      Are the R1280DB and R1280DBs both powered by identical class D amplifiers?

    I liked the Edifier R1280DBs (upgraded) so much I bought 2 pair. Didn't care for the wood grain, so have the black. One pair connected to Alexa devices, the other pair connected to my PC. @Tech Man Douchebag I also think your criticism of the Sub/bass is exaggerated and over the top and unreasonable and should be ignored!

    Great speakers for the price ! 119 Eur in Lithuania :)
    I plug into Smart TV with optical cable, audio quality is pretty good :) Bass is not impressive, because these speakers can play down 51 Hz... Is very high Hz.. If you need bass, plug T5 subwoofer. :)

    Ever since I bought the razer speakers for $160 i've been wanting to upgrade because the high end is absolute GARBAGE... I should have got the creative speakers at the time. I was looking at the more expensive version of these Edifiers in the last month so I'm really glad for this review, what timing!

    I'm thinking of buying these for my LG tv . Does the tv control the volume or? And if so can i connect my old Edifier Subwoofer of a 2.1 set to it?

      I connected mine to my Samsung Crystal TV, by Bluetooth. Normally their is audio loss when connecting by Bluetooth, but it sounded just as good as the optical connection. I did this because my TV remote could then control the audio, perfectly. I connected the speakers to my Klipsch sub and the sound was incredible better. Highs, mids and of coarse the bass greatly improved. I have the Klipsch Quartet surround system. I put them in a box and stuck them in my storage room. I still can't believe these speakers sound better.

    In less than 2 years (with very very little usage) they started emitting a crackling / buzzing noise noise and all the help from Edifier support couldn't fix the problem. Chucking them out and switching brands.

    Thoughts on Klipsch R-51M Bookshelf Speakers with AT-L60X-BT turntable. I’m afraid that are too big! I was getting the edifier R1280DBS because of the size. It’s a Christmas gift, and she young & she is brand new to turntables, so I could always updated as she gets older. Trying to get a descent pair of speakers. Debating between with 51M and 41M. Are the klipsch’s plug and go too like the edifiers? Thanks!

    For the driver size, it brings a decent umph already. I'd say still that it's not "bad"

    Awesome review as always. I've been looking for some nearfield speakers for my recording setup. Slightly different requirements, and so far have had my eye on the Yamaha HS5. Am curious to see if you guys run any nearfield speakers for live streaming?

      @StephenMcGregor1986 2 роки тому +1

      not sure about these guys, but I run a pair of KRK Rokit 6 G3's and they are pretty good, Mackies and Yammy's aren't bad either imo 😃

      hmmm yt seems to have deleted my comment, presumably because I dropped a URL. I ended up going with the smaller Mackie CR-X Series 3 inch as they are Stereo. Perfect for what I need, and I think the HS5's are only a single mono speaker.

    3:14 I don't know who you're referring to when you say "audiophiles" but this statement is factually incorrect. Using optical would bypass your computer's (or even your TV's) internal DAC, which for most people would actually improve sound quality. Nobody I know would say "It doesn't matter," or, "Its only more convenient to plug in a single cable."
