Yet when Mike found it, he did not say the secret phrase at the next immunity challenge despite it saying he has to.

I LOVED Maryanne all season long! I was so scared she would be picked off early at the merge but as the season progressed I saw her making it to final tribal council. I thought she may have lost at final 3 but when I started to see Mike bomb it and Maryanne then seeing step up, I knew she was going to win. So glad Maryanne won, it was a bit unexpected but I am so glad she won. Usually my favorite castaways don't make it too far in the merge.
I’m firmly in the camp of Maryanne and Drea’s point about unconscious racism as being one of the smartest moves of this season. It was a great moment to endear her to Drea, who despite her advantages was clearly falling to the bottom as a target, as well as open her up to Chanelle and Rocksroy on the jury, whilst still being seen as a good person by the remaining players by not outright saying it was racist. I think it really helped her clinch the game bc it endeared her to the others, practically locking her in for Drea’s vote in the finale, whilst impressing Chanelle and Rocksroy. And even the point that the only one who took it differently, Jonathan, was the only one to NOT vote Maryanne. While she locked the win with the Omar vote out, I think she low key had the game in hand at Tori’s vote.
For the record, Jonathan only voted for Mike because Mike was his best bro friend (something Maryanne herself acknowledged in one of her interviews) Jonathan knew that everyone else was going to vote for Maryanne and he didn't want Mike to tie with Romeo for 2nd place, so he voted for Mike to ensure that Romeo got a 3rd place finish because when all was said and done, Romeo was the reason why Jonathan lost everything on Day 25- the immunity necklace, the fire making challenge since Romeo was in charge of taking someone with him to FTC and forcing the other two to compete in fire-making. Also Jonathan was proud of his bro friend Mike for killing it in the fire making challenge so he had every reason to vote for Mike. There's nothing wrong with him voting for Mike.
Damn. Maryanne and Drea showing solidarity like that was chilling. Regardless of how either of them played or strategized, I have the utmost respect for both of them standing up for each other like that. They can both hold their heads up high after a moment like that.
I’ve watched Survivor since season 1 and Maryanne is, by far, my all time favourite contestant. Smart, funny and full of joy. I’ve never been as happy to see someone win and, God bless this charismatic young woman in all she does with her life. ❤❤❤
I thought she’d be voted off for being too annoying. Without Jonathan I think she would of been voted off next and I believe if Drea wouldn’t have said that she was playing her idol out loud Maryanne would’ve/ should’ve went home then. Besides that she played a pretty ideal game, made friends and alliances first, stayed under the radar, found idols, and made a move on the biggest threat to increase her jury stock with little time left in the game to make a big move.
I'd watched a couple seasons of survivor out when 41 came out I started really watching and this season specifically got me hooked. I was so invested in so many people. Hai, drea, omer, and more than anyone Maryanne. What a great season. And what an incredible winner.
She played incredibly well, and easily deserved her win. The only somewhat valid point against her is that her big move to take down Omar was largely made possible by Drea sharing information post-vote, something I think most of us strongly believe to be cheating. It was still a good move, though, even if the agency wasn't entirely hers.
Eh the biggest influence to her was Mike or Jonathan telling her about the nullifier, which made her decide it had to be done at 6. But Drea is definitely a factor/influence (if you listened to MO's deep dive, she called it the MacDonalds analogy of influence).
It really still works as a great move, though, since Jonathan and Mike started to worry that Lindsay may save Omar at the last minute and backed away to target Romeo to keep Jonathan safe. Then comes the idea to split the vote so that her extra vote will be what decides it. It makes Lindsay less likely to risk her advantage, leaving Omar vulnerable, and thus eliminated from the game, paving Maryanne’s route to victory so long as she delivered at FTC. And delivered she did.
This is the first season my fiancé and I watched together and his first ever season. So many good castaways. Not my favorite of all the seasons but it’s worth watching!
I understand why they do it, but I really hope they go back to some kind of post show reunion. There's so much less to talk about when they haven't seen the show yet, and know about everything that went on around them. How they feel about their gameplay after time away and reflection, things they wish they did differently, how they feel about the way they came off. Or how the public responded to certain things. It was more interesting this time, with how they broke down the vote, but still.
I’m happy she won, not because of her skin color or that she is a woman, but because of her personality and character, strategy, intelligence, and ability to grow socially.
I think a better title for Mary Anne could of been something like “The Winner for the Weirdos” or something, cuz I feel like she’s referred to herself as something like that several times during the season and in interviews. However the Bunny-line is very iconic during the season Enjoying the video so far!

I think the skeevy race tribal move was 100% drea and she kind of backed maryanne into a corner. it would have been really hard for maryanne to not come across as the bad guy if she didn’t go along with what drea did, and in addition if drea had played her idol in any way maryanne was the next obvious choice to go home so she had to play hers. going along with the race card was her best game move whether or not she actually agreed with it
Absolutely disagree, theres a genuine moment of anxiety being expressed by Maryanne and Drea there and I think you're making a huge presumption about what its like to come from a different experience in a society that obsesses over whiteness being the 'default' Maryanne is the first black woman to win Survivor since Vecepia, on Big Brother Taylor Hale was the first and only black woman to win in 25 years. Social games highlight social problems
I knew a person with the same energy as Maryanne they started fun and positive but then is quickly shifted when they got called out for "less than ethical" behavior, shifted to constant negativite energy. Playing the race card at tribal isnt a good look tbh 🤷♂️ even tho shes right
I hate how in the 10 seconds into the video you already classified Tori as a villain. I know its not portrayed in the show but just according to ponderosa from accounts shes the best
Maryanne had a lot of parallels with fabio but she was clearly a lot more strategic it just feels like she didnt have the personality to really guide the game how you want, shes a genius but not a leader. I love that she won but i think any survivor season is won with varying degrees of luck
There’s always going to be luck in winning because in a lot of cases, you have to fight against people being good at certain areas. A possible target not winning immunity, or an advantage going unused, not being targeted out of nowhere, or being trusted by someone who really shouldn’t trust you, stuff like that. Little bits of luck are what makes the game because the unpredictable factors make it fun to follow. And it builds most winners victories that they got that little bit lucky.
If you flip a coin 100 times to see if the head/tail ratio is indeed 50/50, and after the first 4 flips it comes up heads, would you force the next flip to be tails in order to even out the ratio? If we don't like the immediate outcome, should we manipulate the conditions simply because it doesn't look right from the outset? This is what these Maryanne and Drea did, acting on emotion and motivated by political impulse. It all started when it was time to vote the 3rd member of the jury, both M and D entered tribal council and stared at the existing jury members. Rocksory, who is also B, had been voted out only moments previous. In that moment, both of them made their decisions: the next person voted out would not be B, which means it would conveniently not be one of them. Jonathan may have won his immunity with his toil that day, but Maryanne and Drea won their immunity by simply walking into tribal council. We can say without a doubt that when the finale came, no matter what, there would eventually be more W people on the jury than B, but this didn't matter. Immediate gratification would prevail over long-term strategy or even common sense. Just like a coin landing on heads too many times in a row, this outrageous trend of two B people being voted into the jury would end, no matter what. There would not be a 3rd in a row, no matter how many tears Maryanne had to shed to make that happen. The fact is that neither of the two women knew why Rocksroy had been voted out that night. For all they knew, he may have had only one vote against him and someone else played an idol, thus eliminating him. But for Maryanne and Drea, it didn't matter. What did matter is that the optics of the situation were more important for them than the truth... it was more important than the game itself. A modicum of social justice would be doled out right then and there, even if it was on a reality TV competition, even if that justice were to benefit mostly two people on that tribe. Maryanne's tears, emotion, and seemingly manic behavior would win the moment, and eventually the season. MLK could not have done better. No one opposed it because they knew that speaking contrary to Maryanne would be social suicide, personal cancellation was at risk, and on TV no less.
Overtime her win will settle on me as a great winner, but with how bad the editing was this season to make her finale underwhelming, I still have her as a bottom tier winner

New generation Ethan.
Wow I can't believe there are people who get so easily duped by the Monty Hall problem
Was this a good season?
Yes
@@OnceUponAnIsland Good I wanted to watch but I was wary of subbing to a streaming service after how let down I was with 41...
Hands down.....the most ANNOYING person on Survivor!!
she was a satisfying winner, wish her edit was better.
Her edit wasn't bad tbh. She was basically the main thing next to Mike. Her win was explained well enough on the show for me
@@drewlmao Yeah, but Mike got like, 11 more confessionals then her.
Mike should’ve got less, I found him annoying
@@seanf1451 Yeah I think they tried a bit too hard to make this a "why [frontrunner to win on paper] lost" type of season. I liked watching Mike though
Statistically, Maryanne has one of the best edits for a female winner in survivor history
I just kinda noticed at ftc it looks like she is wearing PJs
i personally, just watched season 42 and its awful. jonathan was a beast and should have won IMO. or Mike. i did not care for maryann at all!
Pulling the race card to save yourself in a game, is such a cowardly thing.
Cried without provocation, complained about abuses she never endured, manipulated a vote in order to appeal to r@ce, etc. She was disgusting to watch.
keep crying mate
