What's happening and the Jefferson's are still 2 of my favorite shows all time!!! Dee was one of the best characters of all the shows of that era!!! 👍👍👍

Several of the stars from What's Happening literally went through hell and passed away at a young age. Dee's a real fighter!!! I would love to meet her someday. Mabel lost both of her legs and an arm because of diabetes and died young. Shirley died at 52 at home from kidney failure and Freddy died at 52, as well. He was home recovering from a stroke but his death was listed as natural causes. They were a huge part of my childhood and it's a damn shame their lives ended so young!

Also, she's been through breast cancer and a brain hematoma. Any of these issues and their treatments likely has caused her voice to not be as heavy as it once was. Too, just aging may be the case. But glad she's recovered.

It's crazy to think she was in a car accident during the time she was on what's happening and the car accident killed her stepfather and she was severely injured still made it out congratulations

When she had surgery on her back years later after experiencing having difficulty walking, she was paralized from her breast down after the surgery. So, she uses the walking sticks, but she is still quite active and is an amazing person.
Why couldn't you simply say that she looks nice, instead of looking for a strange way to call her old? It is okay to give a black woman a real compliment.
