Un très grand merci ! Votre vidéo très claire et précise, m'a permis (enfin) de réussir à configurer mes changements simultanés de Bank et de Program sur mon Nord Lead A1 ! 🙏
I just figured out how to change voices (sounds) on a Yamaha DJX IIB using this ipad app. I have the ipad connected to a USB hub and that hub is attached to a MIDI interface. The MIDI interface MIDI OUT goes to the DJX MIDI IN. I lookup up the voice chart and it gave a sequence of MSB, LSB, PC to perform a bank select of a certain voice. So if I wanted to bank select the voice called "KIller-S" BASS LEAD, it shows MSG, LSB, PC as 0, 112, 87 in the chart on page 76 of the user manual. So to make that button change to this voice, I would edit a button on the MIDI Pad and name it "BASS: DJX Killer-S" add 3 steps: a CC, a CC and a PC. For CC step#1 I would then send the MSB selection of 0 as CC 1,1,1 (0 in chart=1 in this app), then for CC step#2 I would configure it as 1,33,113 (since 32=33 in app, and 112=113 in app ... and 32 was the way the DJX IIB accepts the LSB CC), and finally for the PC step#3 I would configure it as 1,88 (since 87=88 in the app). Then click 'Done' and try the button out while connected to the DJX IIB ... and press any undefined button in MIDI PAD ... and it will play a note on the DJX IIB in the Killer-S bass voice. CC 0, 32 were listed on page 87 of the user guide under MIDI IMPLEMENTATION. So this is why the first CC#1 I sent 1 (0=1 in the app) for the MSB ... and for CC#2 I sent 33 (32=33 in the app) for the LSB. Hopefully this helps someone trying to figure out the cryptic bank select using MSB, LSB, PC combinations, like this Yamaha used. Followup: you can skip the CC 1,1,1 steps, it still works to provide the LSB only ... and only if the LSB is someting other than zero. FOr the voices that are listed as MSB, LSB of 0,0 ... you can just do the PC (program change) step only.
Thanks, great app - a couple of things: 1) Yup that 1-128 value shift from 0-127 caught me out and lost me 15 mins trying to debug it🤦♂ 2) I can get it to trigger every external device OK, but Stage Traxx running on the same iPad doesn't seem to receive the MIDI messages. I am the bass player and am the fallback when the singer doesn't trigger the next track. I also run the lights and my HX Stomp and I was looking for a single control unit without getting another pedalboard
Great videos! You’re extremely helpful! Are you still using the same ripcord to power your hx stomp with a power bank? How durable have you found them to be?
I don’t know much for android apps. Most music apps are built on iOS, that’s just the way it is to be honest. Getting a tablet as a musician…. iPad is the way to go 👍
@@ScottUhlMusic Yes, Apple has been really good at helping musicians with Programs and Apps. I recently saw a fascinating YT video called "Can ChatGPT Build A Guitar Pedal Plugin?" at ua-cam.com/video/Ra7WUfaQNrM/v-deo.html Though it took a number of iterations, the results indicate that AI, like ChatGPT, are becoming powerful tools with a wide range of uses. We are nearing the point that we can ask it to create a MIDI Interface for the Platform of out choice, etc.
Man, this app would have been complete if it could receive midi signals from another device (like a foot switch) to trigger any of the pads within the app. It'd would have been so powerful. Scott, do you know an app like that? OnSong can do it I think but MP2 interface is way better.
WT.....!!!! Do you think is it possible to use Ipad as a... drum samplepad? I mean, do you think you can control logic pro drum sample sound in Macmini by this method? by Ipad?
This app is great but its very old, the last update is 5 years ago. Cant copy paste, no backup, not sync between devices... Do you know a recent Midi Pad app like this one? Thank you anyway for the video! 😊
Yeah, it’s definitely just ok for those reasons I’ve felt… but it does what it does and it’s pretty simple. I haven’t found a good replacement to this one yet though. Hopefully someday someone makes something this easy but with a couple more features 👍
I don’t believe it has MSB and LSB on this app, since it’s very basic. But look into this one for more advanced programming: ua-cam.com/video/0kFzVUApVg0/v-deo.html
see my comment above ... I figured this out on a Yamaha DJX IIB . It probably depends on how your device implements program changes, but the DJX did a coupld control changes followed by a program change to switch voices. So control change (CC) 1,0,MSB-value, then CC 1,32,LSB-value, then program change (PC) of 1,PC-value ... to switch voice using MIDI.
Hey again thanks for your work but it seems this mini pad app on my ipad air 3 is not working. I have olso the widi jack! ( works nly with "on song" app. There is a window to configure? Many thanks!
They haven’t updated the app in a while, and “not working” can mean so many things with midi. I would problem solve to see if it’s the app or something else, because it does work well for me still
Hi, I have managed to use MidiPad on iPhone to scroll through presets on a Line 6 M5 pedal. But I can’t figure out how to use it to control the on/off button of the M5….any advice? I set a toggle pad with CC#11, no luck. Thanks in Advance.
Interesting…. It’s receiving PC commands but not CC commands. Check some of your global settings on the M5 to make sure it able to accept CC commands and on the correct channel 👍
Hi Ilove all your videos and now have the stage trax app, which I love.I did find the export settings on that app. I also really like the Midipad2 app for its simplicity. Do you know if Is there a way to back up all of the settings?
I like this app, but couldn't figure out how to export the data from one ipad to another yet. It is priced right, but sharing data between devices wasn't apparent to me I set up a panel to control an old Roland U-110 and change presets from my ipad.
