I really fell for the green and walnut. The colors looked rich together. I would have never considered it, so thank you. I look forward to green-and-walnutting up my horrid white kitchen.
I installed a green and walnut kitchen in 1995. People around me were worried that this would not work, but I am still, nearly 30 years later, immensely happy with my combo
The white & oak color combination in my opinion is also very timeless, as wood and white are almost neutral enough to work with so many other finishes! Great suggestion...
Very interesting. All the kitchens are very well designed. White and oak, love. Green and walnut, pass. Anything with grey, pass. Blue (very dark) and white, love. Dark and metallic, pass.
From a kitchen designer's viewpoint, this is a good reference as color preference vary from one homeowner to another. Once the end-user picks a color and theme, the kitchen designer has to create the "look" that is within the budget allocation. In my opinion, especially in a tropical country, color choices can be bolder if it is an outdoor kitchen, but it has to blend well with the exterior of the house. Thank you, Sir, for creating video contents like this.
Nice video Michael. However, In my opinion, nothing beats the classic dark green English kitchen. While some may find Scandinavian kitchens sleek, I find them to be bland and lacking character. To me, they resemble a kitchen straight out of an alien spaceship.
You've selected the most beautiful collection of kitchens I've ever seen--what a great eye. I do really like minimal upper cabinets, with the exception of a wall that might be good for a full bank of cabinets. TYVM!
I've just extended and refurbished my kitchen. Colours I chose were breakfast room green wall cabinets and sink run and island then slipper satin tower units. Worktops are matt off white quartz with some grey veins. Taps brushed steel. Hob induction black on the island.
I think the reason blue and white remains so popular and timeless is due to the timelessness of other blue & white kitchen items, namely flow blue and blue willow china and pottery.
Thank you so much Michael! Beautiful kitchens--lots of inspiration. I've always loved a good blue (well almost any blue really), but all of these combinations are delightful. I agree with getting away from the stark whites and warming up the off whites. Another great video. See you in the next one. 😊
Hubs and I are moving soon and, with no mortgage, can finally have the kitchen we want instead of trying to get along with someone else’s design. I’m so excited but want to get the color scheme right for the room. I love your choices to describe the various kitchens and what to look out for when deciding. The blue and white is stunning, as is the green and walnut, but the bank of windows in each space (and the size of the space) keep them from looking dark and claustrophobic. I’ve never owned a space that large and probably never will but I think that I can still utilize color even in a galley with windows at only one end. The black cabinets were lovely; did you notice how they looked black in the corners but greenish once the light hit them? My favorite kitchens were the ones that were lighter in color, though. Woods and warm neutrals allow the food and implements to become focal points and create that sense of serenity…one should never be tense when wielding knives. 😊 I have saved all your videos on kitchen design/color and can’t wait to get started on my dream project. Thanks! ❤
Great video, some very beautiful kitchens. I think here in the states we could learn from the Uk about design. Love the modern shaker with the flush inset doors.
White always works. In 20 years every kitchen could be out of style, but white would always be there. I myself like neutral colours for a minimalistic style. Anthracite or black if you have lots of natural light with white, etc.
Another great video. Although I did not need this video in my design process right now, I rather enjoyed it. I have just rolled out copper over my counter tops to go with rich copper tones. Any suggestions on what colors/textures to go with copper counters and Brazilian cherry floors? Thanks Michael and Kitchinsider community!
some very nice looks but nothing for a small kitchen in a north-facing 1930s flat. I believe that strong bright colours work best in rooms with less natural light as white feels too cold and dark is, well, too dark.
My house is a 150 year old farmhouse with wood floors. The cabinets will be a soft sage color. I am thinking about butchblock countertop with a soft white wall paint.
Thanks! Not a video exactly about combining them but a video talking about some popular options. It might give you some ideas. ua-cam.com/video/d0IdEy6q0UE/v-deo.html
I love the dark rich dramatic colours. I never liked a white kitchen (though it will always remain somewhat timeless, rather than a trend). I just find white kitchens and scandinavian decor bland and absolutely lacking in character. However, everyone has their own taste and as long as one's space makes them feel good, and more importantly, inspired...that is what is important.
I love the moody! My kitchen is small and kinda inside of a nook so not sure it would work. Right now cabinets are taupe and white countertops and backsplash, deciding what color for island. Still not cabinet hardware, not sure if I want to go black or brass! Someone help!
I know this is an older video. Can I get your opinion? Ive got a bright spot to place my kitchen. How do you feel about dark oak brown kitchen with a silver sink, faucet and doorhandles and an ocher yellow wall? I'm not sure yet what kind of yellow works best in this situation. For now I mentioned ocher just to give you an idea what I'm aiming for, feel free to mention a different RAL paint colour.
It's just a color scheme it's not talking about your other choices in cabinetry or counters. But these are very limited color choices. There are so many more.
You can buy stock cabinets. The ones you put together yourself are actually quite nice. Get your knobs online-you don’t need custom ones. Do some or all of the demo yourself. Find a partial slab of quartz for your countertops (cheaper). It can be done with some careful shopping and some elbow grease.
My daughter and I have had to put up with boring, bland, even decrepit kitchens. Now we have the kitchen of our dreams. A Mondrian kitchen. Pure white with primary colours framed in narrow black just like his famous paintings. 😍. News is out in our tiny village and beyond. We have never had people coming to admire a kitchen before!! Obviously, our particular design will not be to everyone’s taste in their own home, but it shows how you can think outside the box. A little girl, our neighbour, was learning about Piet Mondrian in her primary school, so she has painted us a beautiful "Mondrian " picture! ❤😊
Hi Michael Pleaseeeee can you help me with a kitchen floorplan for a new extension, i dont know qhere to place a walk in pantry and WC, you are one of few UA-camrs opinion i trust and appreciate. Would be great if you would reply 😊
I moved into my home with a brand new gloss white kitchen, with the cheapest rather unconvincing butchers block laminate and faux-slate cushion flooring. From a distance, it looked OK but would never have been my first choice. However, financially constrained, I had to make the best of it. Fortunately, there were no wall tiles, which, going by the standard of fitting in the rest of the kitchen, would probably have needed to be removed - not good with plasterboard! Black granite with a metalic fleck (Angolan Gold) retained the contrast, yet surprisingly, that 'fleck' avoided the coldness some would expect. Keeping it clean has been surprisingly easy. As for the floor, slate, whether real or faux, shows every mark and spill, so it was in with the large expensive porcelain tiles - fortunately, a small floor doesn't need too many. Being a photograhic print of a natural material, it has some warmth, and the neutral colour and pattern mask any marks amazingly well. I considered many different wall tiles, but they were either too insipid or overpowered the space. In the end, I settled with boring large(ish) satin white, but added a strong double line of dark turquoise green mosaic tiles, which made more differrence than than they had any right to do - no doubt helped by the under cabinet lighting, which also highlights the metalic fleck in the granite. My sister finished it off with a semi reflective sponged paint finish on the untiled surface of one of the walls, also in turquoise green, but a lighter shade. Would have chosen this kitchen design had it been a clean slate, absolutely not, but there is no way that I would consider replacing it before it had to be. I could replace the white kick boards with something wild - bright orange, perhaps? 😂

Thanks. I'm a fan of the classic dark green too!
Funny how different this is in Germany: I have never seen a dark green kitchen in anybodys home
To those whose really value their kitchen, this is a gem. Appreciate it so much. 😉😍
Beautiful choices! I loved the deep green and walnut one with its colours melding the inside to the outside framed with windows and doors.
Thanks. Yes, it's a beautiful kitchen!

Beautiful. I liked the last one with the aged brass island! Incredible.
Dark and metallic is my dream kitchen. The moody darkness in combination with the warm bronze giving a bit of warmth to the room 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I love the white and oak but I'm also tempted to go for white and walnut
Great video. Thanks for listing the designers for more inspiration.
I've just extended and refurbished my kitchen. Colours I chose were breakfast room green wall cabinets and sink run and island then slipper satin tower units. Worktops are matt off white quartz with some grey veins. Taps brushed steel. Hob induction black on the island.
My favorite is green and walnut (walnut it my favorite wood and green is my favorite color), although I also like aspects of all of them.
Yeah, there's just something about green and walnut! 😊
I love the island countertop on the last kitchen.. The metallic one looks like a thin material. Does anyone recognize the material?
Thanks boo👏🏽👍🏽. My favourite kitchen combination is the dark blue island and light exterior cabinets🥰🌺🏡

#5- dark, as that is where I’m going with my remodel of my farmhouse.
I love the Tonal Neutrals! I would love to know the color used for the cabinets! Lovely!

I just painted my cabinets Seasalt with white countertops. Looks fantastic!
The dark kitchen sings to me🤗
My kitchen is oak/white and black with a part of the walls green, i am very pleased and think it ended up perfect
Walnut and green -- YES!
We agree!

Escandinavian and minimalistic kitchens for the win
Great video, some very beautiful kitchens. I think here in the states we could learn from the Uk about design. Love the modern shaker with the flush inset doors.
I love dark brown with greys and marbles. Beautitul. 😊 I have always detested "hospital" I mean white kitchens. Blah!!

Thanks for another great video. What do you think about wallpaper in a contemporary kitchen/diner? Maybe a video on that? Thanks!
My house is a 150 year old farmhouse with wood floors. The cabinets will be a soft sage color. I am thinking about butchblock countertop with a soft white wall paint.
Sounds great!
Great video. I love the kitchen at 04:38 - this is exactly my style. Are you able to share the exact paint colours/brand?
Good video. Do you have one about how to combine tree countertop with backsplash? What material to choose?
Thanks! Not a video exactly about combining them but a video talking about some popular options. It might give you some ideas. ua-cam.com/video/d0IdEy6q0UE/v-deo.html
@@kitchinsider, thanks. Watched this one already 😛
Very informative , represented in good manner with righ English.
Green and walnut. Mmmmmm
My dream kitchen is a soft blue and marble-look bench tops.

Our kitchen and home is small so need to think of brightening and opening up w choice of colour scheme with mid tone walnut wood floors- suggestions?

beautiful kitchen
95% of viewers can't afford kitchens you showed us here

Most of us, over 90% of us cannot afford kitchens of this caliber.
The most expensive things in all those kitchens are the stone countertops. But you can always replace them by quartz ones.
It's just a color scheme it's not talking about your other choices in cabinetry or counters. But these are very limited color choices. There are so many more.
You can get cheap materials and wood and stain/paint yourself. You can make a dream kitchen with minimal funds. I've done it.
If you live in the uk there’s DIY kitchens it’s a kitchen company based in Yorkshire

Can i ask...in these kitchens featured, how are the oak and walnut cabinets achieved? Are they solid wood, a veneer on mdf or imitation wood? Thanks
What's best combination for glossy white marbelld floor?
I had an instant visceral repulsion to the tonal neutrals. As for what I like, walnut with warm white lime wash or crisp barely warm white with navy.
Hi Michael

We can help customize the kitchen faucets you need here
How about the two tone kitchen with natural wood and espresso? My kitchen currently s all espresso, can I replace all wall cabinets in natural wood ?

Those tonal neutrals look rather boring.
I can’t wait to get rid of my green kitchen. Kitchen is small with only one window.
my kitchen is only 2m x 2,8m wide and length
None of these combinations do anything for me. I guess I'll keep looking.
Naw dont like miw of these. I like a bright sunny yellow kitchen
