Rain was scared and expressed it in a way that I have never heard in my life! Her cry was heartbreaking, and I am so happy that Carey Linnell called Hope For Paws and asked for help.
Her ears were eaten by flies, her coat was filthy, and I can't imagine what caused her to be so fearful.
Loreta Frankonyte was able to secure her, calm her down, and I initiated the first contact while Loreta was ready to pull her away from me if needed. Rain never did anything aggressive, she allowed me to touch her and along with Carey, we gained her trust and got her into the crate and from there to the hospital.
The next day, Loreta and I met our friend Allison Dunbar on a rescue of a dog named Monkey. After the rescue we headed to the hospital to clean him up, and at the hospital, Allison met Rain and fell in love!
A few days later, after a short recovery and a little bit of training with the Lovejoy Foundation, Allison, Kyle and Ernie came to visit Rain again, and the way to the adoption application was short :-)
Rain was renamed Sassy Pants Dunbar, and she just LOVES her new life!

FunForSameer I found a female dog that was badly injured and was on the streets and starving! I took the poor dog in my car and took her to the vet. She was a stray and I decided to adopt her, but the vet said there is another THING! She was pregnant! A couple weeks later she was healthy and had 3 boys and 1 girl. I'm glad they are ok. Also I hope every dog gets a nice home. I areledy had 3 other dogs, but I'm glad I adopted her and she and her puppies are safe. Also you are right. We should have more people who have alot of love and will take care of dogs that need homes. Also my mom said I can get a dog if I take care of all the other ones and make sure the puppies get a good home. People are amazing people and really rude people. Help a dog if you can! 😢🐶

A few years ago I rescued a little dog from the dump somebody just threw him off there like a piece of garbage and I'm happy to say he has a loving home with my parents and me, he ended up becoming attached to my mom and whines when mom isn't around
I'm a big tough guy of 62 years and I'm in tears. The person responsible for the state of mind of this poor animal better not ever meet me.

This hit me. I found a dog on the street a month ago. Posted on Facebook and there had been several people who posted of finding him but still put him back on the street. I took him to the vets and no one claimed him. So 2 weeks later he’s mine. He’s so happy. He was absolutely terrified at first. Now he follows me everywhere and has a happy and safe home. So happy to see this beautiful video! 💜

K Mon yep I found my shepherd mix the same way... off the street, used burgers to earn his trust. I named him faith because although he was abandoned by people, somehow he still had enough faith that at least one would show him unconditional love. Incredible. I love him. He is my world. The family that adopted this beautiful shepherd are super blessed!

I'm not too sure about that. He is still mortified, despite intensive training, by any sticks, brooms, and things of the sort. The Vet stated, from his assessment that he had sustained some fractures linked to animal abuse.

I'm just here to ruin your day, there's actually more dog out there that got tortured like this and doesn't have a chance of escaping. Some of them get beaten to death. There's this websites I know who show thousands of animal being tortured. I've heard some of the dogs cry even louder than this one. What a sad world we live in.

I adopted a dog who we got from a rescue shelter and he was abused by his previous owner he made a sound like rain did the first time I touched him with love he was screaming in fear and whining but I was speaking to him calmly telling him that you are going to be ok he had tears coming down his face he’s only puppy age. Later on when I took a nap in the shelter he was resting on my chest when I opened my eye and my parents said this “do u wanna adopt him?” And I said “yeah let’s give him a better life” his name is alastor and he is 4 years old now and he is a beautiful beagle with a black heart on his forehead. Don’t shop for pets just adopt one

Dog did not look malnourished just dirty so might have wondered to far from home and couldn't figure out the way back. That with some loud sounds or random strangers reaching to help would maybe make the dog even more anxious and scared. Not sure this story, but many dogs are "rescued" and treated as dumped animals, when their owners are at home sad as can be.

When I left my Chi to be fixed, when I came to pick her up... she was in the arms of one of the staff who brought her out to me. When she saw me, I swear, her bottom lip quivered and huge tears rolled down her face like a human. How can people be cruel to these gifts from God? Tell me they don't have a soul...no, I know better. So happy she's sheltered now from the cold, lonely world. I think these dogs do a little rescuing of us! They can change us for the better.

She is an amzing gentle Dog. I'm always amazed how fast Dogs gives trust back again at people after they were horribly abused or bad treated by them. This is heart braking, as this character of them is exactlly what makes them so vulnerable to suffer again and again from abusing. When they are suffering they are so alone in this world agaisnt any evilnes. They have no one in their life they can get comfort from like most human can find in family and friends. Always remember- They are totally alone in this big planet. They are a gift to our world. Be kind and merciful with them and to other animals you meet. You can really feel how your heart gets wider when you do something good for them.

@@helo9316 this is so true. I got cut as a child once when I broke a mirror. There was blood everywhere. My mom saw me and screamed. Our dog ran from the backyard and jumped threw the window. Breaking the glass pane. She made it half way through and landed on the broken shards of glass on the window frame. I went to the hospital and needed 4 stitches. My dog went into surgery and received 184 stitches and a blood transfusion. We changed all the first floor windows to plexiglass after that. Dogs will lay down their lives for you.
What a wonderful thing to watch, such love and such patients. That changes that dogs
life and lets people that see that, realize what patience and love can do in this world.

Chances are they will attack anyone they spot who happens to look vulnerable or exhibit the attributes of what mutts would perceive as prey! Look at how many children and infants have been attacked by these things, *unprovoked!* And most attacks just happen to come from the family dog, who has never shown any signs of aggression, and was loved and trained well since it was a pup!
And I don't want to hear anything about *service* mutts, who only make up less than one percent of the entire dog population. These damn mutts have no idea what they are doing, and are doing only what they were trained to do, *for food!* That is all these mutts think about. Maybe not abused. One of my dogs escaped the yard. We found her three weeks later, roughing it in a creek bed. She acted very much like Sassy Pants did initially, even though she knew us and had always been treated well.

These people who adopted her are, too, keeping old dogs! So many people won't adopt old dogs, and I can understand it - not wanting to fall in love and get attached just to have your heart broken in a couple years. But at the same time, there is nothing like the sweetness and gratitude of an old dog, and giving an abandoned old dog a loving home to live out their days in is wonderfully fulfilling. I will NEVER, EVER understand how people can get rid of their old dogs, who have been faithful friends for so many years. That is just cold to me. I have old dogs, and I love them more than anything else in the world, and I just can't imagine not taking care of them and loving them and giving back to them the love and loyalty they've given me all these years until their dying breath.

Sounds just like a German Shepherd! When she's hiding around the truck, terrified and crying, I couldn't help but picture her as a puppy, bouncing around playing with her litter mates, running up to the people who came to choose a puppy after seeing the Craigslist ad. She was trusting, quiet, affectionate and sweet. She had no idea that the people who brought her home would be so wreched and undeserving of her love and trust. The people who bred her mother are equally as irresponsible. This dog deserved so much more.
The Paws for Hope volunteers are angels and it's hard to watch their videos without crying tears of rage, disgust, anger, sadness, hopefulness, gratefulness and happiness in 10 minutes or less. I'm so happy that Rain is living in paradise living the wonderful life she deserved all along.

I feel the same way only not so nice about it. I am unfortunately guilty for being as cruel if not worse than the person who hurt this dog or any animal for that matter. I wouldn't just want that person dead, I would want them to suffer in the same hurt the animal did only 1000 times worse and 10,000 times longer. That makes me a bad person I know. However, I'm sure as hell PROUD of it. Screw man made laws, just wait until God deals with people who hurt animals. Shepherds hold a special place in my heart. When I was 4yrs old in 1969, the only K-9 Cop (dog, lol) I assume, that our town had took up residence behind my house. Her owner treated her with lots of love and let her out often but tethered to a 20-25' rope and collar. She was quite vocal and all the kids in the neighborhood were scared of her... except me. Whenever she was home and outside, she was my constant playmate. There were times when I couldn't get off the school bus fast enough to go see my friend and play. Sometimes I would wait for her and other times she would wait on me. My very first four-legged friend. I'm almost 53yrs old now, but I'll never forget my friend.

Robert Saunders now there's a little karma for ya...my family were good friends with another family when I was little and they had a Cocker...my second four-legged buddy. Not to "ratchet-jaw" you to death but I retired from my job of thirty plus years not long ago, and am considering adopting a pooch from our county shelter. Once I feel like I can get in the position to properly have a companion, and give it a proper home and time (I'm divorced with a daughter who will be starting her senior year at Marshall University) I more than likely will...but it probably will be a "senior" dog like me lol, since they're the ones that are most likely not considered by people who do adopt. I always had dogs from when I was a toddler (plus a great Maine Coon cat that "let" us live in his home, as per the way cats are lol) till I myself left home for college and work. I think I would enjoy an old dog, like myself, to keep company with... anyway, thanks for taking the time to read and reply to my comment and I certainly will share the info on the Cocker that you spoke of.

You know, the thing I always admire about animals........and kids is their resilience.
