I went from the cult of Armstrong, To new charismatic and word of faith. But now I’m a Lutheran went to my first Lutheran church today and that’s partly because of you thank you praise be to God!

Kevin Swaggerty. I just googled the cult of Armstrong. I read an account of an ex member. Wow such classic cult behaviours carried out by a classic toxic leader. I am in a work place that is very similar to this template model. The tragic anger I feel is toward my boss who is intentionally manipulating hurt, caring people. I feel this too for my colleagues who are being manipulated while believing they themselves must work harder as clearly the problems are not due to my boss but to themselves. They defend the very one who is very deceptively and cruelly using and abusing them. And the tragic thing is saying anything to them will only see me as a trouble maker. I’m so thankful that God opened my eyes and saved me from false church, false teachings and false conversion. I am constantly astounded at how MANY versions of false ‘church/God’ are preached and peddled.

Thank you pastor Wolfmueller, This is a fantastic lecture, especially the insights on the Ten Commandments fencing God's institutions from being defiled and the anti-catechisms of Satan trying to disorder God's institutions. Very profound, and I'd never thought of the Ten Commandments in this way before. I belonged to a Reformed/Calvinist church for close to 20 years, and in hindsight I'm amazed at how blind i was to the confusuon of law and gospel and the subtle works based nature of my church. Am very pleased with my new church home, Glory of Christ LCMS

The law/gospel distinction, or lack thereof, is the root of all the nonsense in the evangelical world in my opinion. I was laity in that world for forty years, not sure if I ever "fully surrendered" or "really meant it this time."
Your work is desperately needed and is appreciated.
For any fellow confused evangelicals, see also:
-Dr. Rod Rosenbladt "The Gospel for Those Broken by the Church"
-Go to Issues, Etc. On demand archives, listen to everything Pastors Wolfmueller and Chris Rosebrough you can, as well as Dr Rosenbladt
Everything becomes clear when you see LCMS teaching is from the Bible, not a magic feeling in one's heart.
Apologies for the hijack, and thank you sir!

I’ve heard they say never to trust a clean shaven pastor... in this case I’m making an exception.
Actually no one says that, but anyway this was great! Awesome as always.

Hello Pastor, I love your videos! I’m a lutheran (ELCA) but I love how much more grounded the LCMS is in the Confessions. I also really love the Roman Catholic Church, I have found in the lectures of father Chad Ripperger great insight especially in regard to the Virtues and how it takes practice to build virtue. I was wondering what a lutheran view on virtue would be? Father’s talks have helped me tremendously on bringing order and discipline into my own personal life, but I wonder how that fits into the Theology of the cross?

Thank you Pastor. I do have a question for you. Does God forgive our sins if we do not ask him? If he does, then why do we petition God to forgive us in our prayers? So are we not "helping ourselves" by praying for God's forgiveness? The fact that I know to pray for his forgiveness is all to the Glory of our Lord, and the Holy Spirit. But doesn't the Lord expect me to "help myself" by praying for his mercy? Salvation is all to God's glory. Eternal damnation is my fault alone. Or so I was taught in confirmation classes 40 some years ago.

When talking to non-LCMS church goers please, please be gentle. Use the words "law and gospel." They're taught they are 'redeemed' not sinners needing forgiveness. Salvation is like citizenship; a one and done event. Their faith is in their faith not understanding that God gives us faith in His promises and if we lose our minds to dementia He does not forget us even though we don't remember Him. God be praised!

When God provided the opportunity for contrition and faith in the Gospel promises for my mother-in-law (an impenitent Roman Catholic) during her suffering with Alzheimer's, as I was ministering to her He encouraged my soul by remembering the baptismal promises he made to her in her infancy. It is His Word and promises in that Word that the Holy Spirit uses to create and sustain faith and comfort our hearts having washed away our sin in the midst of our doubt, uncertainty, anxiety, fear, and forgetfulness. Our reason plays no part in faith, rather it is the beneficiary of it. But we need His Word continually spoken to us (even when we can't remember it from 5 minutes ago). What a wonderful thing that the Triune Godhead has done and does all this work for us and that we don't have too! Christ died even for those who are unable to remember! God be praised!
Now what was i doing...? :)

I have a question as a young and newly married Christian woman in regards to the "hedonism" thing when talking about birth control and the sexual revolution around 1:08:47. Does that mean you don't agree with women taking birth control or maybe contraceptives at all and would it be sin to? Or if my husband was to get himself a vasectomy is that a sin? My husband and I mutually have agreed we don't want to procreate but rather adopt kids that need homes instead and we're passionate about that, but it's also due to my mother's family having a line of dangerously problematic births/pregnancies.

Could anti-baptism be those that don't believe in infant baptism. If they were baptized as an infant, they renounce it and only view their adult baptism as valid. I've heard of their infant baptism being considered a christening only. This is very hard to hear from a loved one.

2:26:45 "only the Lutheran church has the forgiveness of sins in baptism and the Lord's Supper" can you please make a video on that? Isn't the forgiveness of sins for whomever believes, and is not this same forgiveness found in reformed or baptist churches?

    • @Mygoalwogel

I'm a Lutheran in the same denomination as Pr. Wolfmueller. Actually, he might have included Anglicans in this, except that Anglicans accept a wider variety of views of the Supper. I think the Anglican Luther scholar, Dr. Philip Cary, stated this point most succinctly.
      Evangelicalism:
Major Premise: Whoever believes will be saved. (i.e. has the forgiveness of sins.)
      Minor Premise: I believe that I believe truly. (i.e. I don't think I'm a hypocrite.)
Conclusion: I believe that I will be saved.
      Lutheranism:
Major Premise: God said to me, "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. You are mine and I am yours."
Minor Premise: God is not a liar and only tells the truth.
Conclusion: God baptized me. I am his and he is mine.
The Evangelical faith relies heavily on the faithfulness of the Evangelical. The Lutheran faith relies on God's promise alone. Lutheranism believes in salvation by faith alone in GOD'S PROMISE alone. Evangelicalism believes in salvation by faith alone in ONES OWN faith alone.

@@Mygoalwogel Thanks for explaining, might I ask a bit more?
Does not the Lutheran then have faith in their faith in God's promise, which the evangelical would also? I mean, there is still faith involved, isn't there? Reformed would be adamant that the faith is in itself a grace from God as well, would that not be the case for Evangelicals and Lutherans as well?
What does this mean for those who got baptized but never believed, is that a thing in Lutheranism? Or does this almost cause a form of universalism where baptism saves even those who reject God throughout their life?
