To answer why the Winchester, it was used in military service by the US from 92 until 2006. Though even during those times Mossberg 590A1's and Remington 870 MCS shotguns were more common. I recall reading it was used by the SAS as well for a brief time but can't seem to source that information. For the M16A4, in multiplayer it is the correct 3 round burst, Campaign mode had a few odd changes compared to MP. Such as the G3A4 being full auto in Campaign but multiplayer it was semi automatic only which would be more true to form and usage.

Star Citizen from top to bottom runs on Rule of Cool - to be fair the devs kind of acknowledge it, but it's in a funny position where _at a glance_ it looks 'more realistic' than other scifi games, but actually almost nothing in the game makes sense if you think about it for too long.
Comments re- long range are spot on. 2007 era m40 are Unertl 10x. Not represented in teh game but the A3 did use an internal magazine. The Current version is the M40A6, which originally used the A5s PM2 3-12x50, but you would often see the PM2s switched out for the ATACR 5-25s from the MK13 Mod 7s. Mod 7s were seen as a prepared capability, where as the A6s were seen as a rapid deployment capability. The TeMR3 Reticle on the ATACR is preferred to the gen 2 mil dot on the 3-12 so even though the M40A6 only had a 20" barrel, the ATACR provided a lot more visibility, capability and target confirmation vs the 3-12s
I’d like to see a video about assassins creed, mainly the flintlock rifles and pistols from assassins creeds 3,4,rogue, and unity, as well as the semi auto pistols and revolvers we use in assassins creed syndicate.
I know I'm gonna get roasted for this but I do sincerely hope Jonathan reacts to Free Fire's guns because it's firearm mechanics are just built different. As a firearms expert, his reaction would probably be all over the place
I reckon a big reason why the sights are always a bit "off" is that a human eyeball and a videogame "camera" don't work the same way, and modeling the sight 100% might not work properly in a game. Cameras in games are essentially a single point, afaik, whereas the MK1 Eyeball has width
Jonathan, apologies for being nitpicky; the MP-5 trigger group in the game, and your hands, IS the Navy trigger group. There are trigger groups with 2 and 3 round burst of course, but the Navy is always ambi safe/semi/full with the pictograms.
Probably my favourite series on this channel, this might get some hate but Jonathan should review some of Call of Duty Mobile’s guns (specifically the Mythic weapons)
For the 50 cal section: There are plates that can stop .50 cal fire. They were made for helicopter pilots and because of their size and bulk are very infrequently seen. So a person running on the ground taking a .50 to the plates is going to take a bullet through the torso. A human torso can be approximated very roughly as 18 inches wide and 36 inches tall give or take. That's .6 mils wide by 1.3 mils tall. My Leupold Mk 5 HD maxes out at 18x magnification and at that magnification there is the barest hint of the tenth mil row, so the field of view is about 20 mils in diameter. Zakhaev is way too tall in that scope image, he should be 6.5% the height of the overall scope view, though the scope may just have a very narrow field of view. Fun thing, I have to zoom out a decent bit to engage targets past 1000 yards with that scope with 5.56 if I'm not able to take the time to dial drop. On an old mil dot reticle that'd be his torso a bit taller than the gap between the crosshair and the first marking, so he shouldn't be taller than the crosshair to the third hash mark below it.
I love these videos, but I feel they mostly show the same weapons... Yes, in part because one game might have a bit more detail than the other, but there are other weapons in the game that the museum might probably have (and even if they don't, getting Jonathan's opinion on them is of great interest anyways). In any case, thanks again Gamespot and Mr. Ferguson!!!
I shoot fairly often at around 300 and up to 1000 whenever I can get a slot on the calendar. That M82 scene in MW looks like hes about 50-75 yards away
the M16 in Mw1 is the same Gun but updated but the Single Player version of the M16 is Actually Based off the M16A3 with the KAC Rails system but in the MP version of the Game it uses the Burst Fire version of the M16A4
“I didn’t come all zis vay for you to be gentle viss me alright, I need you to slap me hard, alright, I need to go into battery” Much love for the PSR reference!
Please do Enlisted, it is a very accurate ww2 game, and is also one of my favorite FPS games, so seeing a review of this game would be great and very interesting. I also forgot to add that this game also has some guns that I almost never see in fps games, so I think Johnathan would be very interested of some of the guns that are in this game.
Might I suggest making a video about some VR games that have come out with good/bad weapon mechanics? Games like Pavlov, Onward, Contractors, and others would be cool to see. Especially considering how much more detail has to go into each and every nook and cranny of both visuals and functions of the weapons in game.
I’m surprised you didn’t talk about the FAMAS. For whatever reason, the model they used for the FAMAS had a gas piston above the barrel, despite the FAMAS not being gas operated.
Looks like 200-300m in the M82 section 6:55, as the heli gives you good parallax shift and hovers low into line of sight. If 800m you'd have be on a mountain, not a hill as depicted, and the sound of the heli explosion reaching you as if it blew up within 150m or so further supports that 800m is an exaggeration.

Star Citizen from top to bottom runs on Rule of Cool - to be fair the devs kind of acknowledge it, but it's in a funny position where _at a glance_ it looks 'more realistic' than other scifi games, but actually almost nothing in the game makes sense if you think about it for too long.
“Sir, they have a .50!!”
“What?! Let me see! Oh, it’s semi-automatic. Don’t worry, for balance reasons you’ll be fine!”
I don't think you have ever reviewed the guns from DooM, that would be lovely to see some one day
A video about Black Ops 3 guns should be interesting 🤔
My gun of choice in cod4 was always the m14, red dot, red tiger. I called her Matilda.
Man I love these videos of the ICONIC Jonathan Ferguson!!
For the 50 cal section:
There are plates that can stop .50 cal fire.
If suggestions are still accepted, I'd love to see a video on the weapons of Verdun/Tannenberg. Those games don't get enough love, haha
Odd how I just started playing COD 4 remastered two weeks and and you've only just now made a video about it. Great timing I guess.
That M82 scene in MW looks like hes about 50-75 yards away
the M16 in Mw1 is the same Gun but updated but the Single Player version of the M16 is Actually Based off the M16A3 with the KAC Rails system but in the MP version of the Game it uses the Burst Fire version of the M16A4
I love that Jonathan doesn't sweep the camera (=us).
PSR getting a mention, nice
“I didn’t come all zis vay for you to be gentle viss me alright, I need you to slap me hard, alright, I need to go into battery”
Much love for the PSR reference!
I hate seeing the Barrett take out the Havoc because a Mil Mi-28 Havoc's windscreen can withstand 14,5mm AP rounds
Would be cool to see Jonathan take a look at the guns in DayZ as that's supposed to be a semi-realistic game with some cool weapons
I think he had already done a video on one of the ARMA games, if not a couple of them.
I absolutely love these videos, i do have a weird fascination with firearms.. lovely stuff
For whatever reason, the model they used for the FAMAS had a gas piston above the barrel, despite the FAMAS not being gas operated.
oh my god, he knows about PSR's HK slap music video
Looks like 200-300m in the M82 section 6:55, as the heli gives you good parallax shift and hovers low into line of sight. If 800m you'd have be on a mountain, not a hill as depicted, and the sound of the heli explosion reaching you as if it blew up within 150m or so further supports that 800m is an exaggeration.
Squad made the 3 round burst work as intended
The M16A4 also had a automatic variant called the RO901
Im so glad he knows about Full Tacs HK Slap
I love this series Johnathan makes me happy :)
Dark Tide is releasing soon. Would love for Johnathan to dissect the guns there
