It’s one of those discretion is needed situations. The way I am is the things of scary movies don’t scare me more than reality. Call me desensitized but reality is always scarier than fiction no matter how dark. I think we watch scary stuff the same reason we ride roller coasters, adrenaline highs, to think we survived some big event. I don’t know, it’s a big grey area. I always try to watch things that provoke the viewer to think and use the mind to grow in some way rather than some lazy junk like Friday the 13th.

The horror industry all changed when Nefarious came out and Christians and Catholics directed it from a biblical worldview but it doesn’t mean that every horror film should be consumed.

I disagree respectfully and that’s because I like horror movies in general even though I stay away from certain horror movies but I enjoy horror movies in general. I grew up watching horror movies and liking the horror genre and that is the only genre that accurately depicts Christianity. I also enjoy watching them in general. So can a Christian watch horror movies or like the horror genre? I say they can depending on thier personal convictions according to Roman’s 14. It’s not for all Christians and it’s not for everyone and that’s fine but let’s not force our convictions onto other Christians.
I grew up like that too with horror movies, I had a whole wall of collectibles until I had a medical overdose saw my own body and a man in all black who told me “it’s not your time” I didn’t think anything of it until I went to the hospital because I wasn’t feeling good and they explained what happened and took the medication away and told me I could of died. I felt an urge to go to a church and told the pastor what I saw we spoke and I asked what about my collectibles do I sell them? That night I heard something tell me “get rid of it” I destroyed thousands of dollars got rid of it all, and coming to Jesus I realized I made an idol of it, I had satan as a master, you cant have horror and light. I’m very blessed Jesus saved my life that night otherwise I know my fate would have been hell and I wouldn’t have had the chance to repent. Please repent and go to Jesus, if you continue down that path you’re leading yourself into darkness.
