks have been hit hard this year. William Lee Goldens son past away last week. Duane Allens wife a few months ago and now Joe. I have saw them many times great Showmen. RIP Joe. I hope you dive deaper into there catalog.
Thank you for reacting to them again, and for honoring Joe Bonsall. The Oak Ridge Boys were such an important part of my childhood with my parents listening to them all the time, but bigger than that - ORB were my first big "real" concert, as in an arena show. It was 1979, I was 11 years old, and Emmylou Harris opened for them. I just looked it up, and evidently tickets cost $8, to see these absolute legends.
Another huge country quartet, you've only reacted to once and you gotta delve into them more - The Statler Brothers. "Flowers On the Wall" is a classic that you've got to hear!
RIP JOE BONSAIL!! LOVE THE OAK RIDGE BOYS!! So sorry to hear of his passing. 💔💔 Thanks for reacting to this one! ANY OAK RIDGE BOYS makes ME HAPPY!
I had the pleasure of seeing them in person multiple times. RIP Joe. 💔. Duane Allen, the other lead singer lost his wife back in March. William Lee Golden, the man with the beard, lost his oldest son just last week.
Thanks for all the great music. RIPJoe❤❤❤
Amazing band from my childhood, thank you for the tribute!!
American made is another song of the Oaks where you can hear his tenor voice. I spent a lot of fun times listening to the Oaks back in the day.😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤
Love this song! Really takes me back.🤍🤎👍✌️
I was lucky in that my dad wouldn't go to concerts, so my mom dragged me along to all of the biggest country and Motown acts at summerfest and the Wisconsin State and Illinois State fairs, the Oakridge boys were always a fun concert!!!
Rest in peace, Joe. "It never hurts to hurt sometimes" would be an ultimate tribute to play for Joe. Other songs are "Love Song", "American Made", "Little Things", " Dancing the Night Away", "Dream On", "Come on in" ( Both of them), "Thank God for Kids", and so much more. But for Amber, "Make a Friend" and "Everyday" carries the message yall give everyday.
My mom loved the Oak Ridge Boys. She took us to their concert at the state fair in Oregon in the 70s. This brings me back. 💕
Great song, Fantastic
Love their song Dream On. Rest easy Joe
For the Oak Ridge Boys, you really should react to a live performance--but an old one, from when the song first came out, not one from 10, 20, or 30 years later. The stage performance was a huge part of the experience and the appeal.
Oakridge Boys Great Choice Great Song! 👍 Peace✌️ and Love❤️ Gary😊
Took these great songs for granted, as a child. I grew up up with the best music.
Man. what memories! Their song Thank God for Kids is a totally different feel, but it will touch the heart of any parent.
Thank you Jay and Amber for this special honor for Joe and his band mates ❤
I like to think that Joe is up in heaven with Elvis gossiping about Richard (bass) who sang with both of them. RIP Joe. 😔
Another classic I had the privilege to sing harmony with my Dad- can't go wrong with them or Statler Bros.✌️❤️
Johnny Cash agreed about "The S.B.'s"
I missed the news that he died. On another note Oak Ridge Boys were my first concert. R.I.P. Joe
they are one of the best quartet
Joe was so full of energy during performances which I saw twice. R.I.P. ❤️
They had a great song called “Take a Lot of River” that I loved.
Good song good reaction
My sisters and I absolutely LOVED this song, when we were kids! So fun!
The “deep voice” is bass singer Richard Sterban who sang backup for Elvis in the 1970s before joining the Oak Ridge Boys.
Was that after J.D.?
@@SouthVARonnie Richard and JD sang bass at the same time with The Stamps Quartet. Search UA-cam for Elvis singing “Lighthouse” and “Bosom of Abraham.” It is a recording of a live jam session. Both Richard and JD are visible and singing.
❤😢😊awesome tribute to Joe may he rip thou he's gone but not forgotten thanks for sharing these I enjoy watching them keep up the great work.
This one screams ROAD TRIP! Wouldn’t that be fun headed out on vacation!
Love this group. R.I.P Joe. My Mother passed from ALS. It's a horrible disease
"Leaving Louisiana In The Broad Daylight", "American Made"
I saw them in concert back in 86 and they put on a great show love it they did 2 shows that night and I was at the 2nd show and was standing in the parking lot waiting to get it and they did Elvira and when Richard hit the last mow mow you could hear it echo
You will also want to listen to "Leaving Louisiana in the broad daylight" and " The Yall Comeback Saloon" Two of my personal favorites. I think you will really like them.
Yes those are terrific songs. Also, Dream On and Sail Away.
Got to see them back in the early 90s. Great show.
God's choir acquired a wonderful member of the eternal choir. We'll see you Joe. You brought me so many memories growing up as a kid in the 70s and 80s. This song is so fun. When I saw them all those times in Minnesota, it was truly a Minnesota hillbilly throwdown. You will forever remain loved, honored and remember, Joe.
Recommendation -- check out a group that inspired this sound, the Coasters, a 1950s-1960s R&B vocal group. "Yakety-Yak," "Western Movies," "Charlie Brown," "TV Fanatic," "It Ain't Sanitary," "Poison Ivy," "Along Came Jones," and my personal favorite, "T'Ain't Nothin' ta Me."
My ex-sister in law is named Bobbie Sue! We always joked around with her with song!
Never knew any of the names of the singers. I was fortunate enough to meet the quartet in 2005. My hometown, Chesaning MI, used to have a long running summer festival, the Showboat Festival, the second week of July. The Oak Ridge Boys performance in 2005 was the final one. Overall the group performed during the festival in 3 different years. This song was about the only other one by this group that I remember. I was not a real big country music listener during 80s. When Elvira exploded that kind of ended it for me. Still - it was cool meeting them in 2005. Very nice outgoing guys who, you could tell, had a genuine love for their fans.😊
Dream on is so WONDERFUL! Definitely do that one. Also Leaving Lousiana is great too
RIP Joe. Grew up with my dad listening to this band and while I was not a country genre fan as a kid I did like the Oak Ridge Boys.
Great song to have an ear worm . I can't get that stuttering baritone out of my head!😂
Seen them in concert years ago, they were fantastic! RIP Joe, you will be missed. So female friday is coming up, please, please, please do Barbara Mandrell. She is so talented. Hope you listen to her, she has many hits, had a tv show and won the Artist of the year.
All right my babies..... I'm only two and a half minutes into this, and those sax chops 🎷‼️💯🔥🔥🔥😎
