- This is a comparison of the @LogitechG G915 TKL and the @redragonkeyboard Horus TKL (K621). In this video I'm talking about the difference between the two keyboards - the most obviously being the price as the Redragon keyboard is ridiculously cheap for the features that it offers, while the G915 TKL is a premium keyboard that is my main keyboard on a regular basis for a number of different reasons.

The Redragon Horus TKL is surprisingly good for a number of reasons:
It's really affordable
It's comfortable to type on and has loads of features including easy on board controls, software for key remapping, etc
It sounds great to type on and is a pleasure to use
Lowlights though:
2.4GHz connection seems flakey and signal loss is a problem (BUT I have a lot of wireless devices in my room)

Was torn between the two.
Hearing about the wireless connectivity issues was more than enough for me to make up my mind.
Thanks!
Thx for the video!!🔥
Hey, very nice review! Got a question. I have two computers on my setup, do you think If I plugged in the 2.4 wireless USB on the first device and the USB cable to the second device I could use the keyboard for both computers just by switching with FN 4 and 5?
What about the software experience? Do they have the same RGB/macro customisability? On-board memory vs. needing to run bloatware like Razer does with Synapse, etc?
You should take a look at some of cooler masters low profile keyboards! The SK620 was my first mechanical keyboard and holds a special place in my heart
Thanks for the tip
That LED flicker is kind of an interesting note for anyone who streams. It's like getting an accent light that flickers on video whereas Logitech seems to have made the effort to design their RGB circuit properly to not flicker on camera. Note a huge deal, especially if you don't stream, but still interesting.
Interesting thought, though I don't know how likely it is that you'd see that on camera (depending on the angle and use case of course).
Lights and cameras has different standars in different parts of the world, for example in Europe we have PAL and US have NTSC, so when using lights produced in different standard it will flicker. To avoid that you have to set your camera properly to match the light.
the 2.4 ghz works almost perfectly with a dongle on the table just in front of the keyboard (btw this is a good practice for every wireless peripherals)
Are you referring to the Redragon one?
LEDs from the keyboards are powered by an Alternate Current (AC-power) which means it goes on and off, but so quickly the human eye cannot perceive it. However, depending on the settings, your camera could ! You need to adjust the shutterspeed; which is the amount of time that each individual frame will be exposed for (for exemple 1/30 of a second, 1/125s etc...)
If you are filming at high shutterspeed rate and the LEDs are flashing at a lower rate, then your camera will record frames in which the LEDs were off, resulting in this flickers. Sometimes you need to go very low and adjust other settings to get it right
Yeah I played around with the settings alot but without success 😭
They definitely are not operating on AC power. It's DC power, but the LED lights up a certain number of times per second. This is measured in hz. The camera captures a single moment, and the LED may or may not be on at that moment, capturing flickering. Our eyes have continuous capture, so we don't notice.
@@ProgThoughts thanks for clearing this up :)
Could you replace the switches on the reddragon one with Outemu switches online?
6:37 once you activate a macro key (F1 -F4) it can be turned off only by resetting the whole keyboard. If not, at least 1 macro will always stay lit with max white color. The same goes if you have all 4 activated. Their light do not dim or change, they just stay full blast on white
The same goes for the G1-g4 keys, but they are completely green.
So if you want to use the macros, they will be constantly white / green
Also i bricked the firmware by trying to update it via the redragon support page.
Other than that, i guess it workz
Hot swappable cherry instead of property switches is way better, makes me prefer the redragon
I've got a Horus myself and while I like it there's a few issues I have with it: Sometimes a button will get stuck so you get stuff like thissssssssssssssssssssssss. The RF also seems a bit weak, I basically need to have the dongle within a few feet of the keyboard to keep a reliable connection going. I like the feel of the keyboard though, with the exception of the weird rubber media keys.
Yeah wireless isn't great sadly.
is it good for typing ?
That's just too much issues
I have not faced this issue personally
Anyone think the reddragon sounds better lol?
def getting these red dragons with that usb c rather than nasty micro usb, the swappable switches is good for longevity too
Honestly why does the USB connection matter on a keyboard?
I've had the Horus for a few months now. Decent keyboard overall but good luck actually finding keys to swap in. All the low profile keys I've found don't have the same pin orientation as redragons PCB.
Another think is, some sections of the keyboard are more hollow than the rest, making the keyboard sound inconsistent across multiple key. My Y key and the keys surrounding it sound more pingy. It's easily fixed with some dampening foam.
Just something to keep in mind before you buy.
what happens if you put a normal keycap on a low profile keyboard?
any1 know if there is a difference in the delay ?
logitech has more of a clicky sound and (to my ears loud when compared to the) redragon's thockey sound, in the sound test of the video. I prefer the the Logitech K740 which is almost near silent, but get squeaky with some keys over the year of usage (I had my for over 9 years and still using it, and havent found a decent/comparable replacement keyboard).
There are low profile cherry Mx silver/speed switches in the k65 low profile (I think it's called) apparently more of them were made with a cheaper low profile switch also by cherry called the viola, I have the speed variety though. I can't say for sure but by looking at them , if the pin out lines up, they would make a perfect alternative. That being said, pain in the ass to repair/replace though they are the stock switches do sound nicer.
“Hey can i copy your homework”
“Sure but change it a little so the teacher won’t notice”
💀💀
i own the 915 and hate that the alt keys do not light up symbols like +!@ are a pain when im programming. So this may be a great alt i would have bought the red dragon just for the keycaps if they were compatible with the 915
I know exactly what you mean 😂
In south africa the logitech Is curently 4x the price at R5200 vs the Redragons R1300. I dotn know if the Logitech is worth x4 the rpice tbh
FYI Change shutter speed to film LEDs that flicker.
Yeah I've done that to no avail. 🤷♂️
@@TheProvokedPrawn Well that's very strange! Hek
Your accent is pretty sweet. I can't believe I actually found a review between this RedDragon K6222RGB vs Logitech G915 TKL. The absolute worst part of the Logitech, is the non-lit secondary characters. I can't believe how much I hate that. And how in my opinion that's freaking stupid. Why even bother putting any indicators on those keys? They should just make us memorize all keys. I would love it if RTINGS did a review of that red dragon, what I'm really after is a keyboard at ultra low wireless latency.
to me the Logitech as more of that rattling plastic sound when typed on and the redragon is producing some metalic resonance. I currently have the 60% version of that keyboard in a way the anivia and it got no resonance and as that thick sound unlike the Logitech that is using something very different then the cherry style switches
The rattling comes from the way they attach the keycaps. They just kinda loosely clip in place, so the keycaps aren't snug to the switch stem, whereas the Redragon uses a friction fit so there is no rattle. You can put a piece of thick paper (like an index card) between the keycap and the switch stem on the Logitech to get rid of the rattle, but there will still be plenty of wobble, unfortunately.
Can you give me yout feedback on the anivia? I am willing to buy one
So wait, the Redragon is cheaper, has USB-c, illuminated secondary characters, hot swappable switches, etc! Amazing! Shame the wireless sucks.
Logitech needs to move away from micro usb
Yup. Micro-USB was already pathetic in 2020. By now it's a major embarrassment.
Im sorry but most of the things Logitech make is crap in pretty package (
I'm a Logitech user and I'm getting sick and tired of them. Their products are 2.5x they're competitors and I don't think it's justified. They are like the Nvidia in the peripheral space. I'm looking to buy a mechanical keyboard with lights for the dark (optional). But most important wireless. If their is a beast wired keys, I'll go for that as well. I'm just tired of overrated logic.
@@SrChalice The software is the worst now ~ ~ , I don't like those chinese software that one software for one devices, But hey it work as purpose and setting up any button / macro is easy
While Logitech mehhhhhh is so mesh up the software and hard to find where it was when you want to do something, Use to be fan of logitech product but I guess I'm give up
logitechs wireless markup is absolutely insane for a keyboard. I love the design though so if t hey made a wired version of the TKL I might dump my Fnatic Streak 65.
815 tkl?
The flashing is likely due to how Red Dragon does lighting brightness settings. Basically, with cheap LEDs, the way to adjust brightness is to just alternate on and off states really fast. For brighter, it will be on slightly longer than it is off, and for dimmer, it is off more than it is on. You might be able to get rid of the LED flashing in your camera by maxing out the brightness, which generally just keeps them on 100% of the time.
This also happens pretty regularly with cheaper backlit monitors.
All leds flash on and off really fast.
Does this affect our eyes? Not aesthetically, but something like tiring the eyes.
the red dragon sounds better the logitech board is so fucking rattily probably because of those fucking stabilizers. insane that they have made a hotswap version of a logitech keyboard for less than half the price. almost a forth.
The RedDragon sound better to me compare to Shit Logitexpensive.
White keycap sucks for backlighting. How come Apple seems the only company that understands it?
Is it possible to disable RGB on Reddragon?
Yes
logitech premium but bad keyboard with bad key rattling sound. She's just beautiful and that's it, he has no other virtues. The sound of the keys is just terrible.
I thing the logo just sounds like these 10jd membrane keyboards that sounds loud as sh!t and doesn’t have stabs, the redragon sounds like a real mechanical keyboard, and it’s hotswappable, and it’s 52jod, not 200jod for non hotswappable switches and that sounds like sh!t.
Hello 👋
why does it need to be silver q_q
What would you prefer?
@@TheProvokedPrawn just white and not have a silver "background" idk how to call that but in my opinion that grey or silver just doesn't fit and doesn't look good but I can't choose it :/
@@lilayumiii it's also available in black.
@@Harsh-ep6lsbut I want white not silver nor black 😭
crybaby I know
anyways- have a great day
Hello Prawn ! This G915 keyboard has a major problem! Only half of the keys are illuminated. This is totally stupid !!! A G513 has the whole keys illuminated. Why not an 815 or a 915?
When it is dark, you will have to look for the semicolon, dot, and all the special characters. Let's not even talk about European keyboards which are reversed (numbers at bottom => not illuminated at all !). It's even worse, you'll have to look for the numbers!
Really, it sucks and I don't understand why nobody point at this. Same for 815, 915 and all gaming keyboards from Logitech.
TLDR Its a nice chinese knockoff.
Oh man. Im Pro competitive price point and diversity. But that RedDragron is absolutely shameless.
It is very cheeky but at least it has extra features that the G915 doesn't
Shameless?
Qj
More like Logitech is shameless.
