Here's a quick and inexpensive way to build telephone poles for your ho layout! You can also make many variations of it on your own, too. Hope this helps! Enjoy :) -Tim
I made my own with wooden dowels and some plastic details. The ones they sell are flimsy plastic. I sharpen the ends in a pencil sharpener before glueing into foam base. I used wooden sticks from hobby lobby for cross arms. They also work for flat car lumber loads. File a notch in the pole for the cross arm.
Hi, I made a similar telephone pole 5 years ago. My telephone pole looks similar to yours except I used wooden chopsticks and wooden matchsticks. The matchsticks were thin and short that I glued one thin matchsticks onto another and used another short portion of combined matchsticks for the cross arm. The wooden matchsticks were also used for insulator and braces.

Thats great! Gotta love simplicity
@@timscorner657 Thanks. I couldn't find the square styrene strip so I used thin matchsticks for the insulators and braces.
The little grey things that hold the wire are called insulators, just FYI. Poles look great.
Good project and great results. The "crossbar"is commonly called a "cross arm".
