- The Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture is opening a new exhibit this week called "Watching Oprah." It's a celebration of Oprah Winfrey's legacy. Gayle King previewed the exhibit with Oprah on Wednesday where the media mogul saw it for the first time.

her show the impact of her work is beyond words ...
I really started tearing up... Shes such an inspiration to little girls and young women like myself ❤❤❤
I used to come home from school every day, and see my mom watching Oprah at 4pm. When I became an adult and house sitter, I'd put on her show and it was like revisiting my childhood. Such a strangely familiar experience in strangers' homes. She is one of my heroes.

She was so different from other talk show hosts.
The story about the Pakistani Driver got me....damn onions. Thank you, Miss Winfrey, for enriching our culture and empowering my Nieces and every other woman in my life.

This is so exciting! Dearest Oprah, what a rare and beautiful gem you are. Watching this made me think of the moon landing and those famous words, One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. I hope to see all that, someday soon. Ms Gayle is special too.

I cannot wait to see O's exhibit!!! It was closed when I visited in May but going back bc this Afr American museum is a **MUST** see for every single Afr Amer. in this country and the world and of course for all. Awesome to see ALL the history we were not given, but have access to now!! O is very much apart of that legacy of our people, US, the world and for history to come!!!
Never truly been a big fan; but VERY proud of her amazing impact on and gift to American culture, and on Black women. And the show really was wonderful. We miss it!!
Oprah's "Favorite Things" during the Christmas season were some of her most exciting episodes I loved being "glued" to the TV for! - couldn't wait to see the special chosen "Favorite Things" and the excitement on those lucky audience members faces!

The Lord is amazing. Oprah was my mentor long before that term became part of our daily vernacular. She is a woman I have always respected. Strong, compassionate, articulate, successful and a self made mogul. In my little way I pay it forward to those that are helping others with their words, deeds and positivity. My footprint I will leave on this planet will be broad because of Oprah. And how I feel about her is shared by millions of people across the world.

I think Gayle is extraordinary, and Oprah - well, it should go without saying!! To see these two women together, the cathartic quality of reviewing, and reliving, lives in parallel, and Gayle’s very touching “watershed moment” (tears!) at the end of this clip - it’s just so rare any of these professionals at a loss for words, but there we ate!! I so wish I had the means to visit DC these coming months and look at all this for myself. Thank you, CBS, the Smithsonian, and all the staff. Oprah’s story is America’s story: America at its most triumphant, overcoming its apprehensions and shames and sordid chapters, bringing all of our better selves into the loving light.
More than words, any words, can say. And never the last word-I know Oprah still has great things to share freely and widely, all around the world, in times still to come.

Everyone deserves to have and to be a friend like Gayle! I feel like all of us who watched Oprah every day feel like she is part of us. She was a trusted friend who we got a visit from every day. I remember getting the Oprah dvd 20th anniversary collection and watching. One minute I was laughing and the next I was crying. So many great moments! I think she is amazing and I wish her many more years of making us laugh and cry ❤️

When I visited the exhibit, I didn't get a chance to sit in the theater area where the shows were running because it was super crowded and all the seats were taken.😭 I honestly planned to go back just to sit in the chair.😂

Everyone should visit, her show changed so many lives. It let Mother's be validated that Motherhood was hard, women that were being abused know that it wasn't OK, and people to know that ANYTHING is possible in this world if you only believe and have Faith and belief in something higher than yourself.
