I painted my new shaker style cabinets Aegean teal: BM Color of the year 2021. With white artisan subway tile backsplash and Beher Swiss Coffee walls. Love it!
Sounds awesome Kenneth!
Your videos are so helpful and fun. I love your added sense of humor in your videos. So professional informative and funny. Thank you for your great videos.
Hey Rosie! What a nice comment to read and start the day with, thanks so much!
oh i love the first kitchen image -- that is exactly what i want -- love the white cabinets with the beige tile and granite and the stainless appliances! white cabinets and stainless appliances are close to enemies and the usual bridge is grey but this is gorgeous! currently doing my little kitchen and, dude, you nailed this for me!
Love this channel, thank you. On our large open and central kitchen cabinets we used SW High Reflective White , same with all trim and doors throughout. The kitchen islands are painted in SW Tricorn Black, beautiful with the black flecked pinkish granite counters. All walls are painted in SW Greek Villa satin throughout entire home, beautiful fresh color, does not turn too cool on north side rooms, stays true.
Ooo sounds lovely Vicki! Thanks for sharing your palette!
Love this channel .So much information. He explaining very clear.
Glad you've found it helpful Maria!
So many useful tips in your videos.! Our kitchen and living space is really really dark and we are repainting the walls and cabinets. What color would you suggest for the cabinets that goes good with chantilly lace cielings, super white walls, black countertop and dark wood floor?
I told my painter I was painting my bathroom black. He was dubious but I said yep do it. Everything else in the room was bright white and it looks stunning. He agreed
😂😂😂
Been waiting for this video for a long time.
Good things come to those who wait! :)
I still can’t decide on a color for my kitchen cabinets! Thanks for the video!
Hope it helped Mary Anna! :)

Okay, my cabinets are a dark slate grey (were painted that color when we moved in one year ago) Although I do like the boldness, I really want a brighter color in there- especially a white on the top cabinets. the kitchen is in the middle of all of my rooms in my open concept first floor. Recommendation on a white that will not give off too much of a cool hue tied with the dark grey bottom cabinets?
I LOVE bold colored cabinets. If I could do anything I want I would do navy or deep green but I’m really having trouble because I have busy granite I can’t change and I’m afraid white is my only option. I also love more modern/contemporary but my cabinets just aren’t. They aren’t that old and I’m sure we’re expensive but they are just not simple. I tried a sage green that looks good with the countertop but makes the kitchen look farmhouse modern. Ugh- not what I want. What do you do with busy countertops you can’t replace?
Okay so I work in the paint department at Home Depot. I personally have no incentive to upsell anybody for the sake of making the Behr rep happy, I work within the customers' means and what is best for them. With that said, I would really love it if you could review our new Behr Dynasty paint. Customers have been asking about washability, flow, coverage etc and I honestly have no clue about it since I've never used it yet. Just found your channel and I am learning so much though, thank you!
I painted an accent wall with the dynasty in the color Winter Way in flat and I love it.
It's been awhile since I've used Behr, so not sure if the smell is stronger than usu but that was something I noticed. Can't help with much of your questions asked as it hasn't been a full month, but wanted to share that I'm very pleased!
Hey, thanks for that Marcos, and I'll keep that in mind! :)
@@Lo-tn1vz I take any feedback I can get to help others, thanks!
I agree. BEHR is a much better paint than SW or BM. He should reference it much more!
@@thepaintpeople yes please do reviews with Behr scuff defense
New Subscriber and I am loving your channel and learning a lot. I paint my house Alabaster what blue I can paint my kitchen cabinet and doors. Thanks
We did our substantive kitchen reno last year, and for my cabinets, I chose SW Creamy in a high gloss. On the walls, we went with Benjamin Moore Mascarpone in a high gloss as well. These shades seem to work quite well together. My motivation in selecting these colours was to draw light into the side of the house as it is quite dark by about 2pm. The previous owners had painted the entire house in a flat griege shade that was not only depressing but also seemed to kill all life around it. Aside from Sherwin Williams Creamy and Benjamin Moore's Mascarpone, I also used Benjamin Moore's Mayonnaise in adjacent rooms which also are on the dark side of the house. Because of the darkness in these spaces, I decided that not only did the paints need to be light--not white--but I also needed as high a gloss as possible in order to get a lovely bounce of light in these spaces. My countertops and backsplashes are where I decided to be a bit more vibrant with colour and pattern.
Living that high gloss life Zareen! Love it!
Is the high gloss really shiny? Did you think it changed the look of SW Creamy? Thanks
@@JSCDR I guess I would say that it's shiny enough. It's not in the same sheen level as Fine Paints of Europe, which is almost like a maritime kind of shine, but it's enough that light reflects and pools in a way that makes the room glow. I hope that helps.
@@zareennevrekar6975 it does. Thanks so much for taking the time to respond. 😊
I have similar lighting issues in my kichen. Elsewhere: used cashmere ( I think Behr) in a bedroom that gets Eastern morning light. Elizabeth Ice is a white with a touch red in it also Home Depot in dark living room
As someone who won't leave my flat alone I always go into a project thinking about how will it will work with other colours when I want to change it or what will my next colour be.
i just painted my cabinets ocean side by sherwin williams and accented with orange and painted the molding and trim black. i got the idea from you of using ikea black hardware like the ones you used on yours, james. it's turning out really nicely. i have uba tuba granite on my counters, and the blue cabinets pull out the specks of blue in the counters.
Oh how nice Adrienne! Nice to know I inspired, but more importantly, happy you're happy with it!
Pictures?
I'd love to see photos of your kitchen!!!! 🖤🖤🖤
At time stamp 4:36 what color is the bottom cabinets? Thank you for such great videos!!!
I’m so glad I found this!!! Ok I need help please!
The off white cabinets I picked are our home we are building did look slightly green in a way. We want to do grey concrete floors. How can I marry these two together without mucking up or making the cabinets look green? Thank you!! Any advice on floor tone?
Such a helpful vid!!
Love to hear it Happy Anna! :)
Can you make a video about cabinetry refacing versus painting?
We just had our cabinets refaced in Floral White. I'm struggling a bit to find a wall color to compliment. Shoji White is not looking good with it. Any suggestions?
White Dove works for me lovit 👏🏻
Burgundy. My kitchen cabinets are gonna be Burgundy 😂.
It started as a joke when I searched "purple kitchen" on Pintrest because 'who colors their kitchen cabinet Purple?!' But then Burgundy Cabinets came up and I just fell in love with it and how it looked... the warm color palettes and this color in paticular, as soon as I saw it, just said on a sigh 'Home, I'm home ❤'
I find your paint color descriptions very helpful … I feel just slightly undecided now instead of completely overwhelmed. To add, you are funny. T. Ferris
Hahaha! Well that's a step up at least! Thank you!
We will be remodeling a 1925 condo galley kitchen, East window. It's challenging to pick not just cabinet paint color, but how to coordinate it with hardware, oak floor, wall color and countertop. Maybe a video with countertop/paint color parings?
Good thought! I'll think on it!
Hello, what would you recommend for cabinet color with agreeable gray walls ??
What do you think of the PPG color Shark for a cabinet color (PPG1006-2; #dfdcd5)?
I'm doing my cabinets in the new year and picking between blacks. I'm hovering around onyx.I did my walls last year swiss coffee white.
That'll be great! Onyx is nice and smooth and the Swiss Coffee White will keep the cabinets from overpowering. That kitchen will feel like a cup of coffee! :)
Behr Cracked Pepper is gorgeous. Warm dark grey brownish black. Just painted my kitchen walls and they make the white cabonets pop.
Planning on painting a west facing condo walls and trims Simply white (satin finish) with Chantilly lace (not sure what finish to use) over red wood melamine cupboards. What are your thoughts? My painter prefers using the DULUX brand.
Some designers do prefer to use higher sheens when the surfaces are in really good shape. That would be the thing you’d need to look out for, because shinier sheens will accentuate imperfections.
I have a mint green entry. I love that colour. My kitchen is open to the entry.....with Corn Silk walks. My white cabinets look dull. Can you suggest a colour that isn't going to make my kitchen look better?
Man am I happy I found you! I have expresso cabinets in my 14yr old kitchen and I'm contemplating painting them a taupe on the top cabinets and leaving the bottom dark. My walls are Shitake by Sherwin Williams do you think it's wrong for the uppers to match the wall? BTW it's a small kitchen with windows only on a back wall but they are large. Thanks in advance
I know you may have already decided on your cabinets (this is 8 mo later!)...but, i wanted to say that my kitchen is small, my upper cabinets are White Dove, my lower cabinets are a saturated green, and my walls are a lighter green. All recommended from a friend. I've loved it for 13 yrs.
Can you please 🙏 tell me the color of the walls at 4:01. Or what color you think would match on the lightest part of the wall.
I'm remodeling my whole house right now. I havent bought paint yet. I want to do BM White Dove on all cabinets and trim/doors throughout the house and SW Agreeable Grey throughout the whole house. With that being said I don't know what type of sheen of paint or kind to buy for cabinets/trim/doors with BM.
I want to do a Matte finish with SW, except for bathrooms 😉 I need some guidance on choosing paint and sheen from you.
Hi there Andrea, the higher the sheen the more durable the paint, so for cabinets, I would suggest something with a higher sheen. If you don't want to go semi-gloss, you could do satin, which has a velvety finish but has that durability factor. For trim, White Dove could totally work, because it has some gray in it that keeps it from being too warm. If you want a crisper white, you could also try SW Extra White, or SW Pure White.
Is it correct to say that Swiss Coffee on upper cabinets, walls, and trim may look yellow in a NW facing kitchen with soapstone cabinets?
Hi Susan, hard to say without being able to see, but not quite, northern light is going to bring out the cooler tones so we often look for yellow based colours to help balance that.
HEY BROTHER LOVE THE VIDEOS, HOPE YOU SEE THIS. WHAT DO I DO IF MY KITCHEN WALLS ARE YELLOW? Currently have light maple wood cabinets that are getting old looking, recently painted kitchen a pastel yellow
Hey, you have a lot of options. I'd lean warm likely. What colors do you have in mind?
If your wood cabinets are older with more grain would you suggest a darker color rather than a white? We have grey concrete counter tops.
Hi Suzie, when choosing a color, I'd factor in things like your wall color, backsplash, counter etc. What color are your walls?
My kitchen walls are Misty Blue (Benjamin Moore). I went down the sample strip to Blue Nova for the lower cabinets. The uppers and trim are Lightning White. So, what color do I paint the ceiling?
Hey BJ, hard to say without seeing it but the yellow in Lightning white is going to make those blues pop. If you want to soften that contrast you could go with a cooler white like a Decorators white. If you don't want to introduce any other competing elements, you could do a neutral white with few undertones like an Oxford white. Or you could continue the ceiling in the lightning white perhaps in a different sheen, or be inspired by another color somewhere else in the space. Have fun!
@@thepaintpeople Thanks for the reply. I never thought about a different sheen. That must be why you're the pro.
I’ve been watching you for over a year now and I’m always amazed that you don’t have more followers! Thanks for all your advice! There isn’t a single white wall in my house. I paint all the time but tend to choose darker colors.
My dilemma right now is updating my kitchen. I have maple cabinets. Should I paint them?
I am thinking about burnt orange walls and gray cabinets
Does white dove (also considering alabaster and Greek villa) work with chrome hardware?
I prefer cooler tones with chrome hardware, but while White Dove is warm but doesn't read yellow, so I might go with that.
I would like to know if Stonington gray walls open concept condo kitchen goes with oxford white on the upper cabinets and hale navy on the island and lower cabinets goes well together.?. or decorators white would be better choice?..please help me
Hey Paola, yes absolutely! Hale Navy and Stonington Gray bring out the best in each other and Oxford White goes with everything. Decorators white would work too, but Oxford white might make the other colors pop just a tad more. Up to you!
@@thepaintpeople
thank you very much, so if I go with oxford white satin the doors and trim should be the same color but semigloss, or different white?.
But if the Kitchen baseboard, doors, and other trim is already simply white, wouldn’t the other whites you suggested look off? I’m asking this because I’m in the process of painting and I’ve already painted the walls and trim, I was trying to figure out cabinet color. Good timing of this video.
I try not to mix whites if I don’t have to. Simply White can be one of those exception whites that can work with others because of how light and bright it is.
please provide the cabinet and wall colors at about 4:32, maybe the 3rd neutrals example...a rather taupe cabinet color, lighter walls. This is about what I want.
Where is the link to your colour choice? Didn't pop up in this one.
So funny! 🤩
Aw thanks so much Jamie!
So are you saying Chantilly Lace white would Not be appropriate for kitchen cabinets because it would be too bright??
Get the big stick on sample ❤
Is there an app to visually see these colors together please???
What sheen would you use for each area?
Thank you!!!!
Walls-Classic grey
Trim- Chantilly lace
Upper kitchen cabinets-chantilly lace
Lower cabinets- coastal pleasure
Stair case rails- wroght iron or iron ore
Hi there, Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams both have apps, but of course online isn't quite like real life but it can give you an idea. Sheen totally depends on your taste. Whatever I choose for walls, I typically do a higher sheen for trim, cabinets, and rails just for durability.
You rock!!! Thanksssss
I want to paint my oak cabinets & kitchen walls. I need help! Can I send you a couple of pictures for some suggestions?
James, I think you forgot the link at the end for your kitchen cabinet paint.
I added it! Sorry about that!
I use BM cabinet paint, but sometimes Behr color. Their computer is programmed for many of them.
My cabinets are pickled. Tired and old.
I am painting my center island Behr "Shipyard". I am also changing the look of it to look different, with a rebuilt skin. I will paint walls and trim last once I agree with more permanent colors.
The rest of my cabinets will either be painted or stained darker. ????? I have no plan to sell soon, but I don't want a trendy color in places harder to change.
Behr just came out with "Blank Canvas" which might be a good color for painted cabinets. Don't want white. White can look professional or rookie. Too clean.
What do you think of black cabinets?
I think they can be very chic and sophisticated. :)
Love iron ore, best black ever
Pick a color you like. Simple.

Loke a video about paint colors 2 blend with cherry cabinets without being bland..want cheery energetic fun
Hi Jennifer, are there colors you prefer? Happy to offer a suggestion if you can steer me in a direction?
@@thepaintpeople
I like all colors..so far i have blush walls (Ben Moore Queen Anne Pink) in open plan dining/living room and a cobalt blue accent wall (Evening Blue from Ben Moore).inspiration for blue wall from "blue horses" painting by Franz Marc so I love color but am not fond of the cherry wood cabinets and dont want to accent them..unfotunately there are a lot of cabinets in a small galley kitchen with 2 small windows facing South and a door with a small windo facing east..not much of a view out the windows..mostly the neighbos's peppermint bob bon color house.
Mmmmm....can we see some colors on cabinets...
We can and we will! ;)
Balance? Crud. There's that word again. 😂

Hi Spencer, I tossed some suggestions in there, anything specific you're looking for?
When I think white kitchen cabinets I think of old houses with flaking paint.
Loved some of your other videos, but this was burnout blather, and very few visuals.
Wood no paint
Let the next owner paint the cabinets how they want. My kitchen appliances are mostly black. The accents are RED! Cabinets will be painted RED, because I want them that way.
If you pick gray, I'm walking out.

Just do white cabinets people!
Just come pick out my colors! This is too much. I have no eye for color
List colors please so we don’t have to take note.
Nothing about wood finish cabinets? And not all cabinets can be repainted. You can’t sand and paint MDF.
You can paint MDF!
@@thepaintpeople I don’t see how painting MDF would hold up over time. It would have an uneven finish and chip over time with use. You can’t sand a thin IKEA MDF. There is no sanding you can do before painting.
If I wanted to cook and entertain in a hospital or dentist's waiting room, I'd choose your selections. Otherwise, NO THANKS!
I hate white kitchen cabinets
