There’s a lot of incorrect information here regarding flamboyants and even octopus. Also, to get a flamboyant without a robust live supply of shrimp is negligent and a perfect example of what’s wrong with many people in this hobby. As someone whose raised many generations of metasepia sp. this is disappointing to see.
So, what is an example of this guy’s misinformation on flamboyants and on octopuses. I’d like to research this to see if this channel is worth my time. But you have to provide the name of the video where the misinformation was stated as well. Thank you.
man idk but the fact that he bought the fish without knowing which tank he was going to put them in just bothers me so much both of them could have lived if he just set it up before hand
The system in the octopus room has 6 tanks running all plumbed together. All the tanks were set up and have been for a while. The cuttle inked during the shipping and transportation I may be wrong but it died before I got a hold of it. The other cuttle was immediately taken out of the bag and put into a holding container. So there was no setup of a tank at all. Moving animals between tanks is not out of the ordinary. since most of the animals I keep are solitary creatures and the water chemistry is the same across all the tanks there is virtually zero stress.

I don't understand why you'd support wild caught pet trade. Buying them sight unseen like this was hard to watch. I know it's a dilemma, leave them there to die or try to save them, but the end result was a death anyway and a reward to the animal traffickers. I dunno. When I think of "rescue" I tend to only think of positive effects, but I know sometimes there's a trade-off concerning ethics. Exotics are more for our pleasure than theirs.
If you leave 1 to die (one was already gone?) then the shop owner might not buy any more and thus his supplier might not catch any more (of this species - catch but release due no profit) perhaps saving many more when there is no market for the product.
