There is also the ramship: The ship that is designed to be as cheap as possible, and simply ram into high value enemy ships when their shields go down. Used most by Mr. Purple. His tactics created many panic inducing moments!
Historically, ships set up to ruin enemy ships or ship formations in a self destructive manner were called "fire ships" on the count of them being set on fire beforehand to maximize the chaos they cause. I posit that Mr. Purple is doing the same sort of thing, even without the fire.
My small fighter holds twelve freighters, a mini nuke, half a mining rig, assembly facility and is built into an asteroid. I know at a glance you wouldn't be able to tell but the small rig and tiny cockpit give it away. Also, it's in the Toyota class resembling a Prius. Broadly speaking..
I like the designations. Personally, I swap 'Fast Mover' with 'Interceptor' a lot, but that's the only difference that stands out. Also, you forgot the 'Brotato' designator, but I guess that could be a 'Flagship'?
Ooo, love getting these vids! I don't play Starcore but on the SE server I play on there are always arguements over what to call different classes, interesting stuff!
I have been still using ship names resembling IRL classifications Fighter = light small grid. Bomber = a heavier small grid Corvette = a small grid that is Small Ships Gone Wild Destroyer = a smaller Large ship mostly guns designed to take on Small crafts and a couple torpedoes or Railguns. This is your standard 4 person team ship in Starcore Cruiser = your standard Artilery + Railgun turret monster with minimal point defense. This is your standard for a 2 person team in Starcore Carrier = the biggest big ships i build. Drone Carriers that might have similar offense to a Destroyer for protection, but it's main armament is the Fighter and Bomber drones. These are sized for Potato single-person Team in Starcore. It's been a while since i checked out Starcore (there was Drama in the UA-camr and Modder scene and i assumed it fell apart), i should look into it again.
Its as good as i waa hoping, but flagship isnt the only term. Half-tato is also vert widespread. I think that range division is also critically important as most people build ships for a specific range bracket, the naming isnt neat there though. Maybe rushdown/midrange/kiter?
Carriers, gunboats, face huggers, kiter's, snipers, missileboats, etc. Those are all prefixes to add before the Brawler, Tank, Fastmover, etc. Sniper tanks are popular, if you cant control the range with speed why not do it with guns. Face hugging brawlers have all the knife fighting weapons that do the most damage but have the shortest range. One of the most dangerous threats to any ships. Then we also add in prefixes that could refer to the main gun of a ships armorment if the gun is popular/notorious enough and the player has gone mostly all in on it. It could be as generic as "turret ship" or "fixed gun ship" if they bring almost exclusively turrets or fixed guns that you aim, or more specific like a hunter ship or monopole ship, because they went heavily into a more uniform loadout.
I call the ships around 12.5m "Cruisers" and then add their specification in front of that. For instance a "light missile cruiser" would be a 8-10mil ship with mainly missiles as weaponary. Brawlers in my head are Cruisers specified for CQC with a lot of shorter range, heavy hitting weaponary.
I mean, dreadnought is a weird class, theres no real set size for a dreadnought, its typically reserved for any ship that carries an absolutely gargantuan amount of fuck you, like, as far as real world ships, there were dreadnoughts and super dreadnoughts that were the size of heavy cruisers, for example, the iowa class battleship actually dwarfed pretty much every super dreadnought ever built
Maybe you are wrong about this, that is a dreadnaught to their ship line. That is a destroyer to their ship line. Sizes have varied even in our real life history and what they class a dreadnaught or battleship or cruiser battle cruiser destroyer etc have changed.
so what youre saying..........is that there are multiple terms/names for classifying things and that no one is wrong and you just fucked up the title by not saying IN THIS MODE WE CALL THEM "THIS" cause we want to feel special

What are those 3x bigboy guns you see at 1:45 ?

Best narrative, cant wait for more!
Nicely done. 👍

FIRST!
seriously tho, good explanation! something i can link to the newbies to get them up to speed!

A few minutes in to the video I basically say this too. The title may be clickbait, but the content itself is about StarCore callouts only.
I'll call it what I want in my own fleet progression thanks 👍 still cool.vid though
this is an ad for starcore.
thanks for the misleading title :)
Your welcome

Welcome to clickbait
Well, my Ship class thingiey is greatest and your ship class thingey is worse
Your English is horrible
