TW: Later on in this video I get somewhat drunk and I regret that. Please know that going in. I apologize for that. The third video is when the quality of my commentary drops dramatically.
What the hell... That statement might be true when applied to 19th century race science. Where, sure, in that context, that is somewhat true. But nowadays it's not quite like that?? There are some form of xenophobia and racism which apply to people of European countries (e.g. anti-Slavic sentiment, or other prejudices toward Eastern Europeans at large) but like?? What the hell is THAT statement?! I haven't even seen the context yet but I doubt it'll make anything make sense...
Sorry I didn’t show up, but I do agree with you fully. When jar was talking about maple and amethyst like that I literally went to fight or flight mode as I have similar experiences as those characters, also the Lapis critiques back in the day were and still are very dehumanizing. Your ending reaction was honestly justified and you’re far more emotionally resilient than I. Here’s some clams for your troubles 🫂
JAR repeatedly citing Jaden Animations becomes super creepy once you learn that he commissioned porn fan art of her. It's the same thing with Synnibear, JAR puts women on a pedestal and starts simping for them because he wants to fuck them. He is a creep.
Definitely agree. Also his whole rhetoric behind why it doesn’t matter to draw porn of someone who explicitly asked people not to make porn of it is so fucking braindead. On top of simply disrespecting her boundaries and being a creep, he ignores how Jaiden literally is aroace. Aroace ppl can enjoy some things but speaking as an aroace, the creepiness just adds on top of disrespecting someone’s orientation
Growing up I always saw myself more in Dipper, but I'm still going to defend my girl Mable till the end! She is 12! (about to turn 13 but still!) When she handed over the rift to Bill she was in a very vulnurable emotional state and somebody she though of as a friend offered her a solution. And the bubble was specifically designed to be the perfect fantasy world. Why wouldn't she stay? Alex said himself that Dipper usually learns the lessons since he's basically kid Alex. So it makes sense for Dipper to make more sacrifices. But all these sacrifices are adressed in sock opera! The whole point of that episode is Mable sacrificing something for Dipper! "Oh but the lesson didn't stick, because of the series finale." Those are two completely different situations! All the times before it was usually Mabels crush vs Dippers crush or some mystery. Here it's her best friend since birth leaving her during a very new and scary time (aka your teenage years) when she thought that he was the one person she could count on. Of course a 12 year old would act like that! I also just don't like people that have the same mindset as Ford since the show literally proved him wrong. He thinks that there are special people destined to do great things and there are people who are not. That completley isolates you from everybody you don't deem "great" (aka most people). Just look at what the towns people thought of young Ford! And I mean he totally was weird. He only had McGucket and a freaking triangle for crying out loud. And when one left and the other turned against him he started going crazy. And Dipper was 12 at the time of Fords offer! He just saw himself in Dipper and wanted a friend. Arguably him not telling Mable about the Rift also caused Weirdmageddon! If he simply told everybody in the family how important it was, Mable wouldn't have handed it over!
It's so annoying how many people will hate Mabel and then think Ford is great. Dude is a self-aggrandizing jerk whose arrogance lead to a doomsday portal being made. I feel like the narrative itself knows this. The most memorable moment implying this to me is Ford calling himself a hero in Weirdmaggedon, only to miss his shot on Bill and get turned to gold a few minutes later. Meanwhile Mabel is just a kid, and a lot of the show's finale is her character maturing and realizing she has to grow up. All of this is coming from someone that just rewatched the show.
Arguably is an understatement it’s a fact as stated by the author also when you look at that scene it’s a weird ball she gave up for her wish if she knew if could lead to the apocalypse she’s obviously be more hesitant
Guys like jar will see any capable woman and assume that they're naturally too weak and must be a mary sue (for the love of god can we please retire that phrase? It felt outdated in 08 on deviantart) Im not even that big a star wars fan, but it was pretty obvious to me that Rey had be able to defend herself, seeing as she grew up alone on a hostile planet
I cringe at how I used to enjoy watching JAR and MangaKamen's content before realizing how bad they are at making their arguments in their videos and on twitter.
Not gonna lie Mangakamen was cringe but still kinda enjoyable. He used to be someone who really just wants to share his opinions about things he likes. But I think he fell off when he made his Critical drinker hommage and got influenced by bozos like Drinker. Also Kamen's Sweet Baby Video is uninformed trash and his "the right (and wrong) way to make x" videos are just patronizing and poor attempts at writing advice. I'd rather watch Super Eyepatch wolf interpreting too much meaning into a thing. At least it would be an interesting thing thats been told to me...
@@cyruscrompton8221He is ok, I used to watch him a lot. And he can be a decent essayist also I really like his drawings. It's just that he gets influenced by grifters like the Critical Drinker which he would be better off without. MK still has his Sweet Baby Inc video with all his misinformed opinions up and additionally he is not that well receptive to even constructive criticism. Fe. I had a small nitpick with his title of a video and he responded in a really cranky way like he never wants to bothered like that.
The last minute of JAR's mary sue video just proves that he has no idea what he's talking about. "Female Mary Sues don't have harems" is so laughably false. The only reason he thinks this is because he only consumes media made for men or both men and women. The Star Wars sequels are still meant to target a wide range of people, so of course they don't go full female power fantasy. However, lots of shoujo (aimed at teen girls) anime and manga have boys inexplicably fawning over the female main character for little reason, just like how many shonen do the same but gender reversed. The main difference I've seen is that shoujo tends to cap the love interests at two, preferring to have better developed guys in love with the mc. Also, he thinks that Korra dating a girl is a Mary Sue quality. I don't think it's possible to argue that that isn't biphobic.
@ In his defense, he doesn’t think Korra is a Mary Sue, just has Mary Sue qualities. He acknowledges that she loses some battles and is therefore not a Mary Sue (logic doesn’t apply to Rey for some reason), but she has qualities that are Mary Sue adjacent like having two boys like her and also ends up with a girl (biphobia, I’ll let my bi friends know that they’re too powerful). I personally don’t think that Mako and Bolin liking her is Mary Sue-ish but rather bad romance writing. I don’t understand why Mako likes Korra but also don’t understand why Korra likes Mako (they hate each other at first and don’t really bond before Korea’s crush is revealed. Why does she like this jerk?), also don’t understand why Asami likes Mako (I think it’s leftover from the first draft where she was tricking him to get information on Korra). The only one I understand is Bolin liking Korra because they seem to get along from the get-go, but that gets dropped quickly, which is probably for the best. I can’t handle more angles. I also realized that JAR contradicts his own harem conclusion there. He claims that female Mary Sues don’t have harems and yet calls Korra’s multiple love interests a Mary Sue quality
@@theshire9173 This whole love triangle mess was because creators didn't know that they would get more seasons. That's the reason why Book 1 is more or less self-contained mini series and why they end season with makorra. They didn't get green light for more seasons before they finished most of the production of Book 1. It's actually interesting when you realize that script for Book 2 (and makorra brake-up) was written back in 2011 before anyone even saw 1 scene of TLOK. Makorra was dead on arrival. If you hate the love triangle 2.0 in Book 2, it was made deliberately, bryke wanted you to hate that whole romance mess. They written themselves in the corner with Book 1, this was their way to write themselves out.
Oh veinly disguised homophobia and the like disguised as criticism is nothing new, I remember seeing a blog post criticizing Ouran that claimed Haruhi (cheating a bit since its not canonically clear if they’re LGBT but still were dealing specifically with particularly weird gender essentialism(? Might he using the wrong word) was a Mary Sue for being allowed to wear the make uniform and…that’s pretty much it. Nobody tell them that there are schools with uniforms that will allow girls to wear pants if requested!
Honestly, with what people say about Korra being a Mary Sue and the rationale they give for her being one..I can forbadum say the same about Steven Universe being a Gary Stu.
jar is so fascinating because he seems very close to figuring out that race is socially constructed and relative to one’s background… but he completely misses the point because of his lack of academic knowledge
After watching Cartoonshi's video defending Mabel. I've noticed that her biggest critics on youtube tend to be massive assholes themselves. Really makes ya think, huh
I legit did a double take during the live stream when JAR started glazing up the now-deleted CC West video as his reason to hate Mabel. As Cartoonshi pointed out, are we're really gonna let a POS like CC control the narrative when it comes to public perception of a character like Mabel?
While i do agree Mabel did act a bit too selfish and forgive a little too fast, however given she like 12 years old and the likes, it a bit understandable and their also pacing issue given finale was already a movie length
My problem is less that Mabel is flawed. She should be flawed but they always played up Dipper like he's a saint that deserves everything like are we suppose to just forget that Dipper warped time and space just to get a girl he stands no chance with to notice him? Mabel's biggest crime in that episode was missing her pig and she's the jerk?
In the "blackwashing" bit, the image for the anime even has Luffy who is canonically of a race that would be akin to BRAZILIAN in the real world... This MFs are DELULU
@@DemiCalavera Jaime Reyes is the current Blue Beetle, _(and in newer continuities like the Gunn films usually the only one)_ the previous two, Dan Garrett and Ted Kord, were white dudes. 4:13:30 I had to dip out of the stream here, but I wanted to point out several black people who influenced history. Ziryab, reinvented the oud, possibly invented toothpaste, and was arguably the world’s first rockstar. Mansa Musa, the richest man who ever lived. Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the godmother of rock and roll. Jesse Owens, the first American to win four gold medals. Edmond Albius, revolutionized the cultivation of vanilla. Madame CJ Walker, the first female millionaire in the US who donated to NAACP and the Tuskegee Institute. Marsha P Johnson, a pillar in the LGBTQ community for her bravery. These are the ones I remember from the top of my head. I invite others to add to the list.
2:48:00 This cope is wild. And it's still going. I remember when people justified whitewashing the cast of Avatar because only white people have blue and green eyes. Ignoring that it's all magic elemental color eyes.
JAR: Rey is a Mary Sue because she knows how to use the force without formal training Also JAR: Korra is not a Mary Sue despite being able to instinctively bend Fire, Earth, and Water without any training and start the series at nearly master level Like I don't think either are, but the lack of consistency is wild.
Uh, I can't believe that I have to agree with JAR here about Korra. Being able to bend elements isn't the same as mastering them. All benders can bend their native element as children without training because that's just the ability they are born with. In Korra case, her being able to bend 2 more elements besides water was the way to people find out that she's the Avatar at that young age. She was going through intensive training for the next 13 YEARS when we saw (after time skip) that she finally mastered firebending when she was 17 years old. She didn't started series at nearly master level, she trained for 13 YEARS to even get there. This is no difference when people can't difference between Lion Turtles giving bending powers and original benders that teach how to master those bending powers. You can see that with first Avatar Wan when he truly mastered firebending from the dragon.
@@ExtremeMadnessX True she wasn't a master but we saw her somewhere around 4-6 years old being able to bend every element (excluding air of course) at least at the level of competence of a trained adult soldier in her little demonstration. Compare that to Aang who seemingly wasn't capable of any actual bending outside of air without training. Again I don't have a problem with this myself just pointing out what I think is a flaw in his comparison.
@@ExtremeMadnessX Yeah its definitely not a Mary Sue thing, it is explained pretty well how she was able to use them so well with her training It is still pretty disappointing. Even more so with air :[ if theres a problem its not a sue problem
@@lizardman464 That was 1 few seconds scene. How do you get that conclusion? A few moves she knows doesn't mean she was master of elements. By that logic, every bender as a kid was master because they knew some moves. The point of that scene was to find out that she's the Avatar at that young age. Again, 13 actual YEARS for her to actually become master. Aang, on the other hand, became master in only 9 months...
Wait I just noticed this, why did Jar include Princess Bubblegum in as a CAL arts girl? No one in Adventure time is in that style, especially when it came to PB.
@ I don’t believe so, I just watched his response to his cal arts girl video talking about the style and he never mentioned about the school or the person who coined the term.
CAL arts was really hated on in the 2010s based on some legitimate reasons but also alot dumb and straight up made-up stuff so that probably is where the confusion on what is the CAL arts style comes from.
Nothings more annoying than people who whine about the CAL art style. Shit looks like that for a reason in cartoons, especially cartoons targeted for kids. They use that art style so it's not only easier for kids to draw the characters, but also easier for the people animating the show.
Honestly the most frustrating thing about a lot of these bad media takes (especially the ones focused primarily on cartoons and kids media) is the fact that in universe character flaws are viewed as bad writing when a lot of the time it's what makes these characters interesting. Steven Universe isn't saying Amethyst turning into Rose was a good thing, it very much displays it as a bad thing. But it does do a nice job showing Amethysts own insecurities and we are able to see her grow and mature throughout the series. I think it's very meaningful that she was the first of the Crystal Gems to fuse with Steven, since it represents how much she matured from earlier in the series. And the Mabel stuff, oh god the Mabel stuff. Dipper is just as selfish as Mabel is throughout the series, especially in regards to Wendy, but doesn't receive nearly as much criticism as his sister. You'd think based on JelloApocalypse and JAR's takes that Mabel is this menace who is constantly ruining peoples life, when in reality she's a sweet friendly person who brings people together and will go out of her way to help others, even if she is a bit misguided sometimes. Also while the decision she made that kicked off the finale was a selfish one, her intentions were she wanted to be happy with her friends and family for longer, which still does reflect her positive aspects. Also, I love Princess Bubblegum. The fact she is such a morally dubious person only makes her more fun to watch. Hell, part of the joke is that her Butler is one of the most evil characters in the series, it just so happens to work out that he never needs to clash with Finn and Jake. No one is a perfect paragon of morality on Adventure Time, even Finn has his flaws, but that's what makes it one of the best casts in any piece of media ever.
I feel like the reason why people tend to gloss over dipper’s flaws is because a lot of people related to dipper and sometimes would project themselves onto him
4:11:36 Idk Maybe all of the stories of enslave people getting freedom by running away or fighting back. By telling their stories in writing at the exact same time they weren’t allow to read or didn’t had a lot of resources. When they created their own communities with successful business before they’re burn to the ground. And many more. I don’t know much about countries in Africa. But I have a feeling that all of the countries in Africa have its own rich history that isn’t the white-wash “uncivilized poor African who needed to kind Europeans to survive”
He also just lied, we have grain. As a west African most of our diet is rice or millet. We have animals as well like I'm so confused as to what he's talking about
@@tealover4013 South Africa also had many rulers in the pre colonial times And like. Shaka Zulu wasnt the best Zulu ruler ever for all the mythos around him. But he is so iconic for a reason.
part of the reason Mabel is considered “bad” is because she doesn’t get as many focused episodes as dipper. Dipper is written MUCH more as an audience “point of view” and so people tend to side with his perspective despite him being just as selfish as Mabel at points. And like you said, Mabel’s occasional selfishness is balanced by her charisma and kindness. She has flaws, but strengths too. Also she’s 12. Also half of the things she makes dipper “sacrifice” he didn’t have a shot with in the first place. Like “getting with Wendy”…he got it in his head that he would “win” the love of Wendy by winning her that doll. Maybe if you’re a 12year old like dipper you think that would work, but when you grow up and look outside of the perspective of a kid, it’s silly. And that’s the point!
Also, Mable CARES SO MUCH about dipper throughout the episode. She’s BEGGING him to take a break from the laptop and get sleep. Dippers priorities are important, but he goes way overboard, isolating himself and not taking care of himself. This is a theme super important to gravity falls, that you need to lean on your community in order to thrive.
The people who think Mabel trying to get dipper outside of his pipeline to end up like ford, a man who isolated himself to the brink of insanity, is somehow her “robbing him of his destiny” are the EXACT people who need the message of gravity falls.
@@scootie_scoot It's still wild to me how such a poorly made character analysis video made by an actual child predator was the sole responsible for the horrible way people take in Mabel as a character till this day
This feels like Dante's Inferno with each video getting worse, like we're descending the circles of hell. The video that claims dipper does nothing but sacrifice misrepresents events to paint a narrative, and Just A Robot doesn't fact check this. Like the fact that dipper tried to stop Mabel from saving Mermando and almost got him killed by draining the cooler he was in. He does save the guy with mouth to mouth and a water bottle, but that leads to a comedic moment where Mermando points out he could have just pushed him into the lake. Likewise, Mabel was the one who sacrificed in time splitters, nearly giving up waddles so that dipper could go into the love tunnel with a girl who was creeped out by his infatuation due to the age gap. Mabel is not asking dipper to sacrifice anything, she is trying to reclaim something she unknowingly gave up. I like how he also brings up the laptop despite the fact that Mabel burns down her own play to save Dipper. He tries to act like the guy she was trying to date being a creep makes it not count, but she still got booed off the stage for saving her brother from Bill Cipher. Considering how he responds to people booing him, you would think he would be sympathetic to her in this example. Finally, the fact that he has the nerve to talk up Stanford Pines, the guy who wrote the journals and was responsible for what happened to McGucket as this super smart guy who does no wrong is laughable. As much as I like the guy, Stanford is responsible for letting Bill Cipher back into that reality when he was ready to give up despite the numerous warnings he was given all to answer a question he didn't know because his ego would not allow him to not know something. Dipper did not sacrifice a "golden future" to stop weirdmagedon, he simply realized that Stanford was pushing Mabel away the same way he pushed Stanlee Pines away so that he could live the life he felt entitled to though dipper. Dipper would rather live with a sister who had flaws and fears about the future than live with an adult who saw him as a proxy to live through.
So real. Crazy that people are more charitable to the guy that opened a portal to a nightmare realm (in spite of how sus Bill was) than they were to a somewhat naïve 12 yo.
I think the "Mary Sue" videos us the reasons i stopped watching and unsubscribing to many channels, because their argument only worked if you didn't consume the media. Be it JAR, Manga Kamen or Lily, their argument only works if you didn't consume the media, or in some cases the people they were "debunking" were just worstat getting their point across
I mostly ignore when that kind of channels start talking about supposed Mary Sues, because in 90 % cases about characters that aren't Mary Sue or are absolutely opposite of that. And most of the time are characters that just happened to be women (of color) that can kick ass and sometimes aren't nice to other characters and behave cocky.
Also it just personally annoys me that JAR and many other people use “well uhhh actually the term Mary Sue was created by a woman. Therefore it’s not sexist” is the ultimate gotcha. Like even putting the original intentions aside, this just generally has the asinine assertion that women are incapable of being misogynistic towards each other; like I was in some of these “anti-Mary Sue” spaces pre-Force Awakens and most of it consisted of teenage girls (or even worse grown adults) bullying each other for having cringy OCs and the more stereotypically feminine the harsher they often were. Although sometimes you’d get the opposite direction where the Sues themselves were “not like other girls” like dear ole Ebony in the interest of fairness. Also the moment she grouped Revy in with that crowd, I wanted to throw hands immediately. Like I’d hate to hear his opinion on Roberta if his opinion on Revy was this harsh (presumably anyway, worse part is he doesn’t even elaborate why other than he thinks so other than dual wielding is cringe apparently)
Even ignoring that woman can be sexist, people can STILL use Mary sue in a sexist way. I mean, look at the manji for example, it used to mean peace. Used to...
If JAR ever reads my book about a young autistic girl, he'll probably label her a Mary Sue because she's been reading since she was 2 (in human years), even though that's literally based on my own experience as a young autistic *boy.*
@agramuglia How charming. Tbh I don't blame you for getting more upset with JAR in that video- he opened it by talking and taking the piss out of a real life death, then proceeded to cite very problematic creators opinions as his own. Difficult video to watch even second hand And esp cuz what we now have, I think it's warranted
Its bad enough requesting someone to draw an openly aroace person suggestively, but the fact he requested specifically *nonconsensual* nsfw of her is just a whole new level of disgusting. Oh and the fact he asked a kid to draw it lmao, no wonder he liked synni so much.

@@barbedwire9975 Tldr Lio Convoy does Toy reviews and predator hunting online. He acts like some weird father figure to people online, and it's just cringey but also he did roast JAR pretty thoroughly so I'll give him credit Earlier this year he got into his own controversy when his discord server was recorded to be yelling and insulting a mentally disabled person, and for just being a general weirdo towards the minor in his server (not grooming them but just taking himself way too seriously) That's about all I know but I'm sure others could write an essay about him
@@barbedwire9975 - Has/had a discord server known as the Senate where he tries to do exposes and predator hunting, but it's less predator hunting and more harrassing people and putting them on blast - Chewed out and berated a disabled person on full blast in a senate group call (since he likes to have an audience), as well as letting other members of his server chew her out as well, for hours. For something she didn't even do or fully knew about. Called her slurs and accused her of not actually being disabled. Would not let her speak until one of the other members spoke up to stop it (this one is a major rabbit hole) - Is very aggressive, like shouting match levels. Also picked fights with people who give criticism in his comments, but I think those are gone now - Members of the senate can be like bloodhounds and fight whoever goes against him, and afaik he doesn't really stop them (also I think a lot of members of the inner senate circle have been found out to be bad, but I'm not fully sure). Senate also had a lot of minors, which I think is a bit questionable if a big chunk of that discord is for pedo hunting - Had this strange relationship with Hopeless peaches, which if you don't know what is going on with them, that's a whole nother essay but it wasn't a good sign - Encouraged minors to see him as a father figure, which I think lead to some weird shit This is based on my memories of a few months ago. Overall, he's one of those pedo hunters who actually do more harm to everybody than actually catching any pedos, and has very questionable behavior. He treats pedo hunting and potential cases more like a sport and chance to show how cool he is than actual serious shit. Something like mamamax but I can't say if he fell that deep. He's very fucking aggressive is what I can say, like a lot of yelling and threats, almost dramatically. At first I thought it was passion but as he went on I think it's just viciousness.

3:30:43 Huh?? Can someone tell that guy that ginger is not a race. Black ginger people exist too... ( 3:45:56 Also funny how JAR says this when earlier and even later in the video he talks about Europeans like we're all white. Europe is a continent as well so we've got all kinds of people here too.)
I mean, not even 100 years, the Greeks/Italians/Irish were not seen as white or seen as an other. European have always been Europeans first, race second.
Harem genre - A guy with a bunch of girls falling for him Reverse Harem genre - A girl with a bunch of guys falling for her Is there a harem anime out there in which not only is the main character bisexual, but has an equal amount of male and female admirers? (Also a few non-binary and trans love interests too if we want to go the pan sexual route.)
My Next Life As A Villainess started out like that, but that started to fall off in the second season as they introduced another male love interest and the female characters fell to the backburner.
The funny thing is if JAR wanted to counter that quote by the Cleopatra director about racism being a western construct from the Atlantic slave trade, all he would have to do is cite the slavery that happened in Egypt against the Israelites, because even if you don’t believe in it Biblically, it happened historically. That was the easiest low ball to hit out of the park (it even had a peak animated movie made out of it since he loves cartoons so much) but instead he took the opportunity to be 20 flavors of racist.
Also egpty was also part of the Trans-Saharan slave trade, a slave trade that included alot dark skin/black being sold into slavery from middle easterns
I'm sorry there is no historical evidence of mass SLA erycof Israelites by Egyptians What are you talking about I took 3 years of archeological anthropology and they literally dispelled the notion that the "slavery" of Israelites occured at all In fact we have found literal "receipts" in the archives Where they show the Egyptians laying workers for the pyramids And we know that the Egyptian pyramids were not built until way after the timeline of the Bible when ancient Israel still existed Where and who told you that the slavery was real There is no historical record, no anthropological society or archeological group that backs that assertion.
There was always something unsatisfying about how JAR wrapped up his videos, but your analysis helped me see he doesn’t start the video with a cohesive argument, he strings together the opinions of himself and others, never makes a proper argument, then does a wrap up ending as if something was proven. I’m glad we’re getting some comprehensive takedowns of him and his arguments now
I'm gonna say something about your comment about Siblings. Dipper and Mabel are an outright fantastically positive relationship. Most people I know say it is normal for siblings to outright hate each other as kids, so Dipper and Mabel getting along as well as they do is already her being way nicer than reality. I imagine most kids her age in real life would be positively elated at the prospect of their sibling moving away (in the short term). Also the reason Jar hates "CalArt women" so much more than men with the same flaws is because Jar is a misogynist. He spent most of his early career shitting on feminists. I used to be exactly like Jar when I was a teen and I regret it so much.
I mean... you can still criticise feminism without hating women. Like... what about the feminists who dismiss women they don't like as having "internalised misogyny" and just wanting male attention?
I completely believe Jar would think Anthy is black even though she's ethnically Indian and the show wrote gags around that fact. The reason there's so many Asian characters with blond hair is because of Japanese tropes and folklore. It's meant to imply someone's magical or alien because there's a historical context for "alien visitors" (foreigners) having blonde hair that shaped various myths and traditions. Usagi isn't blonde because she's meant to be a western girl with a Japanese name. She's blonde because it's tied to magical/alien people, like the moon princess she's reincarnated from in the moon kingdom because Usagi means rabbit and there's folklore about rabbits on the moon. This makes perfect sense in context and you can see examples of this trope in play all over the place. The only reason someone would argue otherwise is to try to 'claim' characters from other cultures as 'their race', which, let's be real, feels like a massive red flag for some Nazi-esque bullshit. If you want White characters in anime and you're looking at people with Japanese names and not the ones with more Germanic names, you're probably doing something wrong.
With the Mary Sue malarkey, I've always maintained that one should acknowledge that a character not being for you isn't the same as "bad writing." It's often just your opinion and it's up to you to articulate it the best way you can while acknowledging those who do. Especially when they're non-white, non-male, non-straight, etc. Maybe take note of fans who do like this character and (cordially) ask them why your unfavorite is the bee's knees for many others. Mary Sue was best described by Overly Sarcastic Productions here: ua-cam.com/video/H2-GIY9RTqU/v-deo.html But while it might contain a nugget of decent writing advice in terms of characters and how they "earn their wins," it overlooks how tone, theme and general vibe might influence this character being called a "Mary Sue."
Well, you're not much better than those people if you consider women to be in the same ballpark as non-white and LGBT people, especially since women are the *majority* in the Western world. I hate to break this to you, but men are a gender too, and just as we see males as the "default" gender, so do women their own gender, since it's what they've known their whole lives. It's like accents and BO - everyone has it except you.
I do not ever say this about other people, but JAR is the kind of person who quit the religion of his family but never thought long and hard about the ideas he was raised with. He may be a skeptic now but he still has the air of someone who was raised in a hyperconservative, sexist, and racist environment. I was unsurprised to hear that he was homeschooled. The way that he has carried himself into adulthood is of someone who was never challenged on his beliefs and never dealt with people who thought differently from him.
3:56:00 hey Anthony, just wanted to note that here, it's West Indian as in, "The West Indies", I.E: the Carribbean. Dr. Dreadlock is Afro-Carribbean. Don't ask me why JAR didn't choose to be clearer lol
Maybe, just maybe... the race swap could've been y'know... a casting decision? Just some food for thought, Jar Jar Binks. I still kind of find it funny that almost no people bitched about Joel having a completely different different ethnicity, height, and body type in "The Last of Us" TV show, but complained about Ely, a white girl, being played by... a white girl. You can't make this shit up.
JAR: they should make a movie about Katherine Johnson instead of black Cleopatra Is he that oblivious? How does he know about Katherine Johnson and not know that there already is a critically acclaimed movie about her? Really shows that he doesn’t actually care about depictions of black historical figures. He just wants to tear them down while ignoring good portrayals
The novelization of the force awakens also points out that when Rey fights Kylo ABA had just seen him kill Han Solo and was furious, the novel mentions she’s dipping into the dark side, aka the thing that is constantly considered a shortcut to power filed my strong emotions
I used to be an on and off fan of JAR up until like 2022. What finally made me unsubscribe from him permanently was his media takes. They were super ignorant at best and blatantly racist at worst. The Synnibear stuff was the final nail in the coffin for me. I haven't watched these videos in years and I'm honestly shocked how how he's just regurgitating opinions he heard from other UA-camrs lol.
I used to watch this guy, but fell off after he did a video calling out Noralities for having bad takes on anime. Despite having previously done a video on the evils of cancel culture.
What is cancel culture? I thought it was where people go after a person's job/advertisers/personal life because of a bad take or something they did in the past. Is cancel culture just critiquing or being an ass to someone? If it is then I get canceled every day in the UA-cam comments.
the Mable thing is really weird to point out, yeah the end of the time loop episode Dipper skips out on a nice day w Wendy for Mabel but that’s the point ? he shouldn’t prioritize this relationship with a girl he has no shot with, he instead prioritizes his sister’s happiness also don’t forget Mabel helped the plan to begin with and her being away to help his goal made her loose Waddles like are we talking abt the same girl ??
I don't like defending Rowling, but she never actually said that Hermione was always black. She made a tweet that was basically supposed to mean that Hermione's race wasn't important (which is highly debatable considering the slavery and racism in the books) in defense of the casting of a black woman in the Cursed Child play. From what I can tell J.K. never said Hermione was always black just that she could be. I think people just believed she did because it confirmed some kind of pattern in behavior. And now no one's interested in defending her because she's awful.
It was even earlier than that. It was a popular headcanon on sites like Tumblr with a lot of people drawing fanart of black Hermione (and sometimes Indian Harry). Rowling's original comment was basically repeating the argument these fans used for why it didn't conflict with the books and the casting was likely to appeal to fans who made said fanart.
I think the bad takes is proportional to how much children's media these critics consume. If they only consume children's media awful opinions and the more media aimed at adults the better they get
I know I’m 40+ minutes into the video but I just want to say that I do think it’s completely unfair to call Naruto a Mary Sue when the whole point of his character arc is trying to get people to like him because he has been socially isolated. It’s also annoying to just gloss passed the whole fact that Naruto *isnt* good a ninjutsus or a lot of other things. He kinda seems to have a learning disability and no one really seems to know how to teach him in a different way for him to ‘get it.’ Like him learning the the Shadow Clone thing was an extremely big deal *because* Naruto had such a hard time with different techniques.
If I remember correctly, wasn't it stated at some point that the reason he struggled with jutsus was because Kurama would mess with his Chakra in some way?
@@sparksshepherd3313Naruto uses too much chakra than necessary for a technique which is why they usually don't work for him. Shadow Clones require a large amount of chakra which is why it's more easy for him.
I guess i would have a stronger stance on this since I didnt get very far into naruto at all But one of the more boring things for me was how useless Naruto was 80% of the time LMAO, in the early parts he is legit the dumbest kid ever and is always helped out in some way
I've only had one discord call with JAR like 5-6 years ago not long after after he did a video response on someone who is mostly known as Gohan, and no I don't mean the Dragon Ball character. Granted I don't think that call had any red flags back then even though admittingly I can be very impulsive myself (espeically when I freak out). Also I feel like I should point this out while I want to make it clear he wasn't a perpetrator in it and as far as I know said next to nothing in it, he was in the FCK or Fruit Cake Klub server. That server even though most of the stuff there came in like 2019-2020 didn't get exposed until just this year and it was an extremely porn brained server that had minors in there and many of them knew they were there and still acted like perverted degenerates (and there was alleged grooming in there), while others knew that was going on and said/did absolutely nothing. How much he knew about with what was going on in the FCK server until it got exposed who really knows. Either way to say I am disappointed with JAR over the recent stuff regarding him would be a *MASSIVE UNDERSTATEMENT* As for his media takes *WOW* these takes are horrible, It's amazing how poorly some of the things he's said has aged in the wake of the synnibear situation. Also I believe it was JAR (I could be wrong on this), I don't know if it was a UA-cam video or a tweet or something tried to do a topic thing if the Simpsons went downhill since Disney bought out Fox or something to that effect, and that. . .I'd be more inclined to pin that on Disney had there not been a *LONG* discussion of The Simpsons going downhill for the last 20+ years. 58:06-58:09 credit where it's due with the English dub of Sword Art Online because they pretty much make fun of that via bloopers. Also to be fair reception wise SAO is *AT BEST* polarizing if we're being generous. From what I gathered the Konosuba anime came out before the Re:Zero anime. . .By about 2-3 months!
...Jar even back then, always had like a clear lack of self-awareness which always went back to bite him later. He is cleary trying to understand how things work, and the moment you discover he is homescholled a lot about his behavior makes sense. ...The whole defending the groomer is problably the worst case, because he is using the same argument style, aka like every time someone says something stupid which reaches outside their audience, it hard to be on his side with context or out context. With my experience, trying to know more about the situation before prononcing would be the right call, try to solve privately before going without thinking. Even if he believe there no grooming, well, there now countless videos on new commentary channels trying to cash up on newest biggest drama, about him being a simp. So guess the hubris has finally caught to the guy.
Fun fact after this livestream ended i got recommended a video from the thin blue line where goody punches a racist. Anyways i hope you get well Anthony you need a break. Take all the time you need man. Drink water and eat that Italian food. And sleep.
The thing where Mabel made Dipper sacrifice his happiness with Wendy for Waddles... She won Waddles fair and square and then Dipper STOLE A TIME MACHINE to manipulate time to have a nice day with Wendy putting himself and Mabel in danger because he was breaking time travel laws. Mabel absolutely deserved to have Waddles over Dipper fucking with time to make himself perfect for a girl
54:44 JAR seems to be mixing up his buzz words. He keeps saying Mary Sue whilst describing stuff that Critical Drinker would describe as "tHe MeSsAgE", which have nothing to do with Mary Sues (it’s "woke" SJW stuff). And throughout it all he has not defined what a Mary Sue is at all…..
There’s actually a whole video that came out months ago basically debunking all of the standard criticisms about Mabel while still giving his own criticisms. That video is great His takes on Amethyst were also painful and was kinda victim blaming. His takes on Bubble Gum, while they are kinda sound, neglects that Bubble Gum does change. But it takes her loosing her kingdom for her to do so. She’s still a fascinating character
3:18:40 Jeez, I thought the “I’m not racist, but…” crowd loved to bring up how historically, there were slaves of every race and ethnicity. How does JAR miss that bar too? The series was talking about diversity in Ancient Rome (and by extension Britain at the time) and I guarentee someone in the boardroom said “Yeaaaah, it’s probably a bad idea to depict African peoples in chains, in this webtoon aimed at children, due to other things that have happened more recently in terms of history.” Great stream though! Thank you for your coherent and drunken rantings!
Just for the sake of reference, in JAR's video about the Flash movie he makes the mistake to use the DCAU as an example of how to use the Flash correctly. That might sound odd considering that the DCAU is one of the most popular DC universes, but it falls flat when you realise the Flash in that show is Wally while the Flash in the Film is Barry. This guy didn’t even fact check the two personalities as he claims his defence as Flash in the AU to be based around Barry's personality, which is downright wrong as he’s very in line with the *Wally West* interpretation of the character from the comics, because that makes sense. If you guys don’t get what I’m getting at for this comparison, imagine if JAR used Jon Stewart from that same show to talk about how to handle Green Lantern's personality right compared to the movie, where it’s Hal Jordan.
I wouldn't call him a Gary Stu, but Itachi from Naruto has some really funky plot armor. Itachi only ever lost to Itachi, and I think that's kind of insane how that works.
sometimes i'm worried that i have poor media literacy and lack critical thinking skills, then i see JAR then i immediately realize "nah i'm not perfect but i have something"
JAR: whines about Amethyst being abusive. also JAR: starts the video with a lynching investigation and claims that it takes a strong person to be in an abusive relationship.
Okay i have problems with Black lagoon, its flawed but amazing, but jesus he missed so much in that show. Like Revy was a career criminal, she's been using guns since she wa a child, even tells Rock as much. And Chang also duel wields. Like that show has a lot of depth to it that gets missed by even its own fans Hollyshit
3:14:12 WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHO GIVES A SHIT?! The Egyptians care and their opinion is the only one that matters. Also, I have been studying art history, the Greeks are the ones that INVENTED our modern-day beauty standards. Of course they were much more concerned with the male physice than the female one, but there were still female beauty standards that are fairly similar to our own. Also, if you look at statues of epyptian pharoahs and queens, they always depict themselves as perfect and their idea of perfection is very similar to our modern beauty standards. There was only one time during epytian history in which the egyptian pharoah depicted himself as he was, and it was not during Cleopatra's time. Regardless, whether Cleopatra was a little heavier set or not is not nearly as important as getting the ethnicity correct. Just because there hasn't been a historically accurate documentary about her yet, doesn't mean its okay to continue that. We're living in the modern day. We're supposed to be better than this. Edit: Scarlett Johanson?!???? THAT'S who Jar thinks should play Cleopatra?!???????? Why is he so weird?!
does jar know that the aboriginal peoples of australia are also considered black but not africian 😭⁉️ something tells me that he doesn't know about them at all. i would love to live in his head for a day his stupidity is FASCINATING to me
Didn't he defend a groomer or made some gross and questionable art? Why go after his media takes when that becomes irrelevant in light of the allegations against him?
Well let just say that jerks like him always shown to have the most nonsensical takes on media like any other anti sjw on UA-cam Or any other social media
@@HawkatanaDid JAR delete his channel too? I thought it was Kumo, the other weird drama UA-camr who tried to rizz up the groomer who deleted his channel?
re:dual wield for non-ambidextrous folks, you really should have a smaller parry weapon-in particular, a dagger with some type of hooks or other snag-point, to waste opponent time in untangling their dominant weapon. however the drawback is: the opponent always knows which side to defend from and which side to try to dodge. for left-handed folks, not revealing the left-handed trait when dual wielding is actually a huge perk. people train against right-handers, and rerouting to deal with left-handedness already takes a moment of adjusting. adding to that adjustment by visual obscurity is huge. for us ambies, well, take the left handed perk of mental adjustment but stack on the fact that both hands can work independently and as strongly as the other, with no distinct primary. in this case, having a parrying dagger becomes more detrimental than using a primary blade to do the same thing. i used to spar, dual wielding. most of my partners pointed out the difficulties of their interactions with me in the moment: there is no clear dominant hand or side of movement pattern (in two-handed it is, in fact, my left hand; i write and draw on the right) and a lack of predictive tells (i use peripheral vision so pointedly look sort of past a sparring partner; i think it is part of autistic eye contact avoidance, actually!). i has an ok track record, pretty good actually. but, it wasn't that i had more technical skill or training than my partners, because i didn't. i just happened to move in a way that came off as chaotic, because instead of (an arguably more neurotypical) way of predictive-back-and-forth dancing like usual, i kinda just let it be a chaotic rumble that relied on attention to detail (movement->react instead of predict->prepare) and that my hands can work completely independently. don't need to prepare to parry when it don't matter which hand needs to get it done; don't like staring at people, so just literally adjust as they make so much as a twitch to feint. anyway. just saying that because it is interesting to me. maybe (giving SAO too much credit for sure) the real dual wielding is hand independence uwu (i kid; SAO's game world just has a really stupid hidden level up perk that is standard in most action games).
also, figure people might be curious: guitar/bass is left hand dominant. baseball bats are left hand. right handed for either of these is wrong lmao. can use utensils including chopsticks in both hands. most tools are whichever hand is more convenient (hammers, screwdrivers, etc). i actually can write in my left hand but not with a cursive script due to lack of training. anything that needs super fine dexterity is right hand (tho both hands fail here all the time tbh). drawing is right exclusive.
I used to watch Jar, but stopped watching him and unsubscribe after he made the switch to media analysis stuff ( I also got older lol ). His videos were probably all pretty bad before making the switch, especially since he made it clear that he doesn’t usually write a script for videos. This is a bit petty and just something that personally bugged me-- not on the same level as some of the worse things JAR's done. But in his video on Lily Orchard he made this big deal about respecting her pronouns and I was just like "well gee, don't do us any favors". It sort of tainted any actual legitimate arguments in that video (which there were! being completely fair!) because it was pretty clear that he wasn't gendering her correctly out of any desire to be decent. We all know that he wouldn't have made this big to-do about using the appropriate pronouns for a cis person.
27:06 Ay, I hope more people come to find out that lots of people have put their trust in people that turned out to be awful people or at least someone they end up finding out that they don't agree with. That's not their fault, in the end, and everyone falls victim to that multiple times. You shouldn't feel ashamed about it because you didn't know better. It just shows that they were great at tricking you and others, not through any fault of your own. What matters is that you found out and now you're distancing yourself.
Minor nitpick about Naruto, maybe later on in the video you get told this or address this. But like Naruto's 'special power ups' don't really work like discourse wants you think they do. It gets him one clean win where he gains the power through rage, after that. He loses the next fight he used it in, he actually then trained to use to for the next two fights it appeared in. Then it doesn't show up or be used in the next arc at all, for reasons that made contextual sense. And he then loses the next fight even when the amount of power he got from the power up increased as well. Then we have the timeskip where whenever it's used he goes berserk and he can't control it. The power up isn't just unreliable, it's now a hazard for everyone, including himself, around him. And this stays the status quo till whereabouts the final arc or two arcs of his title series. Where he gains control of the power and other plot stuff. Its frankly not important overall. Just there's a narrative about Naruto online that simply isn't true when you examine the use of that particular power up. And everytime I see it trotted about, especially since Plague of Gripes rather bad video on the topic, I cringe. (Apparently, he claims it was a parody, but I don't see it as any different from the great videos such as his one on Tidus from FFX).
As a skandinavian(DK/SE) and Asa, JAR, Shut up about my religion, you got no right saying how Thor should look. (I konw he only metioned it shortly, but im tired of americans talking about norse gods as if they has any right's in deterening how they should be.) Anyway, I think your awsome Ant. :) edidt: typos
Iirc I remember seeing a responding to “toxic” comments video with him and at one point I remember him saying “of course an Amethyst pfp would say this”
On the Naruto tangent I finished rewatching Bleach not too long ago and I feel when I rewatch Naruto it'll playout similarly. People called Ichigo a Gary Stu because he had the power of every species of powered up being in the universe. However Ichigo trains and what the story does with him is that every time he comes to understand himself more as a person his power grows. Like how every time Yusuke actually makes strides with his power its because he breaks down emotional barriers to become a more complete person. Naruto I can't say plays out as well as those two but he only achieves his full potential when he makes piece with a part of himself he feared. In the power level discussion they always forget the emotional and thematic beats of the story playing out. Hell their progenitor Goku is kind of the only one that gets stronger through full blown training with no character arc involved in that strength. At least not as intimately tied to it anyway.
JAR barrows most of his opinions. Not joking. His Think Before You Sleep drama video was literally just a worst worded version of Think Before You Sleeps video, where he says the same arguments, same talking points.
10:33 Oh the irony! At least the time was from you actually adding comments and not just staring blankly at the screen like a typical 'reactor' I came much earlier than I thought. I got to see you take Psychic Damage from Jar's 'insight'.
It feels like a big contributing factor to characters like Rey getting labeled as Mary Sues is the fact that the stories they exist in feel the need to cram a million plot points into their runtime without ever giving their characters opportunities to mess up or struggle and grow from those mistakes. Even when they are gesturing in that direction, they always do so in a very non-commital or weak way because when you are told to keep an audience excited for the entirety of a film, you can't really invest in the moments where the audience is supposed to feel discouraged or weak.
i only ever watched jar for his drama videos, and even then they were shitty to say the least (ie just being recaps of art drama with little to no new input on it). gave up trying to watch his media reviews after his little mermaid video where he spent the entire time confusing two actresses for each other.
Seeing what I've been watching all this time has been incredibly frustrating. Seeing so much stuff go over my head made me put some holes in my wall, I got that angry at JAR and myself. He should be scrapped and rot

What the hell... That statement might be true when applied to 19th century race science. Where, sure, in that context, that is somewhat true. But nowadays it's not quite like that??
Ironic, an antifeminist doing the exact thing male feminists are stereotyped as doing.
It felt outdated in 08 on deviantart)

Not gonna lie Mangakamen was cringe but still kinda enjoyable. He used to be someone who really just wants to share his opinions about things he likes.

Also Kamen's Sweet Baby Video is uninformed trash and his "the right (and wrong) way to make x" videos are just patronizing and poor attempts at writing advice.

@@iamweebtrash7848I kinda wish he talks more about Kamen Rider, which Seasons he likes and favorite Powerups.
Of course that he thinks Korra is Mary Sue... but that argument is just nonsensical?

Might he using the wrong word) was a Mary Sue for being allowed to wear the make uniform and…that’s pretty much it. After watching Cartoonshi's video defending Mabel. I've noticed that her biggest critics on youtube tend to be massive assholes themselves. Really makes ya think, huh
Yeah the hate for her was so ridiculous
I legit did a double take during the live stream when JAR started glazing up the now-deleted CC West video as his reason to hate Mabel.
As Cartoonshi pointed out, are we're really gonna let a POS like CC control the narrative when it comes to public perception of a character like Mabel?
It all sounds like projection to me.

JAR: Rey is a Mary Sue because she knows how to use the force without formal training
Also JAR: Korra is not a Mary Sue despite being able to instinctively bend Fire, Earth, and Water without any training and start the series at nearly master level
Like I don't think either are, but the lack of consistency is wild.
Wait I just noticed this, why did Jar include Princess Bubblegum in as a CAL arts girl? No one in Adventure time is in that style, especially when it came to PB.
I think its because the show was still made by people who attended CAL ARTS.
@ I don’t believe so, I just watched his response to his cal arts girl video talking about the style and he never mentioned about the school or the person who coined the term.
"bean mouth"

@@SiRenfield "PETEEEERRRRAAAAAAAA"
@zcgamerandreacts2762 honestly both are the same
part of the reason Mabel is considered “bad” is because she doesn’t get as many focused episodes as dipper.
Also: the laptop WAS important. That’s why bill destroys it. The characters are able to WORK AROUND the loss of the laptop.
@@scootie_scoot It's still wild to me how such a poorly made character analysis video made by an actual child predator was the sole responsible for the horrible way people take in Mabel as a character till this day
@@izachi-chan2432wasn't jello apocalypse the one that started that "trend"

For something she didn't even do or fully knew about. Called her slurs and accused her of not actually being disabled. - Encouraged minors to see him as a father figure, which I think lead to some weird shit
This is based on my memories of a few months ago.

Mary Sue was best described by Overly Sarcastic Productions here: ua-cam.com/video/H2-GIY9RTqU/v-deo.html
But while it might contain a nugget of decent writing advice in terms of characters and how they "earn their wins," it overlooks how tone, theme and general vibe might influence this character being called a "Mary Sue."
@@Hawkatana Even if I disagree with some of her points, Nora is leagues better at forming arguments than JAR ever was!
I unsubscribed from him for the barbie movie. I dont even reme, ber why that was my last straw...
the Mable thing is really weird to point
out, yeah the end of the time loop episode Dipper skips out on a nice day w Wendy for Mabel but that’s the point ? he shouldn’t prioritize this relationship with a girl he has no shot with, he instead prioritizes his sister’s happiness
also don’t forget Mabel helped the plan to begin with and her being away to help his goal made her loose Waddles
like are we talking abt the same girl ??
If they only consume children's media awful opinions and the more media aimed at adults the better they get
Just a racist. You gotta cover more this dude is a decade of cringe goldmine content
Hell, he had to come up with an entirely different way to generate a Rasengan compared to how Jiraya was teaching him to do it.
@@jtlego1exactly!
I guess i would have a stronger stance on this since I didnt get very far into naruto at all
But one of the more boring things for me was how useless Naruto was 80% of the time LMAO, in the early parts he is legit the dumbest kid ever and is always helped out in some way
I've only had one discord call with JAR like 5-6 years ago not long after after he did a video response on someone who is mostly known as Gohan, and no I don't mean the Dragon Ball character. Either way to say I am disappointed with JAR over the recent stuff regarding him would be a *MASSIVE UNDERSTATEMENT*
As for his media takes *WOW* these takes are horrible, It's amazing how poorly some of the things he's said has aged in the wake of the synnibear situation.
As for the merman thing, she helped return a lost merman to his home that's absolutely more important than Dippers dumb job
Rushing to the comments section to see if anybody already mentioned DJ Kirkland as the artist who drew the really good sailor moon stuff
That video is great
His takes on Amethyst were also painful and was kinda victim blaming.
The series was talking about diversity in Ancient Rome (and by extension Britain at the time) and I guarentee someone in the boardroom said “Yeaaaah, it’s probably a bad idea to depict African peoples in chains, in this webtoon aimed at children, due to other things that have happened more recently in terms of history.”
Great stream though! Thank you for your coherent and drunken rantings!
This stream was tought but I'm glad we manged to power through it! Remember to take a break if you feel mentally tired.
19:06 So... does that mean I'm a Mary Sue, because I can pick up just about any instrument and play it?
Omg I have to know who made that beautiful Ghibli background from the beginning of the video.
He already deleted his channel over that, so it's really a case of preserving the evidence.
@@HawkatanaDid JAR delete his channel too? I thought it was Kumo, the other weird drama UA-camr who tried to rizz up the groomer who deleted his channel?

re:dual wield
for non-ambidextrous folks, you really should have a smaller parry weapon-in particular, a dagger with some type of hooks or other snag-point, to waste opponent time in untangling their dominant weapon.
however the drawback is: the opponent always knows which side to defend from and which side to try to dodge.
for left-handed folks, not revealing the left-handed trait when dual wielding is actually a huge perk. people train against right-handers, and rerouting to deal with left-handedness already takes a moment of adjusting. adding to that adjustment by visual obscurity is huge.
for us ambies, well, take the left handed perk of mental adjustment but stack on the fact that both hands can work independently and as strongly as the other, with no distinct primary. in this case, having a parrying dagger becomes more detrimental than using a primary blade to do the same thing.
i used to spar, dual wielding. most of my partners pointed out the difficulties of their interactions with me in the moment: there is no clear dominant hand or side of movement pattern (in two-handed it is, in fact, my left hand; i write and draw on the right) and a lack of predictive tells (i use peripheral vision so pointedly look sort of past a sparring partner; i think it is part of autistic eye contact avoidance, actually!).
i has an ok track record, pretty good actually. but, it wasn't that i had more technical skill or training than my partners, because i didn't. i just happened to move in a way that came off as chaotic, because instead of (an arguably more neurotypical) way of predictive-back-and-forth dancing like usual, i kinda just let it be a chaotic rumble that relied on attention to detail (movement->react instead of predict->prepare) and that my hands can work completely independently. don't need to prepare to parry when it don't matter which hand needs to get it done; don't like staring at people, so just literally adjust as they make so much as a twitch to feint.
anyway. just saying that because it is interesting to me. maybe (giving SAO too much credit for sure) the real dual wielding is hand independence uwu
(i kid; SAO's game world just has a really stupid hidden level up perk that is standard in most action games).
also, figure people might be curious:
guitar/bass is left hand dominant. baseball bats are left hand. right handed for either of these is wrong lmao.
can use utensils including chopsticks in both hands. most tools are whichever hand is more convenient (hammers, screwdrivers, etc).
i actually can write in my left hand but not with a cursive script due to lack of training.
anything that needs super fine dexterity is right hand (tho both hands fail here all the time tbh). drawing is right exclusive.
JAR is the same guy who simps for a groomer after all…
I used to watch Jar, but stopped watching him and unsubscribe after he made the switch to media analysis stuff ( I also got older lol ). His videos were probably all pretty bad before making the switch, especially since he made it clear that he doesn’t usually write a script for videos. I’m not ashamed that I use to watch his stuff, but I’m also not surprised that he, just like everyone else from the Toby drama back in late 2020, has finally fallen

3:25:08 "she was definetely at least part white"
I cant even top that. Tbis is like the picture of the white sphinx guy how do you even get to this point
I remember that, it really weirded me out
I'm confused did he misgender her or something?
Also is it really a surprise? Jar is anti-sjw he does not care about lgbt.
49:07 So I guess by that logic, the vast majority of female protagonists in anything that has them must be Mary Sues.
As a skandinavian(DK/SE) and Asa, JAR, Shut up about my religion, you got no right saying how Thor should look.
(I konw he only metioned it shortly, but im tired of americans talking about norse gods as if they has any right's in deterening how they should be.)
Anyway, I think your awsome Ant. :)
edidt: typos
Anthony is going through the WRINGER with this one
The hatedoms... A bit cringe from those grifters
JAR barrows most of his opinions. Not joking. His Think Before You Sleep drama video was literally just a worst worded version of Think Before You Sleeps video, where he says the same arguments, same talking points.

2:35 yeah it's beautiful. seeing Thumin's art always brought me joy
Showing off thumin's art is the most amazing part of this stream
There is no Eragon film and there never has been.
As a big otome fan, it's funny thinking someone believes girls aren't interested in reverse harem stories.
