An honour for us to be contemporary with this man, who must be named Sir Mark Knopfler while is still on Earth!

Such an unassuming and humble man.. No thrills or spills, no drama or theatrics, just a top class musician and perhaps one of the very best guitar players ever.. Certainly one of very few who we can recognise just by hearing the guitar
Mark knopfler imo is the most underrated guitarist /songwriter ever. He's written hits for some of the biggest stars and his guitar style has a beautifully emotive and melodic flavour unlike anyone else. After all these years he still often references his homeland in his songs, which adds to his authentic and earthy tone. One of the greatest of all time for sure.

And as far I remember the two last Dire Straits tour were Big promoting tour. And during the last MK & Bob Dylan Tour, MK brougth to Dylan 'his' public (At least in France) I fully agree that MK is greatest ans probable an admirable man. But he was not underrated ans Dire Strait was Big Music Machine as Pink Floyd for instance.

MK has been performing at this level for several decades- he was always fantastic, never formulaic. I don't have a large disagreement with you- but Phillips was never as bad as several of the labels- and MK was established. As the saying goes, don't mess with it, if it aint broke!

Saw Mark inn a live concert in Toronto too many years ago. ( then I moved to Baltimore!) but have never stopped listening to him. The Christies Auction a year or two ago was mind blowing - it raised 8 million $$ or more - all donated to help schools to provide music lessons for children who would never have had that opportunity otherwise. Love him💙

you're probably not the one getting these messages, but still. I'm from Portugal, I'm 45 years old and I grew up listening to Dire Straits and your solo albums.
I just want to tell you that you are one of the few people that I consider great in music and that I would like to meet you in person. I know it's "almost" impossible, and I say "almost" because anything is possible as long as we want, but given the current situation, I believe I think I'll never meet you in person. I'm also a musician, I play guitar, piano and drums. I have a great RESPECT and Admiration for you. May you live many long years composing great music. It fills my heart. Believe me!!!
