Many thanks for the great video, followed your instructions bought a set of pattern seals and fitted, but they still leak ,my bike has only done 11000 miles and the forks are like new, have I put the seals in the right way up, I put the brand name and number's facing on top, this end also has the spring in it. ( I can see the writing etc now they are fitted in position) my bike is same as the one you demonstrated on I would appreciate your help. Many thanks again for your very helpful video's. Dave
I’ve only had new forks seals leek, if the replacements where super cheep, (what brand were yours???) since then I’ve exclusively use pyramids seals and never had a problem..... First thing to do would be, check that its not just left over oil/greace from the rebuild (pump them up and down and wipe clean for a bit) I cant remember which way is up on all seals but the writing side up sounds right Lastly take it all apart and check for gouging in the fork bottoms as a previous owner could have removed the old seals aggressively with a screwdriver Or something And damaged them
Sorry to have to bother you again, I have a Clymer manual for the 250 Nighthawk 91/97 mine is 2000 the fork oil capacity says 238 cc or 8.1 ozs, It doesn't say if thats for each fork leg.as mentioned before the seals are leaking worse than before the replacement, I measured the 238cc into each fork and they are quite stiff (don't go down as far now) maybe the 238cc should be for the two fork legs. Could you please tell me how much you put in your's before I go ahead and buy new seals again, wondering if I've just over filled , really grateful for your help. Dave
I do it by the distance from the top of the fork leg to the oil level Haynes says its 165mm for the nighthawk so i just run it the same as that as the two bikes are almost identical
Loving your CB250 vids. I have a ratty one I am fixing up. Whats the correct amount of fork oil to use? I am having a problem finding it on the interweb, thnks.
(Sorry this took so long) according to my battered Haynes manual For the cb250 fork capacity 152cc (5.1 fl oz) Distance from top of fork tube 165mm (6.5 inches)
@@OneBoysDreamFilm Thank you ever so much for your replies ,I have over filled quiet a lot, your video on the 500 seal change is really helpful, although I have been riding for 65 years I haven't had to change fork seals before, and you have been a God send with your help both in your videos and comments. Big thank you and will let you know how I get on. Dave
I’m 6’2 and ride the cb500... the little 250 is my wife’s bike, I ride it every so often and love it, it’s just so light to chuck about, but a little small for me and my 100kg
