You should of wash bowl and lid with soap and water first before cooking. I have been using sistema cookware for years. I have never had a plastic smell.
Very inefficient to boil more water than you need for the product. Just follow the noodle mfg instructions for microwave cooking. Typically put noodles in microwave container , cover with water, put in microwave, bring to boil, put in flavor packets let set a few minutes. All plastic will smell when hot. Use glass or boil water in it several times to reduce/eliminate the smell. It will go away.

You have a point there. I noticed plastic smell almost gone after a few uses.

To make it faster, yes. You can do it all in the microwave, but it will have to stay longer in the microwave.
@A Dawn All microwaves are not created equal. I can boil water faster and more efficiently in my microwave than I can on my electric stove.
@@ADawn Aproximately twice as fast with half as much power makes it 4 times more efficient.
