> I just don't know why someone would abuse an animal. Read about psychopaths. They abuse animals, and most of all, _people_, because they _enjoy_ seeing living things in anguish.
Sadly not just psychopaths abuse animals. Where I live, in South Texas, mistreatment of animals is more of a cultural issue in that many people believe that animals don't deserve to be treated with respect or that is just the way their family has raised dogs for years so why should they treat them any differently. I am part of a group that walks around trouble neighborhoods and try to educate these people on why they need to spay/neuter, take them to the vet and mostly that letting their dog wander the neighborhood and streets is not okay.
Angela Jacobs You're lowering the bar for "abuse" to make non-psychopaths into "abusers" too.. kind of like a psychopath would. But you can be sure that the dog in this video was _actually_ abused, and by a psychopath.
+Kikuli Kokuli I'm not saying that this dog wasn't abused by a disgusting human being that is more than likely a psychopath. But allowing your dog to wander busy streets and knowing there is a high chance of it being hit by a car or keeping dogs on a short, heavy chain in 100+ degree heat is just as abusive. If you don't think that neglecting to provide your pet with proper care isn't abuse then I hope you never are responsible for one.
How can someone hurt/scare an animal so much that it freezes with fear and wets it's self?? This is heartbreaking but I'm so glad he found the happiness he deserves 😇....
It doesn't always have to be an abused dog that wets him/herself at the vet. I work at a clinic and lots of well-adjusted and well-cared-for dogs pee themselves out of sheer terror, being left there for drop-off visits by their parents. One poodle today peed all over the place like 3 times, and the 1st time it happened, he was just in his kennel after arrival. We hadn't even done anything yet. Some dogs will pee themselves for room visits, too, so their parents are right there with them. Heck some children will pee themselves at the doctor. It's just not a natural place. You can sense it.
Reaching Higher Aww, thank you for your comment I totally understand why they would find it scary, I hate the smell of hospitals it makes me feel uneasy so I know what you mean. Thank you for looking after our animals too....
My heart cried for this poor baby at the beginning of this video. I was in tears. But, I cried more to see his little tail wag, and the kisses he had to offer his human friends. But, having two unconditionally loving dogs of my own, I'll never understand how anyone could betray that trust and hurt these poor little souls. They are so precious. Precious like babies, loving, gentle and kind, seeking only the love and affection of someone.
Sharon B I know exactly what you mean. I'm a cat person. But it doesn't matter what kind of animal person you are. Yes 🐱 cats and 🐬 dolphins are my favorites but I love all animals. How can people mistreat such beautiful creatures.
angelfire2510 I couldn't imagine what could make a person treat a trusting, loving soul like this. It's incomprehensible. I love my babies, too. I have a kitty cat and 2 doggies. My kitty was given to me by my mom 13 years ago. She was found in a ditch in front of their home. My brother and his 2 daughters were living with her, at the time. His youngest daughter found her, first. She had been hit by a car. They spent over $500 on her, and then, just gave her to us because their other cat was attacking her. But, they couldn't get rid of their older cat because she was blind. And, our doggies were both rescued as puppies. And, we love them all, as if they were the youngest 3 of our 9 kids. LOL. Yes, we have 6 kids, 13 grandkids, and 3 pets. We have a lot of love to give. And, my youngest daughter is as tender-hearted as I am when it comes to animals.
beverly dunlap thank you for being a supporter of animal lovers. We have one female and one male dog, and one female cat. My youngest daughter even calls them her younger brother and sisters. LOL.
I just don't understand why ppl adopt or buy animals if they only want to torture them. Some ppl seriously need to get a mental certification b4 they are able to adopt animals. A friend of mine adopted an abused dog and I still remember the day when I was hanging out with her on New Years Eve at her place and when the clock struck midnight, the dog would run around the house, barking and he was so traumatized by whatever the previous owners had done. All I wanted to do was just hug him and hold him but he wouldn't even sit still for a second when the fireworks were going off. Just because they are animals doesn't mean they don't hurt or feel pain and don't deserve love. jeez
He's so beautiful, I'm so glad he got over his abuse. Animals should never be mistreated and it's only a miracle that dogs have the type of ''live in the moment'' psychology that can help them recover from the worst that humanity can throw at them. I hope the people who did this to him were banned from owning animals for life.
I think they should have a animal abuser database, like they do for sex offenders. Then people could check on potential buyers, adopters, etc. and employers could check too, I know I would not want to ever hire someone who abused animals, and a lot of people feel the same way. It might make people think twice about it, I know it is probably unrealistic, but sure would be great if something like that was implemented. Besides that, it is well know that serial killers and mentally deranged people that kill usually begin with animals, so it would be a good tool for the government or law enforcement to keep a check on.
Jo Im I don't think the ugliness or cuteness of the animal is of utmost importance, I think it is the extent to which we anthropomorphize any particular class of animal ... that is how much we invest and see human emotions in them. There is a hierarchy of sentience and complexity in the animal kingdom. We are programmed to care more about cats and dogs and dolphins, than we care about an ant or a fly etc. Personally I would feel the same way about the winner of the yearly ''worlds ugliest dog'' competition... but I'm the kind of person that watches their step on a wet day to avoid squishing any snails.
Bless him. I love when he looks back at the camera crew and wags his tail. Just shows you how much can be accomplished with a traumatised dog with tlc. Brilliant Job as always.
how could anyone on this earth abuse another living thing like this? thank you for saving this wonderful animal and showing him the love that he deserves.
This poor chap must have been severely abused to fake death as his only defense. We took a dog from a shelter, and he's really very nice with us from the first moment. There's only one thing : You can't untie his collar, it makes him absolutely furious, to the point he did bite me twice. We speculate he suffered something real bad related to the collar in his previous life. It's slowly improving, with a combination of very firm speaking before (but absolutely no beating) and petting him once the collar is removed without problem, but it's not yet done (we have him for a month now). We guessed it would not change over night anyway, it's a patience game.
He didn't have one in the shelter, we put it on him when we took him home, without any reaction. Then we discovered we cant remove it. You may be right: We joke that he thinks if we remove the collar he will be homeless again, but that joke could be true. It's just one month since he's here, so yes, it's the same collar since the beginning.
Philippe Bourgon I think that what your saying is true and may be the reason why because he's probably thinking that because you put that there, its meant to stay there and if you take it off then he's gonna get the feeling of him not having you before he had the collar, if you understand what I mean.
Bless you dear sir! Hug for you and your dear precious doggie! You are REAL HERO! All respect! Total respect.! Thank you your example ! Praying for your and your doggie! Never give up! Thank you your wonderful example and inspiration
Things like this just restores my faith in humanity. All your hard work and dedication to that dog is just amazing there should be more people like you in the world
thank u to these kind people that rescue these little souls and build them up. it's people like these that make me realize, there are still awesome people out there. heartfelt thank u!
Bless his heart, i would bet the one who made him that way isnt so tough when their opponent isnt helpless like this innocent baby. Thank you for showing him what love is and making him necer have to be scared again.
I loved the part went he was so happy he was saved he said "hello" to all the dogs and babies in the carriage as he walked by them in the park. What a sweet dog! Thank you for all you do. 😻
I saw human vending their anger towards people taking care of them. But I rarely saw dogs biting the ones who tried to help them. They are really lovely animals and good friends of human beings. Otto is a lovely, cute and wonderful dog. God bless.
Thank you to all those beautiful people who showed him love and respect is. I'm so incredibly happy there are people out there with HEARTS OF GOLD. Thank you.
And I also want to add that I hope Ottos new home is ten times better than what his old owners live in, and by the looks of it , it is. See Otto, that's called "Karma". :) love you buddy
I've found dogs and even adopted one two years ago like this. I've been doing this for almost 40 years and I have yet to not cry even with the happy outcomes. God bless
Thank You for giving this dog the extra gift of your TIME to let it gain back trust in humans again! In my opinion it is this very thing that can save an Animals life. And I am so very happy she/he has found a FOREVER home. Thank You for all you do for the dog's and cats that you save! Many blessings to you and your staff for all the hard work you have done!
I am grateful for all the selfless sacrifices and support that people who care for animals that have been abandoned, abused, and mistreated. I will continue to pray for you all and especially these beautiful animals. That just want to be loved and give love in return. 🐕🐶🐩🐈🐱... I'm glad that he found love and is being loved💖
Trisha Jones it makes me think what is happening in this world why some people are so evil, these poor innocent animals just want kindness and love even if people don't like animals why the need to be cruel
Aww, I cried my eyes out! Your organization is amazing! I'm unemployed but I have money coming in soon and I will be donating towards these lovely animals.
Makes me cry to see him so scared en than makes me so happy to see him full with joy and receiving much love. Thank you so much Angels who saves these poor animals. God will be proud of you!
If I ever saw any animals in need of help I would do anything and everything I could possibly do to help . That was a great looking dog . Great story .
The videos from Mr. Larkhill are so moving, tender, and trans-formative, I often don't know what to say, and mostly just read the responses. This time, watching Otto, I think I finally figured it out. Thank you for the privilege of watching, over and over, how love heals.
+Mike Smith thank you Mike.. We have two kinds of videos.. Current rescues and complete stories. Each has a purpose and meaning. Thank you for being here
Otto turned out to be a big baby being held. I don't own any pets. But i do have a grandpuppy. He is always a joy. It really upsets me to see how horrible these beautiful creatures are treated.
We are blessed to have these beautiful beings in our lives. Animals are the most innocent of beings and they put their trust in us. Anyone who mistreats an animal, in any way, is the lowest of any life form. In my personal, they don't deserve to live.
It made me think of my dog. I adopted a dog that was so abused. He peed as a result of fear, and got more beating for peeing they said. It was this tiny little papillon puppy. So he was unwanted because of aggression and constantly peeing. People retarded like that. He's one of the smartest dog I know. He was indeed aggressive over food, but it only took 2 meals time to fix the problem. Now I can dip my hand in his bowl anytime, no problem. He is very alert but in a good way. He protects everything we own, and if anyone tries to mess with anything, he bites for real. Anybody that isn't given permission to enter our house, oh he bites the crap out of them. Whatever gave him the instinct that we approved a person or not, he doesn't get it wrong. Toward kids, he's the nicest dog ever. He even helped kids to over come dog fear. All of that was taught with proper care and love, but some people just don't understand. We do joke that he's smart because we fed him dog food meant for old dogs; it enhances brain function (puppy food was out of stock, but we don't want crap brands).
ooXChrissieXoo bless you for your patience and love. try to show the same to all; animals, people. With people it's more difficult, but we must try. Your pup is very lucky!!
ooXChrissieXoo my dogs like that food no problem toys hes possessive of hes curled up to me atm . as for otto if hes living there hes a lucky dog hope he gets to swim in the river
ooXChrissieXoo yeah thats really sad. people think they are JUST toys because they cant defend themselves in the way humans can. i just wanna kill those people
Alberto Guardado Don't go around killing people lol Sometime they just need a little help. I mean yes, I'm quite upset with they puppy's previous owner, but he suffers panic disorder and bipolar disorder. It is difficult to understand why they do all the cruel things, but they aren't going to be helped when you just think they are pure evil, and ignore the actual problem. The guy wanted the dog back. I told him no, and I'm never going give the dog back. I want him to understand that what he did has a consequence, and you can't just go back and fix it every time, cause apparently he thought he can. He breaks laws and rules, because he thinks he can get away with it, and he can always just fix things later. Honestly, he's far more difficult to fix than the puppy that he broke.
The future of our organization hangs in the balance. It's Now or Never…

"Just as abusive" as what? .. as whatever was done to this dog? :D
Nice passive-aggressive condescension in the end too!

I have a lot of hate for people who can abuse such loyal & vulnerable creatures .. My heart breaks for the victims.
I've rescued two dogs that were just like that, a lot of work but so rewarding. Dogs are just such wonderful creatures.

We do joke that he's smart because we fed him dog food meant for old dogs; it enhances brain function (puppy food was out of stock, but we don't want crap brands).

bless you for your patience and love. try to show the same to all; animals, people. With people it's more difficult, but we must try. Your pup is very lucky!!

Don't go around killing people lol Sometime they just need a little help. Honestly, he's far more difficult to fix than the puppy that he broke.
ooXChrissieXoo i still prefer what i said. i would never give a dog back to an owner who left the puppy scared for life.
Great job guys 👍🏻
