Winner of 5 Academy Awards®, Kramer vs. Kramer is a ground- breaking drama about the heartbreak of divorce and the struggle between work and family. Young husband and father Ted Kramer (Dustin Hoffman) loves his family - and his job, which is where he spends most of his time. When he returns home late one evening from work, his wife Joanna (Meryl Streep) confronts him and then leaves him, forcing Ted to become the sole caregiver to their six-year-old son. Now, Ted must learn to be a father while balancing the demands of his high-pressure career. But just as Ted adapts to his new role and begins to feel like a fulfilled parent, Joanna returns. And now she wants her son back.

I liked that Ted and Margaret had a strong platonic friendship throughout the film. There should be more representation of men and women simply being friends.

She was Joanna’s friend first. She and Ted never would have been close friends had Jo stayed.

The rudeness of that lawyer is shocking. And his arguments are ridiculous. He’s asking for a description of these relationships from YEARS AGO. People change. Relationships change. The fact that he thinks her words from then could fully apply to the current situation … any logical thinker would know that’s bull.

I agree, but the thing is, he's a lawyer. That's the job of a lawyer. Use absolutely anything you can to prove a point in their client's favor. If Margaret were to have said "That was years ago that I said that", the lawyer would've just said "I didn't ask you how long ago it was, I asked if you ever said it." That's why lawyers ask a lot of questions that can only be answered with a yes or no.

He is playing to the Judge that Ted wasn't a good guy and if a neighbor said it it must be true. It's a sneaky Lawyer trick.

To those who think the lawyer was 'rude' towards Margaret, they should think again.
Joanna's lawyer was simply doing his job trying to get Margaret to testify what she said to Joanna.
It's a lawyer's job to pressure the witness or defendant in a criminal case to tell the truth to convince the judge (or jury in a criminal case) to win the case.
Lawyers obviously have to play hardball to help their clients win.
