computer was a new thing in India. and my dad bought one and it had this game. it was the first game i played and was the best. i did not even know about the movies. i think i was 7 yrs old. i think it was a golden period for children.

tbh quite a few things in that game were a bit creepy imo :D the way Filch hunted you when you had to sneak Norbert past him (and the sounds and Mrs Norris and...) the way you had to conquer insane hights just to get to the gardens or some seeds etc those dark caves lonely and secluded (hedge)mazes those neverending _pits of blackness_ you could fall into in those challenges with jumping puzzles (although the blue lights in them were kind of pretty) generally the challenges you had to do in classes were always kind of deadly... actually, even e.g. simple corners in Hogwarts right next to torches were really dark/almost black although I guess all that added to the mystery/magic feeling the game had, which was simply _amazing_

Ik i am 6 years late... Bt if u are still wondering and also trying it, u can run it by changing the compactibility settings of exe file... Right click on your exe file - select compactibility - choose windows xp... It should work..
it isn´t :D just downloaded it and played it for a while, the only thing is you find so many things and secret stuff you that you´re in fear that you miss something out :D
LOL I thought it was hard too, but that was just cause I played it when I was a little kid. I went back and played it when I was 15 and it was darned easy. Also I got really scared of the enemies as a kid for some reason lol XD
althought the techonology in this game was very old but the story , gameplay , game atmosphere was very great now a day we have davance graphic technology but lack of good story like this game

I would count it as the remains of the 90s. I feel like that's the case for every decade. The new culture doesnt come in until a few years later after decade. 2000-2001 still brings over the 90s. Just like 1980 and 1981 still looked familiar to the 70s

those who wan to play these game on windows8 or 7 just download VMWARE 10 and install windows XP .iso file in order to create virtual machine it give best experience of playing classical games and give full experience of harry potter video games
***** no i got the actual disc, the problem with harrys glasses only comes with my game sometimes if i goes to the start menu and then enters the game once again.
This brings back such good memories when me and my sister would play this at Christmas time 17 years ago. Definitely better than that dumb Harry Potter smart phone game that came out. So boring.

Believe it or not this soundtrack was actually made by Jeremy Soule, the guy who does the Elder Scrolls soundtracks.
That explains why the "plink" of the synth sounds a great deal like the second night theme in Skyrim O.o
I searched for "the guy who did kotors music" and I almost shat bricks when I found out healso did harry potter skyrim and tons of others
