I love how this game started with people claiming it was a smurf game. Pretty evident by the end that that was not a well rounded, high elo player. Great stuff.
The amount of micro was on par with a pro. It made everything worse, like a typical micromanaging boss, but it was still micro. I cringed every time I saw blue’s knights have a panic attack in the middle of the fight and switch targets five times before attacking a building.
@@Mythic_Echoes It's not that people think everyone IS a smurf, it's that that think anyone COULD be a smurf. It turns every defeat into a bitter moment because, odds are, 10% or more of your losses are due to some form of cheating.
is anyone else impressed with how far along 500-1000 elo has come along in the last 2 years? We saw tech switching, walls, build orders, deer pushing, idk pretty insane, the tc idle time is burtla and as is a few other things but like jeesh so much better, its what 1k elo was a couple years ago
What am I witnessing!? 18 pop scouts with deer pushing on 750 elo? Back in the day when I was on that same elo ( me now is 1200) I used to click feudal at 8 minutes by milling the deer before lumber camp and I considered myself fast! Things have changed so much now!
@@solorollo9756 yeah bro, some Mongol players will reach feudal at the time you click it 11, I no longer mill the deer though I'm now a deer pushing machine, I even sometimes push ALL the deers on Yucatan! ( even if it's a wast of time tbh)
Wow, Nightshade seems to be reenacting the punic wars: First the romans are beaten like a punching back, then it comes a total, irreversible, comeback.
What an amazing game! I can't believe they're 750ish! So back and forth at no point I had any certainty of who could have won this game, the ending came as a total suprise but I was rooting for who eventually won anyway, LEL is always an amazing experience.
Thank you for calling out people for accusing people of smurfing. Feel like lately I can't have a good game without being accused of smurfing by my opponent 😅
You really need to find a way to interview the players right after these epic LEL games, it would be super fun and interesting! What a rollercoaster of emotions this was for them 11
I love blue's logic. Enemy is going mass seige, cavalry is doing well but he just doesn't have quite enough of it. Best switch? Mass archery and ballista, obviously. Edit: But wait the Hussar switch! The sudden counterattack! What a game.
Blue has the macro and micro. Just needs some strategy and a post it note with counters stuck to their monitor and they'll hit 1100 elo before Christmas.
One thing that i think you overlooked in the anti trash / late game role is that being ranged is tremendously helpful for preserving gold if your comp also includes trash. With a buffer or halbs/hussar the axeman can dish damage without risking death
Being accused of being a smurf is fun. Gives an ego boost. I never did many solo comp games, when doing comp I usually do teamgames. So without having a rating in solos doing a comp game I was micro'ing archers against skirmishers and got called a smurf for winning it fairly easily... that's just a good feeling
I've been watching this series and from it I often assume I'd be like 1000 Elo if I played multiplayer. Dunning-Kruger effect? Maybe. But this blue guy made me think I'd be in the 600-700 Elo range instead. Go figure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Try multiplayer, it is much nicer to play against a human opponent who makes mistakes, as opposed to AI that instantly reacts to everything. BTW, Lithuanian?
@@NeblogaiLT No, Latvian. Close though. I probably will play multiplayer one day fwiw, but I want to finish all campaigns first. It takes so long though..
The AI is nothing like real people. Totally different games. A good test for 1000 elo is: can you beat the extreme AI on Arabia WITHOUT attacking in feudal age?
I personally love to make like 3-4 stables far away from anything and start massing some Hussars and try to get a secret raid. This mostly won me in the game!
No, T90 that is bad advice! 47:00 red takes all those rams east, comes down the map side. And destroys all of blue's houses! Easyer fix and blue can't make more army.
I was really hoping to see blue fully commits to scorps at some point + hussars. Roman's scorps are very good, but khmer's are OP. Blue basically lost because he started making balista elephants instead of scorps
Insane game. o_o Blue really needs to remember that the market and the university exist... So often, all the way to the end, he could have sold some wood to have enough gold for more cavs, and having ballistics would have made a massive difference I think? (I'm a noob)
Ballistic would have helped him a lot when he was still making archers. It's a must have tech and generally I instantly research it when my university is completed.
It would be awesome if the blue player gets better at the game, enough to go to those international tournaments like the one in germany, where they get a banner.
i remember a team black forest game where I had 70 fully upgraded elite ballista elephants. I was feeling VERY confident to wipe down the enire map. They died in less than one minute a chokepoint by 15 heavy scorpions from the enemy ethiopian player. Edit: I blame torsion engine
The only upgrade I want for this game is for Villagers to gain the same "healer" routine Monks have so they can AUTO-REPAIR siege and stuff. How can this game be some 24 years old and that basic mechanic not have been added yet? Heck, just copy the Monk code, switch it to target siege and buildings, add an 'auto-cast' button, and slap that on Villagers. EZ ONE DAY OF WORK!
Honestly it's also good advice in RL fights as well: lunge first and strike hard, if nothing else you don't look like a bitch and best case scenario the other dude is put on the backfoot which leaves an opening for follow ups.
I would bet anything that blue is not a smurf, but a former Starcraft player. Maybe I'm just projecting, but the lacking game familiarity + decent fundamentals say "used to play other RTS games" to me.
One thing i hate about this game is stupid units keep getting stuck attacking buildings instead of moving to attack units. I've lost count of Coffee's casulties that cane from this shity mechanics alone
They only do that if you click on the buildings. If you just click them near the buildings, they will attack the buildings only if there is no enemy army nearby.
Really there is never a point in buying into smurf accusations that early into a game. Just wait! Chance has it if they seemingly do well in dark age/feudal they mess up later on. I can totally see blue pumping all is knights into pikes at the first opportunity…
t90 thinks too highly of those players thinking they play like 900 elo. Did he not see their idle times? That's why theyre not any higher. Scouting is also well below those levels. I mean theyre still ok but I wouldnt be happy with those numbers if I was playing

im low elo because i have a good understanding of the game but i missclick a lot (bad at hotkeys) and get tunnel vision.

lore accurate roman tactic, lose all your army to superior tactics? just raise more army and go back
Cool game love the swings and twists this is why I like mid elo games =)
It amazes me how efficiently they rate the players in ranked. I mean those guys are really ballanced
