I appreciate your admiration for Linkara’s storyline segments! If I’m not in the mood for them, I know when they stop & end, which is a step up from Doug’s stuff.
I wasn't super invested in That Guy with the Glasses until like 2014 (for personal reasons, mainly being the first time I had unimpeded access to UA-cam and the Internet) so this is gonna be almost like seeing the Internet Archives of online reviewers I am very familiar with NC, Lindsay Ellis, and Phelous. Most others I know in Passing due to overlap of very specific topics (like Linkara covering Trails in the Sky) which is gonna be interesting cuz I'm not too familiar with everyone the site was home to
I feel for me Doug's story was nostalgic but I feel it hasn't aged well. While Doug isn't as toxic compared to the averagr youtube critic. He didn't improve or changed his analysis skills. Instead of mellowing out he keep on running out of stuff to say for The Nostaglia Critic. The Nostalgia Critic is an era that while I did enjoyed.....I do not want to look at it again. Especially the controversy surrounding the company involving the poor worling conditions or mistresting youtubers. I feel the movie where The Show Must Go On (The Perfect Blue UA-cam Version) represents how I feel about Doug. He cannot move on from being The Nostalgia Critic. The critic is a curse he must be with. And that's why I feel that movie made him perfectly encalsulates Doug. He may be self aware he is not exciting as a youtuber anymore but without The Nostalgia Critic himself and the brand he is continuing a cycle of nothingness. The passion is not there anymore and perhaps he knows he sadly inspired the toxic critic landscape but now the show must go on.
In some of the skits, they’re cynical, but other times you can very well see the passion he has for stuff. I can take or leave him, but when he’s good, he’s still pretty good.
