- When I finally let go of my 1999 Toyota Corolla I wanted to document my impressions of the car. The good and bad. A real consumer's report, where I was the consumer. Reviewing a car, that my wife and I purchased brand new from a Toyota dealership (Vimont Toyota in Laval Quebec Canada) in 1999. It was our primary car until about 2013/14 . At that point in time it became our secondary car. My son learned how to drive manual on it! And when I let it go, it was still running on the original clutch. I hope you enjoy the video!
Thanks for watching
major repairs: exhaust manifold was changed. (in the back of engine!)
throttle cable rusted and broke - the complete unit was changed
because the mechanic couldn't reattach the new cable!
accident-ed twice: hit by the back while stopped because someone was too busy on their phone! seriously!!
and hit and run on front driver side fender- when a car turned too quickly into my street and slid into my car-pushing it up against the sidewalk with enough force to bend the rim on the passenger side wheel. (turned out that a witness saw the whole thing and identified the other driver as, are you ready for this? my neighbor!!
Damn, a lot of rust. I have a 99 with 0 rust...location makes a huge difference.
There were holes in the floor. At that point I let it go, lol. But it started and ran till the end! Great car!
I have the same car. 214k miles and still running strong 💪
Still rocking my 99 Corolla. 318k miles on it. It simply won't die. Its been a giant pain in the ass lately though, have had to replace the rack & pinion, an axle, and wheel bearings. That stuff would wear out on any car eventually though.
They are really dependable cars!
I've got 140K on my 99 corolla. Any major repairs that I should keep an eye out for? Thanks and happy Holidays!
I gave my 1999 Corolla to my mom and unfortunately a Tundra totaled it but even though it was so damaged, it still worked.
Fluid film / wool wax every year would of saved this car
bro what happened to your car
In Quebec we have hard winters with lots of snow. The city regularly salts the streets. The salt eats the car. parts of the floor were gone! The car still ran, but was too dangerous. It served us well though!!
Base model no less!
Hope you still own this car
no, unfortunately it died many years ago. the body rusted out.
I have the 1998 same car with the same colour and wheels, however it's an auto 4 speed. Yours is a NUMMI car, mine is TMMC.
With the 5 speed manual , the car was quite quick! I enjoyed that about the car.
tonytheturtle I'm gonna plan to put power windows on it but I need an LE model to rip the stuff out of.
well you didn't take care of it properly, because frist you should of oil spray that car, every yr for 80 dollars or so,and your car would be still like brand new,I have one,and mine is from calfornia just like new,and i oil it every yr for 50 bucks
I did spray the car!! Mine was in Canada where it ate salt for breakfast, lunch and supper, during the winter months, so it rotted...
@@tonytheturtle LOL nothing like a guy from California giving advice on preventing rust on cars!
LOL!
Nick Summy hahaha my thoughts exactly
R u french
no
He sounds canadian
that's funny "sounds canadian" lol but truth is I am canadian. English my primary language, I do speak enough french however to communicate in french.
@@tonytheturtle haha honestly it sounded like a minnesota / wisconsin accent, but when I saw the km on the speedometer I made an educated guess!
