Interesting thing about having that many scorpions massed is, unlike with many other death balls, it really doesn’t matter whether your opponent trickles in army (like Darkelf was doing) or waits and sends a huge mass themselves, the scorpions will just kill it all regardless because of pass through damage.
On the other hand, if you surround the Scorpions, put your army on Spread Formation and attack from all sides, that could do serious damage to the Scorpions. Without micro, though, I agree the difference between trickling army or sending one mass is small compared to most other compositions you'd face.
Go full cav with some bombard cannon if u have the spare resources. Use Spread out formation and approach from atleast 2 direction. I have used this same strat using goth light cavs against massed celt sieges. The K/D wont be pretty but it can work. Make sure u have +7 stables though. So u can spawn the next waves faster

I definitely think as a pro player T90 misses the point of what most people do. It's not a stubbornness thing, most people play for fun. Winning is secondary to how much fun they have

When I was playing AoE II as a kid in 1999, I used to do like Dark Elf and only send women to farms and men to other roles until I felt I had enough farms. I just felt it was historically accurate to do so and that was cooler this way! :D And then, I realized that it just made building an healthy economy much harder and stopped doing that. However, I still try to build believable cities and having a coherent farm system, but I never succeed at making cities as gorgeous as those of Dark Elf. I love how he is still building beautiful cities and roleplay his economy. I find it admirable that he does it in a competitive environment and that he does pretty well anyway all things considered. People like that is what makes AoE II so awesome after all those years.
I went through the gender divided roles phase long ago, only in single player though and it didn't stick. Women could farm, gather berries and sheep and build, but men did the chopping, mining and most of the building as well as hunting. The fact that the villagers say gatherer when set to berry bushes probably reinforced the idea as well.
Man, this brings me back. As a 12 year old playing the original AoE2 I used to segregate my villagers too. I remember believing the women were less efficient miners and better suited for berries. I would look for berries at the other side of the map rather than put them on gold. I also couldn't understand why the easy AI was so difficult.
It just sort of dawned on me watching this. I think Dark Elf segregating the villagers might be part of his city building internal roleplaying that he's doing. By keeping the women inside his complex structure at the farm, he's keeping the women off the front lines and can town bell them in a pinch.
I wonder if Dark Elf knows that you can rotate houses when placing them, i noticed they are all facing different directions which is odd considering how neat he is.
