I like what Dr. Billy Graham said. He said that while he believes that the Bible is the God breathed (inspired) word of God he does not believe that any English translation necessarily is. His approach was to compare at least four translations, hopefully from four different perspectives, liberal, conservative, literalist, etc. and attempt to arrive at a good idea of what the original said. That is to be done with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
I’m new to reading the Bible and made a commitment to read the entire book in a year . I’ve tried a few versions but the KJV resonates with me the most. The poetic prose feels like it’s God’s voice . Someone recommended the modern version ( The Message) since I’m new to it but I didn’t care for it at all.
I remember talking to a friend about Sodom and Gomorrah when the men of the city told Lot to bring the Angels out so they could know them and he said don't do this evil thing to them in the KJV know means sex and Adam knew his wife again, and she bares a son. My friend said his Bible didn't say that I think it was a newly translated version and it said to bring them out so we might understand them how would understanding someone be evil? that showed me how some translations completely misinterpret God's word. In relation to what version of the bible I use, my reply will be .. I use a number of them.. because to get a broader understanding I compare each to the other and go from there.
