- I got a few requests to show some of my methods for modeling track side codeline poles for the layout. Using RIX products poles, I show how to model damaged crossarms, missing insulators, cut wires, and other little details to add realism to another small but important detail to your layout!
They look very good. The left over, broken wire is a great idea.
Thank You Paul for your dedication and diligence.

Really enjoyed your video and timely too as I am adding some poles to my yard. On the CPR on the back of employees timetables were drawings of insulator placement as a way of identifying the subdivision and also as some carried hydro which of the wires were hydro vs telephone or telegraph
Great video and cool layout! I am actually working on the same Rix poles for my CSX Garrett Sub layout era 1992. Thanks for sharing! ~Ted
You have a nice looking railroad.
I’ve been watching you for like 5 years and dude your models blow me away
Nice details. When I was an engineer I noticed that the prototype code line cross arms usually alternated mounting on each side of the poles. This would minimize the number of poles or crossarms pulled down in case of an accident snagging the wires. Another unusual detail I noticed between Benson Az and Shawmutt Az on the UPRR (Former SP) Sun Set Route was an insulator and power line on the very top of the pole identifying each mile location. Most likely done before actual mile posts were installed. Your poles with crossarms really add to the background.
Thanks Dan for sharing your line pole how-to-vid. Really brings a real life vibe to your prototype layout if it's modern era or a fallinflag line.
Those Rix cross arm & pole's have been around for years and the best that's been on the market.
Years back, Rix once offered a clear green tint cross arm set (No. 628-35) which are awesome, luckily I picked up a dozen or so sets when first released. The clear green tint plastic give the best appearance of the glass insulators used on the Proto Railroad line poles. Paint the cross arms a brown leaving the green tint insulators clear. Unfortunately they've been out of production for years.
Everyone needs to email Rix Products to get them to produce these again!!

My man! Thank you for making the video appreciate it greatly.
Very cool video !!
Love your attention to details. Layout looks great!
Dan, only you could make telephone poles interesting. Very cool.
Great work. I would like to see weeds/vines going up the poles. Or have an bird nest.
Nice video Dan. Telegraph poles are always a great addition to any layout. Loving the detail on your ones. - Nicholas.
Nice Dan Nice
They look great Dan, do you know if they make them in O scale?
I saw O Scale poles like these in a Scenic Express catalog book before, you might want to search Scenic Express online to see if they still offer them .
Hi Dan love watching your videos, your attention to detail is awesome. Nice work my friend!😊
