Geekdom101 Brace yourself this is a long one: You know these questions about other races being able to to create DragonBalls as long as that race has the "Magic Materialization" ability (since there is a clear distinction between Ki and magic in Dragon Ball) and that power of the maker determines the power of the Dragon, is something I am still asking today. There was one instance in the video games mainly Attack of the Saiyans where Mr Popo creates a new sets of Dragon Balls, but for plot convencience and gameplay reasons they could not revive people. Even tough that was a video game only instance it gave me a THEORY about the Dragon Balls. In my mind it is not only the power of the maker that determines the Dragon Balls Capibility and amount of wishes but also what THEY can do realtivily, Kami and Dende are (or was in Kami case) both Healers, they can Heal other people and that ability gets reflected into the Dragon Balls to be able to revive. Because if you think about Dende cannot revive people by himself (even tough Namekian's are genderless) only heal others while clearly the Dragons Power is dependant on the makers power yet Kami and Dende cannot revive people so what the dragon can do must also be related what the Maker Can do. So in that sense the Healing ability goes also to the dragon and because of the "magic" this ability gets amplified as far to be able to "revive" people. And at least that is what I think what happens this is just a theory after all and should taken with a gain of salt. In mind I think a Kai (tough I doubt they would actually do that because Elder Kai was against the use of the Dragon Balls) if he knows how to make them can make Dragon Balls with its magic materialization ability but that the power and capibility's of the dragon are dependant on what the maker can "relatively do". But as for now this is just a Theory and way for me to solve a certain Plothole with Piccolo and Kami's fusion. This fusion made the Dragon Balls inert but it also gave Picollo Kami's knowledge and memories, but should this not make Picollo be able to create Dragon Balls? Then this actually hit me, Picollo never really got the ability to Heal others, so if he create's Dragon Balls he cannot give that Dragon the Ability to Revive people. But this is just my explanation how I deal with that Plothole you are free to debunk it it is just for me to make sense of it. There is also something else I wonder, if the maker creates a set of the Dragon Balls, let for say in this Scenario Picollo has the ability and creates a set of Dragon Balls. If he keeps training after wards to increase his power should the power and the Dragon's capability' s also increase at the same time? Or does the maker need to give this Power to the Dragon Balls in the form of an Upgrade by "Remaking" a new Dragon"? That is some thing I still wonder. Not to mention if the Dragon Balls could still work trough Dimension like what it did in the Xenoverse game, even tough that was a video game and not manga related I still wonder if they could do that.
Geekdom101 do you think that the fact that they are re introducing martial arts into db since they where barely used in dbz is a good thing? I personally don't enjoy most of the fights in dbz because all they do is to repeat the same frame of a punch and a kick to make it look fast I prefer what they did in fnf specially in the z fighterz vs the army and base goku vs freeza I really liked the fact that freeza didn't land a single hit on goku and how defensive goku fighting style was during his two fights
the conspiracy theorist I loved the one inch punch Goku did, that's the kinda stuff I wanna see more of, mixed with traditional DBZ fast paced fighting style :)
Yes. He never took it too seriously. I loved DB plot holes abound. I just love the art, character design, and fight sequences. Now, we have this legion of super fans that demand a certain caliber of canonical story telling, and I’m pretty sure toriyama’s grateful... but rolling his eyes. For fuck’s sake, people... it’s a manga that was never meant to be taken so seriously.
Wow nicley done man i havent noticed the link between old kais age and the namekian dragonballs being so old, shit. This is on my top list of favorite videos to watch from your channel thus far. Very informative.
A couple of Questions: 1: were the Dragon balls Kami created after the King piccolo saga, and the ones Dende created during the Cell saga different sets, or were they just the same set just re-energized? 2: if they were the former and the latter, How did the negative energy that created the Shadow dragons in GT carry over? and 3: What if hypothetically someone gathered all 7 balls while they were inert, and placed them in the Hyperbolic time chamber/room of spirit and time, will they be affected by the 1 day=1 year in the time chamber rule?
+TheArceusftw 1.Same set, just re-energized with new rules. 2. Don't worry about GT. It's full of plot holes you can drive a truck through. 3. In Dragonball Goku caught the 4 star ball before it flew off, so theoretically, seven of them should be able to get the balls after each wish. Had Piccolo not blown up the only door to the chamber, I'm pretty sure this would work.
Here's how the gt black star ball timer works. The black star balls must not only be returned to earth, but they must be present exactly 1. year from the original use. They can be used again and again in the meantime
I always understood it that dende made it so the dragon can only grant 2 wishes anyway, because he increased shenlongs power which reduces the number of wishes.
If the namekian balls are 100's of millions of years old then imagine what namekian shadow dragons would be like? All that negative energy over the eons. Could be a good fan manga.
I think that the reason they could upgrade it is similar to this. I buy a plot of land and build a house. I give that house to my son and he decides to expand it. That doesn't mean he's stronger then me or richer then me it's because he was building open something that was already made. In the cell saga dende is reactivating kamis balls not remaking them he said that to remake them (from scratch) would take 100 days but because he was building off of something that existed already...you get the point and the same thing applies to the namik balls
1 - Thanks for confirming where your 'The World May Never Know' catchphrase came from. That commercial and the 'Tootsie Rolls are all I see' acid trip are among my faves from that lost time period. 2 - I think that Kami's lack of knowledge of his own origins may have limited his ability to craft multi-wish DB's. Dende was raised in the culture. 3 - The Black Stars are a nightmare of continuity on so many levels. Was the Nameless Namek a warrior or a DB-creator? I kind of thought they were exclusive on Namek. How did Pilaf learn of them? These are alt-variants of something most people don't know of or believe in, and who was in Kami's lookout long enough to see something he had hidden, let alone know what they were? How does anyone know their ill effects, and if used on another now-destroyed world, how were they brought back to Earth? Also, was Cell Saga-on Piccolo really the rebirth of the Nameless Namek, when there were so many differences between them? And if the anime regards all filler as canon for the anime world, why didn't Kami's predecessors from Garlic Jr. harass Pilaf's intrusion? My solution : Goku, training Uub, ate a big meal with strong peppers Mister Popo grew and subconsciously knew he was a few days over his one-year promise. He had a nightmare of returning years too late and all kinds of weird stuff happened in it. When he woke up, he took Uub, ported home and thanked Heaven for ever day nothing of this came true.
imagine vegeta somehow got his wish for immortality and then the next use of the dragonballs was to wish vegeta to not be immortal anymore. then he cant get the same wish twice. dreams crushed
as to your last question YES in dragon ball super they are releasing a new set of 9 star dragon balls.... Also maybe they can change the dragonballs whenever they feel like it? I want the dragon to have 2 really strong wishes or i want the dragonballs to have 3 decent wishes OR maybe 1 all powerfull wish.
Here's our boy, Geekdom101, in the Dragon Ball trenches yet again keeping us all straight with the lore, canon, and facts of our beloved series. This guy is a godsend to the fandom. Good work as always, mate!
In the Namek saga, when Krillin first met Grand Elder, and they spoke of Kami+Piccolo, and Earth's dragon balls, Grand Elder mentioned that Kami+Piccolo was the son of another elder Namekian, and that Kami+Piccolo was an outstanding "Dragon type/tribe". Also, later when Piccolo asks Dende, whether he had the same ability to heal people, Dende remarked that he couldn't, because he is a combat type Namekian. So this means only Namekians with magical abilities, and are of the "Dragon type/tribe", like Dende and Grand Elder are able to create Dragon Balls. That explains why Demon King Piccolo and Lord Slug were not able to create Dragon Balls of their own and had to gather them like any other characters.
You know? When Toriyama said that earths dragon balls grant three wishes in Buu Saga, i cant help but imagine that at some point Toriyama was like "Oh crap! I just remembered! Its two wishes, not three" well its too late to fix something.
It absolutely ties in with what dende said in the cell arc, he said bringing back a greater number of people would reduce it from 3 to 2 to compensate for dendes limited power, leaving the wisher with one remaining wish.....had ant older namekian done it, wouldn't have had that same outcome likely.....but it also limits the dragons wishes because of the power consumption, he has the ability to bring several people back at once and dende had to tie two wishes together because he basically didnt learn how to do that yet
Final piece: GT was absolute garbage for the franchise but solely for its execution. Many of the concepts were failed brilliant like super 17's completion like you try to mention goku and vegeta completing the ultra instinct as vegito, as well as the shadow dragons. It was all just poorly portrayed.
I don't remember the 3 wish thing in the Buu saga, just the 2 wishes and that after bringing everyone back after Vageta killed everyome at the tournament, Dende said they could save the 1 wish.
you cant really say the first plot hole is 8 months because roshi announces theres 8 months till the tournament after theyve been training for an untold ammount of time, plus the tornament itself seemed to take serveral days
Reviving frieza and his parts counted as two, because one because you get his soul back in the body but since trunks sliced him to bits he essentially had no body to return to
Remember that the original namekian didnt have a pure heart so the black star balls were created with negative energy and you had to wait longer to purify the energy in those balls as oppose to the balls that pure hearted kami created
I thought it was a good idea to readucate myself on the dragonballs at 6am in the morning.. when i just woke up. Ill see you guys in the next 5 times i will watch this video, bye
Watched a few of your vids and enjoy most the topics and conversations. I learned a few new things about the dragon balls and some stuff that was summed up. Like how the Dragon cannot Grant a wish that exceeds the power of Kami! That was a good explanation. Two major questions I have though about the dragon balls and their history. 1. How did Bulma truly first learn about the dragonballs existence??? I believe I remember either in the anime or a movie she states that she found an old scroll about the dragon balls in her father's attic or something? And of course the whole concept of her making a dragon radar for the mystical balls was really over the top... 2. I know it's probably a dub problem however they made it seem in the anime King Piccolo never knew of the dragonballs existence??? How is that possible because he is part of Kami and they share mind and soul together and even sense each others thoughts and feelings. Was this just a mistake of the anime and it was explained in the manga?
I would of like it if the Dragons were connected to their master, which leaves them to only link their power and thoughts. And if they're dead afterward, with no other master, they're free to wish as they please, but are limited to a certain degree.
the dragon ball story line is a classic case of changing and creating new rules obstacles and expanding on already established ideas as time goes on for entertainment value and plot device. How many times has one of the characters randomly mentioned new information about items or characters that were already established and we are left thinking "Why didnt they tell us this before?" for example, the dragon balls powers, majin buu, bibidi and babidi, the hierarchy of the kais and then that of course goes down the biggest rabbit hole that ultimately turns into Beerus, Whis, Zeno sama, and Zenos guardian angel and THEN all the other universes. Totally unbelievable and the series just seems to always do this and its just something you have to accept being a fan. Right when you thought you knew everything... check out how much deeper it really goes! Dragon Ball Super was particularly guilty of doing this. It seems like everything from the beginning of Dragon ball up until the end of the Cell Saga primarily involves the common inhabitants of the universe and its not until the Buu Saga when it really starts expanding and ordeals involving the mystical and divine start popping up every where. Guess it makes sense why the show loses many fans at this point of the story, and in a way I am still kind of surprised that Dragon Ball Super upped the ante many times with expanding on that even further and it was still so well accepted, I guess the newer fans were more tolerant of the buu saga and super.
There is no way you could have one this at the time but in dbs revival of frieza arc the dragon allows them to wish for friezas revival,1000000 zenie and a tub of ice cream. THREE WISHES
The only reason I can think of why the earth would be destroyed by the black star balls would be, perhaps the version of Red Shenron is summoned from the earths core, he favors darker tendencies and like Piccolo himself does not like being held by these objects as he had fear of the Mafuba and being sealed away. The balls themselves almost act like a barrier when they are in planet and when they are ejected after a wish the power slowly decreases to the point that th dragon cannot be contained, he then after a year erupts from the core of the earth destroying it. Head canon at its finest, or at least as fine as it could be with GT…
(I may have made this up) I'm think that the black star dragon balls (for some unexplained reason) have to be returned to exact spot where the wish was granted.
You know another question I really want to know that'll never be answered is if negative energy build up in the other dragon balls would they produce shadow dragons as well and would they be more powerful or weaker?
I believe Kami had the ability to increase the power of the Dragon balls all this while just as Dende and Mori did. The reason why he didn't do so, was because he did not want the Dragon Balls to be abused by humans. This coincides with the filler that there was only ONE Dragon Ball originally, until humans abused the ball for their selfish desires, that is why Kami broke the original ball into seven, and placed those limitations, so that only those worthy will get their wish granted. Also, since gathering 7 Dragon Balls is a tormenting task, it also ensures that the Dragon Balls can only be used once in a lifetime, thus guaranteeing that their minus energy gets balanced out after each use.
I want a theroy as to how Piccolo aged from egg to adult( or teenager) in 3 years and full adult within the next 4. Dende seems to have been a kid for much longer. Also...how did king piccolo form an egg with a hole threw his stomach.
Maybe it is because of the wish King Picollo made to remain in his yought forever. And Shenron did knew what Picollo wanted (he didn't turn him in a child). If the wish is still intact, Picollo grow older in a much shorter time, and he will remain this age untill he dies... Just a quick theory ;)
We also don't know how long it took goku to get to roshi's after pilaf. I mean it's assumed he didn't know the way directly with all his traveling. Plus knowing him even if he did he probably took the scenic route

Love your in-depth series.
Any arguments involving DBZ, I'm just using this video as a reference ;)
Tinizel GOOD! YOU SHOULD!
Geekdom101 do you think that the fact that they are re introducing martial arts into db since they where barely used in dbz is a good thing?
I personally don't enjoy most of the fights in dbz because all they do is to repeat the same frame of a punch and a kick to make it look fast I prefer what they did in fnf specially in the z fighterz vs the army
and base goku vs freeza I really liked the fact that freeza didn't land a single hit on goku and how defensive goku fighting style was during his two fights
the conspiracy theorist Yes.
the conspiracy theorist I loved the one inch punch Goku did, that's the kinda stuff I wanna see more of, mixed with traditional DBZ fast paced fighting style :)
Tinizel loved it
Do you think Toriyama is aware of the plotholes and just doesn't give a damn?
I feel as if in the beginning he wasnt aware, but now its purley because hes forgotten everything
+Moises Wynns Like he completely forgot about Launch 😂
Dubstep8cheese be funny if she was brought back in super
He's stated some of his plot holes before and he's also said he's forgotten about some stuff and that's why their is so many plot holes
What the hell Dende!?! I think I laughed when you said that more than I should have xD
One of the best in depth videos !
I'm glad your touching GT subjects a lot more now. Your channel is just better N better
Wow nicley done man i havent noticed the link between old kais age and the namekian dragonballs being so old, shit. This is on my top list of favorite videos to watch from your channel thus far. Very informative.
Moises Wynns Word Life!!
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the one plus two talk and the whole, "You bring back certain amount of people it'll eat up two wishes."
A couple of Questions:
1: were the Dragon balls Kami created after the King piccolo saga, and the ones Dende created during the Cell saga different sets, or were they just the same set just re-energized?
2: if they were the former and the latter, How did the negative energy that created the Shadow dragons in GT carry over?
and 3: What if hypothetically someone gathered all 7 balls while they were inert, and placed them in the Hyperbolic time chamber/room of spirit and time, will they be affected by the 1 day=1 year in the time chamber rule?
+TheArceusftw
1.Same set, just re-energized with new rules.
18:20 "You know what i dont blame Piccolo for dying along with the Earth; anything toet away from GT"....DAAAAAAAAAAAMN.
I always understood it that dende made it so the dragon can only grant 2 wishes anyway, because he increased shenlongs power which reduces the number of wishes.
and save yourself a headache and forget the atrocity that was GT
I'd rather forget Super. GT has more credibility than that shit.
You know so far, I've not heard a single wish saying "I would like as many wishes as I want!"
If that ever happens, I hope it goes the same way as in Power Rangers Mystic Force.
so much respect for these
Honestly one of the funniest videos of dragon ball I have ever seen
8:33 Oolong could wish for the destruction of Nappa,s and Vegeta,s space pod right ? (So killing them indirectly ;)
Hey, i watched this video and thundershot told me to comment on it because you're one of my favorite youtubers.
Mind=Blown
Great video dude! Just as the title says that was DEEP!
"the most powerful set of balls"
Even though he is gone, the Dragon Balls are indeed the greatest macguffin Akira Toriama ever created. R.I.P.
In the cell saga dende is reactivating kamis balls not remaking them he said that to remake them (from scratch) would take 100 days but because he was building off of something that existed already...you get the point and the same thing applies to the namik balls
thecreatorofthedark this is exactly what i was thinking. Wanted to see if anyone else thought it to XD
pyrus aer well i mean people over think things sometimes but the answer is alot more simple
I would have liked to have seen more of the Namekian dragon ball mythos in the Evil Dragons.
I'm glad that part about waiting a year or else someone can't be revived was cleared up. I was always confused by that.
Rob Morris youre right!
19:33 you got your answer my man
So the Dragon ball Super 69th Chapter adds more Lure to this Stuff
Great video.
Again , a good In Depth (y)
Ashutos Jain thanks!!!
;)
***** where is it?
I love how many time I have to keep from laughing at the word “balls”
imagine vegeta somehow got his wish for immortality and then the next use of the dragonballs was to wish vegeta to not be immortal anymore. then he cant get the same wish twice. dreams crushed
LOL I know I watched this years ago but the over emphasis on "balls" is funny AF..then he says "I'll catch your ass down the road",,,dead
If you take more than 24 minutes to make a wish the dragon is legally allowed to leave
as to your last question YES in dragon ball super they are releasing a new set of 9 star dragon balls.... Also maybe they can change the dragonballs whenever they feel like it? I want the dragon to have 2 really strong wishes or i want the dragonballs to have 3 decent wishes OR maybe 1 all powerfull wish.
Neo Blackheart it is 7 though.....
Good video man. But now it's headache time because now you need an updated version that includes the Super Dragon Balls.
If you were to give this series subtitles for each episode, would this one be "Dragon Ball In Depth: We Get Literal"?
this vid needs to be redone and there is no such this as plot holes it all make sense to me
It gets worse in the Resurrection F arc of Super, cuz they get 3 wishes: Frieza, ice cream, and money
19:48 Or you can wait until the super Dragon Balls appear in Dragon Ball Super, of which it looks like there are 9 dragon balls at the moment...
Here's our boy, Geekdom101, in the Dragon Ball trenches yet again keeping us all straight with the lore, canon, and facts of our beloved series. This guy is a godsend to the fandom. Good work as always, mate!
Nice video, very informative
I actually like GT reasoning.....except the blowing up part
I didn't know about the black star Dragonballs and how it works. Thanks for the expo.
The one year resurection rule was mentionned when Krilin first died
I wanna say their was a anime filler where roshi explains that at one time there was a single dragon ball that had split into seven
You know? When Toriyama said that earths dragon balls grant three wishes in Buu Saga, i cant help but imagine that at some point Toriyama was like "Oh crap! I just remembered! Its two wishes, not three" well its too late to fix something.
in an episode of dragon ball they explain that the dragon balls were once 1 but kami decided to separate them into 7
It absolutely ties in with what dende said in the cell arc, he said bringing back a greater number of people would reduce it from 3 to 2 to compensate for dendes limited power, leaving the wisher with one remaining wish.....had ant older namekian done it, wouldn't have had that same outcome likely.....but it also limits the dragons wishes because of the power consumption, he has the ability to bring several people back at once and dende had to tie two wishes together because he basically didnt learn how to do that yet
Nice video I learned a lot
Woh AiR thank ya brother
isn't it better to just wish that everytime the dragon balls reawaken they return to you.
Reviving frieza and his parts counted as two, because one because you get his soul back in the body but since trunks sliced him to bits he essentially had no body to return to
gt explanation of the use of the Dragon balls give us a break.. But I enjoy these In depth videos you knock them out the park
For no restriction wishes the dragons sure do have a lot of rules on their wishes
Who's here after Geekdom's Super Episode 68 Review!
simtek34 Me!
"The world may never know!"Then we got introduced to U6 and Saonel and Pirina.
Actually, The namekian dragon was waiting for a wish when Goku was fighting Majin Buu. So they took a while to grant the wish.
Take a drink every time he says "balls." 😆😆
Remember that the original namekian didnt have a pure heart so the black star balls were created with negative energy and you had to wait longer to purify the energy in those balls as oppose to the balls that pure hearted kami created
I thought in Revival of F they wished for Zeni, Freeza resurrection, and ice cream.
Toriyama, master of the plotholes. (Sorry toriyama i love you please forgive me!)
+Light Yagami Dragonball is aweosme, I love it... But you could drive a semi through the plotholes.
He's aware of this, lol!
+jsmooth d sometimes I think he does it on porpose
jsmooth d you bet I am.
Chrisfragger1 it is quite aweosme, thank you.
Dragon Balls. The best "reset" button in anime history.
I would of like it if the Dragons were connected to their master, which leaves them to only link their power and thoughts. And if they're dead afterward, with no other master, they're free to wish as they please, but are limited to a certain degree.
theirs 1 thing I hate most about the dragon balls and its bloody dragon ball GT
the dragon ball story line is a classic case of changing and creating new rules obstacles and expanding on already established ideas as time goes on for entertainment value and plot device.
Random thought, if you wish for Shenron to have an hour conversation with him. Would it be denied? As we all know, he doesn't like to stay.
Awesome video! Deeeeez Dragon Ballz
Ozaru Kai thank you brother!
An interesting in depth would be one on the saiyan race, are you planning on doing one on this topic.
RokaSoka down the line yes!
Geekdom101 the saiyans aren't interesting at all the only person that was cool was bardock but that's it
the conspiracy theorist there would be a lot to talk about
How does frieza get revived in fukkatsu no f since its been more than one year?
Jorge Gallardo Watch the video again - it is clearly explained in the video.
Ik, i posted this comment like 2 seconds before it said in the video. My bad
Jorge Gallardo LMAO!
(I may have made this up) I'm think that the black star dragon balls (for some unexplained reason) have to be returned to exact spot where the wish was granted.
i think it's because it needs to get back to the exact spot because that were the negative energy starts
You know another question I really want to know that'll never be answered is if negative energy build up in the other dragon balls would they produce shadow dragons as well and would they be more powerful or weaker?
It has happened in dbs in episode 69 that goku didn't make wish to bring king kai to life and the balls were scattered
Even bigger question, if the Earth dragon balls were created by Dendae how did Shenron know Berus?
battle of god movie they got 2 wishes but in the dragon ball super battle of gods arc we got 3
+robyn leon yep
