    Being "old school," I popped the hood , fumbled around for the spark plug wires . . . couldn't find them . . . scratched my head, then, found your demo. Thanks for explaining this "how to." I miss the days when a backyard mechanics like my dad & I, could look at a lot of the issues & using common sense, figure it out. When working on my '72 Plymouth Duster, there was so much room under the hood that I could find everything that needed fixing. But now, there is so much stuff under the hood there is hardly room enough to stick your arm in there to find what you're looking for. They do run better & cleaner now though.

    My 2008 Toyota Rav 4 started shaking this morning and check engine came on along with the VSC and skid warning lights. Took it to Speedy oil change and they scanned it with their OBD 1 scanner gun and saw a misfire on coil number 4.
    They replaced it and recommended doing all 4 now since the others will eventually be bad but I refused it due to budget. They also tuned it up changed all 4 spark plugs. Cost was about $350 out the door 😩

    How do I know if I have a socket wrench that does spark plugs? My grandpa left me a bunch of tools and I need to do my spark plugs on my 2007 rav4, my suv every now and then will start longer then normal or sometimes start rough

      Toyota spark plugs use 5/8 socket, the Prius uses 9/16 socket

      @@PartyWolf36790 yeah those spark plug sockets has either a rubber insert or a magnet in them to pull the spark plugs out.

    Hi, I was wonder where do you find info like torque spec for the spark plugs etc? Thanks.

    • @NutzAboutBolts
      @NutzAboutBolts  9 років тому +1

      nickolastiguan you can find them all online sometimes.

    • @watershed44
      @watershed44 9 років тому +3

      nickolastiguan Snug is usually more than good enough the plugs all have crush washers on them, the way to tell when they are correctly tightened without a torque wrench is to use 3/8 " wrench, then start tightening you will start to feel some resistance this is the crush washer being deformed, then continue tightening until you start to again feel a more significant resistance, the crush washer has been deformed to properly seal the plug in its home, you are now good to go.

      You have to torque it at 25 foot pound. Which is like tighten with your hand.

    The use of copper grease on the plugs threads is discouraged owing to the possibility of the plug being overtorqued. Otherwise a fine video, thanks.
