My family adopted Snuggles when he was 1. I keep having allergies for the longest time. My mom finally took me to a specialist to see what was wrong with me. I found out that I was allergic to my dog. My mom and the doctor told me I need to get rid of him but it was already too late, he was family now. He was embedded into my heart forever. So I actually suffered for like almost a decade, but then my brother took him in for a couple of years. He came back to me and lived out the rest of his years. He was 14 when he passed. RIPSnuggles ❤️

Sometimes dogs run away repeatedly. We adopted a runaway Yellow Lab from our canyon neighborhood friend. We thought he was a bad pet owner and maybe he WAS . Then Mikey the Lab started doing the same thing he did from the previous owner. He would taken off from the ranch and end up many miles away , traversing valleys. Multiple times. He would dig underneath the yard fence, enticed our other dog into running away with him. Multiple times. We got fined, several threats from strangers calling us every name in the book. So we had to eventually surrender him to Animal Services. He eventually got re-adopted AGAIN by a poor unfortunate fool. Guess what??? We got a random call MONTHS later. We heard a panting sound, and a man on the other line asking is if we were the owners. Animal Services allowed Mikey to be adopted out with OUR tags on him!!! We felt bad for Mikey but couldn’t help but laugh nervously as the man said he was being CHASED down the highway by this dog! Mikey wherever you are you are a troublemaker! You had it ALL and threw it all away by being a runaway. My mama and the rest of the family adored him but he was just too freein spirit to be chained down... We heard a rumor he had scaled the wall the new owners had and escaped. 🤷🏻♀️
Bobi was adopted by a loving family in Delaware who specialize in caring for senior dogs. Bobi now spends his days playing with 2 buddies, sleeping on the couch in front of the fireplace, and eating yummy treats. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

They have been artificially and purposefully bred to be our domesticated companions over at least 15000 years (maybe even 30000). Having said that, humans are animals too so I’m not sure wether the word “humanize” can even be used in that context (or indeed any context). The fact is that tribes of humans can and do survive in the wild all over the planet which renders your comment kinda moot.
I could not agree more. I am also getting older and jaded by the inhumanity shown by humans towards animals and other humans that you can get a mindset that everyone is despicable. My dog died last week. Water boy gave it to me cause he will throw it to the river so he decided to give it to me and i accepted it without thinking anything i only think is the life of a dog wasted for nothing i wish my dog is happy now.
Probably someone who never should've bought a dog in the first place, didn't have the money nor the time to take care of one but impulsively bought it anyways because humans are stupid.
My dog was found running through the streets near her home, brought to a shelter and scanned. Her owners at the time said they left her with a pet sitter, she must have escaped, someone would come get her eventually. Then they never came for her. Their loss was my gain.

That dog was abused and its obvious. "Ran away" my ass. He was found 10 miles from his home, injured, limping, and scared of humans. And to top it off, the owner coincidentally doesnt want him back. Obvious animal abuse and im glad someone else is taking care of him now.
I took homeless dog, with broken heart month ago. Now he is happy, sleeping in bed with me. We”re going for a walk everyday, and im giving him my love everyday. Im gonna stay with him, forever.

This is a easy one. You need to understand not all people raised properly or in a proper family. Many have been abused severly during childhood, taken advantage of etc.. humsn being although can cope but can never forget those especially as a young kid growing up. How you were treated, will likely stuck with you till your adulthood. When they are abused by elders as a kid (kind of a power differencd), this makes them to think it will be okay to abuse the weaker once they get older and more "powerful". Hence such sad stories.

If, after contacting the dog's owner via the microchip info, the owner said he doesn't want him back, I'd be willing to be that the owner deliberately abandoned the poor dog. Shame on such an owner! If you don't want to judge him, fine, but I will.
I found this story difficult to understand how someone could abandon their dog as well, but we really don't know the circumstances behind this story. Dementia might have taken it's toll. we just don't know !

I don’t care what your excuse is, you can still take time to bring the dog to a shelter or find someone to adopt him, you don’t just kick them to the curb and leave them to die.

And regardless, if your dog runs away and is found years later why would you not want it back unless you never cared about it? I would’ve gladly traded my dog disappearing for a year and coming back at age 20 than the reality that she got hit by a truck after slipping her leash and died on a sidewalk with me crying over her.

_RealUnderscore_ but i can and i will, it’s clear the owners didn’t want the dog in the first place. it’s their irresponsibility and stupidity for adopting a dog in the first place if they weren’t willing to take care of it? plus, the cost and everything is told during adoption, i just adopted two new puppies and it does depend on the place or shelter you get a dog from, but they make you sign papers and such that you acknowledge taking care of a dog can cost a lot of money, even reaching up to the thousands. you also sign saying that you wouldn’t have the dog euthanized for any reason without telling the shelter, and you would have to have a good reason to do so. if the owner didn’t want the dog, he or she could have taken the dog back to a shelter instead of leaving a dog on the street. in my opinion, leaving an animal to suffer and starve on the streets, especially near winter, is one of the most heartless things anyone can do. so yes, they are heartless monsters, and i will stand by this point.

Ik, I got my cat because neighbors moved away and left the cat, and they didn’t want her. She was microchipped too. We found her when she was under a year old, she’s a very happy cat now, 9 years later (a long life for her considering her heath conditions). Imagine all the animals who don’t get rescued. My cat and this dog probably wouldn’t be alive rn.

What a sweetheart. I'll take him. (That's why my wife won't let me go to the shelter anymore.) The last one was an elderly beagle. She had chf and none wanted her. After I looked in her face I took her home. She died new years morning after being with us for 2 years. My heart aches daily still. My dogs treat me better than anyone, and I them.
For most of her life, my mother had a sign up in her kitchen, "The more time I spend around people, the more I love my dog!" It has always struck a chord with me and sounds like it applies to you too. Sadly, they also leave paw prints on your heart when they go. I'm sorry for your recent loss. My dog was found running through the streets near her home, brought to a shelter and scanned. Her owners at the time said they left her with a pet sitter, she must have escaped, someone would come get her eventually. Then they never came for her.
Their loss was my gain.

That dog was abused and its obvious. "Ran away" my ass. He was found 10 miles from his home, injured, limping, and scared of humans. And to top it off, the owner coincidentally doesnt want him back. Obvious animal abuse and im glad someone else is taking care of him now.

This is a easy one. You need to understand not all people raised properly or in a proper family. Many have been abused severly during childhood, taken advantage of etc.. humsn being although can cope but can never forget those especially as a young kid growing up. How you were treated, will likely stuck with you till your adulthood. When they are abused by elders as a kid (kind of a power differencd), this makes them to think it will be okay to abuse the weaker once they get older and more "powerful". Hence such sad stories.

If, after contacting the dog's owner via the microchip info, the owner said he doesn't want him back, I'd be willing to be that the owner deliberately abandoned the poor dog. Shame on such an owner! If you don't want to judge him, fine, but I will.
I found this story difficult to understand how someone could abandon their dog as well, but we really don't know the circumstances behind this story. Dementia might have taken it's toll. we just don't know !

And regardless, if your dog runs away and is found years later why would you not want it back unless you never cared about it? I would’ve gladly traded my dog disappearing for a year and coming back at age 20 than the reality that she got hit by a truck after slipping her leash and died on a sidewalk with me crying over her.

I'm not saying I'm on their side, but prejudice is never something you should have against someone. You can't judge people that much without knowing them.
_RealUnderscore_ but i can and i will, it’s clear the owners didn’t want the dog in the first place. it’s their irresponsibility and stupidity for adopting a dog in the first place if they weren’t willing to take care of it? plus, the cost and everything is told during adoption, i just adopted two new puppies and it does depend on the place or shelter you get a dog from, but they make you sign papers and such that you acknowledge taking care of a dog can cost a lot of money, even reaching up to the thousands. you also sign saying that you wouldn’t have the dog euthanized for any reason without telling the shelter, and you would have to have a good reason to do so. if the owner didn’t want the dog, he or she could have taken the dog back to a shelter instead of leaving a dog on the street. in my opinion, leaving an animal to suffer and starve on the streets, especially near winter, is one of the most heartless things anyone can do. so yes, they are heartless monsters, and i will stand by this point.

"Animals can't show emotions". That is something you sometimes hear but when you look at this dog you can see in his eyes that he has a broken heart. Luckily they found him in time to give a very good life because he looks like an amazing dog that deserves to be loved.
Disagree, I think they show a reasonable range of emotions. Their faces can certainly show when they are happy or not so.

We rescued a dog alot like this one. She is old too, but very loving. My wife and I would love to know her story. It could be upsetting.
Ik, I got my cat because neighbors moved away and left the cat, and they didn’t want her. She was microchipped too. We found her when she was under a year old, she’s a very happy cat now, 9 years later (a long life for her considering her heath conditions). Imagine all the animals who don’t get rescued. My cat and this dog probably wouldn’t be alive rn.

What a sweetheart. I'll take him. (That's why my wife won't let me go to the shelter anymore.) The last one was an elderly beagle. She had chf and none wanted her. After I looked in her face I took her home. She died new years morning after being with us for 2 years. My heart aches daily still. My dogs treat me better than anyone, and I them.
For most of her life, my mother had a sign up in her kitchen, "The more time I spend around people, the more I love my dog!" It has always struck a chord with me and sounds like it applies to you too. Sadly, they also leave paw prints on your heart when they go. I'm sorry for your recent loss. Been there, done that .... it sucks.
I guess you should be happy that you provided her with 2 wonderful loving years. There are those out there that just want to adopt the ones that cant find homes and provide a loving environment till they pass. What wonderful people, I couldnt do it.

Honestly if such a sweet dog “left” home it’s either cause he wasn’t being treated well or the owner abandoned him, his eyes when they finally got to touch him said help me I’ve given up and it breaks my heart

@Red Nexican Nah, the owner 100% abandoned their dog. If they didn't abandon the dog, then why didn't they want their dog back once they recieved the call that it had been found?
