Can You Hit a Target from a Moving Vehicle? TACTICAL MYTHBUSTER

- HOLLYWOOD!!!! Can people really shoot accurately from a moving vehicle? We put the question to the test. The results may surprise you!
The portrayal of shooting a gun from a moving vehicle as "cool" in popular culture often stems from its association with action-packed movies, video games, and other forms of entertainment that glamorize high-stakes scenarios. The thrill of the chase, the precision required, and the perceived danger can create a sense of excitement for some individuals.
However, the reality is that shooting a gun from a moving vehicle is extremely dangerous and irresponsible. The difficulty of hitting a target while the vehicle is moving, even at just 20 miles per hour, underscores the lack of precision and control in such situations. It poses severe risks to public safety, as bullets fired in such a manner can easily miss the intended target and hit innocent bystanders or property. The lack of control in a moving vehicle further heightens the chances of unintended consequences, making it a reckless and life-threatening act.
Engaging in such behavior not only jeopardizes the safety of others but also demonstrates a lack of understanding and respect for the potential consequences of firearms. Responsible firearm use involves adherence to strict safety measures, and shooting from a moving vehicle blatantly disregards these principles. In essence, while the media may portray it as cool, the reality is that shooting a gun from a moving vehicle is a dangerous and foolish act with severe real-world repercussions.

They call it riding shotgun, what about a semi-auto 12 gauge, something with more spread? 4 buck?
Buckshot doesn’t spread out as much as you would think. You’re talking about the size of a half dollar at 50 yards. But when you only have one good shot a shotgun is definitely an advantage.
@@byewhobayou8868either your trolling or you’ve never actually shot buckshot out to 50 yards. A half dollar is a little over an inch, your looking at more like a 1 1/2 foot spread with double ought at 50 yards and your average 18” barrel self defense shotgun
@@byewhobayou8868
Think you got your numbers crossed. At 50 yards pattern is getting 18” to 48” depending quality of ammunition
@@cr144mc6 haha! You got me. I thought at least someone would ask “really?”. I should’ve known, they do a lot of ballistics testing on this channel.
@@russellridge8623 2 feet sounds a bit much, but yeah, I was just trying to get a laugh. I still got it, though. I really didn’t expect anyone to catch it that fast. 🤣
Tell the insurance company mirror came off in a drive by lol
"hello I'd like to make a service appointment tomorrow, yes yes, my mirror blew apart while I was working, oh what work? uhhh heh"
Great video!
The only problem I see with your setup is you're not using a Glizzy with a switch like an urban youth from Chicago.
Or a cartel hit in Colombia.
Looks like a fun ass video to film, except for the mighty Tundra mirror 😂
Everyone since the old West called that position in the vehicle "Shotgun."
I think you're just using the wrong tool for the job.
Please try it again.
The Israeli Kidon method is supposedly to use motorcycles with two people. Person on the back has ideally an smg and they roll up quickly, stop, hose down the target and quickly speed away.
Makes sense that its almost impossible to reliably hit a moving target while you yourself are moving at speed.
So that’s why the military puts machine guns on vehicles.
Granny with a scatter gun on Beverly Hillbillies :)
Why are you shooting at a 90 degree angle?! You gotta lead that shot ahead of that!
Cameraman?
Backstop probably.
As someone who was taught how to sharpshoot from a moving helicopter. Yes. As long as you understand your lead and your driver is moving at a set speed. Quite easy.
The Texas Rangers around the mid-1800s would put 2 posts the height of a man at 40 yards apart ride their horse at full speed (40mph, most likely less because of the equipment and the grown man on top of them) take their first shot with their rifle continue at full speed and shoot the next post with their pistol, after two months of training they could hit a target the size of a man's head
my theory is that he switched to pistol so he won't break any other parts of the truck 🤣
kidding aside, nice shooting 👍
As kids we used to so this all the time from pickups on back roads. Shoot until you miss at which point you trade places with the driver.. You get good quick... Back then we only had iron sights...
Without ear protection lol.
... but in the movies they can make head shots!😂😂😂
Hell yea boys! My son just bought a van. I told him I got the door gunner pos from the passenger captions chair! Lol💪🇺🇸🦅💯!!
My mom had a minivan like that and my friends and I made a Full Metal Jacket video with a setup not unlike these guys got here. Got blessed out for all the brass we didn't get out when she got it back.
A most excellent video gentlemen! And hilarious. Note to the Camera crew: every video you produce just keeps getting better, smoother, and well thought out. Bravo 👏! I like the new camo visual between takes. Very creative!
I grew up shooting from moving vehicles. It really isn't that difficult. Just a bit of practice goes a long way. Hitting bumps and wheel jerks will throw ya waaay off quick though. Fun video!
OG mac10 and a Uzi is where it's at hand.
You have to hold the gun sideways, that seems to be the SOP for drive by success.
Reminds me of Griffin Group training. So fun!
can you do a 240b form the turret of a HMMWV?? im pretty sure that counts as a drive by
Hopefully mirror gets tourniquet and triple C in time. Luckily it looks like just popped off at seam.
If you practiced regularly you would probably improve a lot. Of course real world involves moving traffic, pedestrians, others shooting back(at least here in Republic of Texas).
Best use might just be to get enemy to duck or by time for you to get distance.
Good video 👍👍
Shooting from moving vehicles will be a commonplace occurence in less than five years, it would seem.
Uh, it has been for decades. It is called a drive-by-shooting.
@@papimaximus95
I meant as a means of survival for the general population. When it comes crashing down people will either go mobile or bunker down. Each will carry its own risks.
Thank you for making this video. I know I've requested this myself a few times. Really cool to see real world results, it's a lot harder than it looks in GTA!
Next up, you guys able to make a video about different zeros? Like 25 yrd vs 50 yrd, 100 yrd, 300 yrd..
Thanks for the great content
Sure you can but you gotta use a tec9 or draco for maximum spray and prey.
I've shot from a moving vehicle multiple times.
I mean, it was 3-5 burst from a 50 cal, and maybe 1 round in 10 hit its target....
You need to do this from a stage coach, do some “old western” myth busters..then after you try all the old western..go to the old old days and shoot across decks of wooden sailing ships..with replica weapons of course. If you’ve ever watched a UA-cam video of cannons firing onto targets that’s amazing stuff!
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Gangstas: 👀✍️👀✍️👀✍️
☠️☠️☠️🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂. This was great 👏
This should be part of your classes!
How much?
Looks like a fun research project. Glad you used an AR-15. My XCR-L throws out brass 18 feet away. Every AR-15 possibly drops at 2 feet. Wouldn't want hot brass bouncing around in the car.
Would prolly end up in the driver's ear.
Fun to watch.
Hikok45 with a Uzi says otherwise😂
Choo choo 🚴
The Mongols have been doing it from horseback for about 900 years, so yes.
Sure you had fun making this video. But seriously with thousands of videos of hog hunting out of moving vehicles I believe this question has already been answered many.
Imri Imri Imri, rookie mistake…always use Karl’s gear when filming videos cos you KNOW somethings gonna get messed up!!
As you well know. They literally have an entire course that teaches you how to shoot while moving in/driving a vehicle.
Props to the driver who was also holding a go-pro.
Love the attitude. You will have more control over the pistol vs the rifle. Less to stabilize.
It is much easier to hit a vehicle that is traveling at a similar speed to you, though the risk to you is equal since most vehicles are unarmored. Even at the target vehicles 10 and 2 O’clock positions, having a perfect 45 degree arc of fire, you can’t interlock with a partner so your effective ranges are extremely limited.
The other issue is having to expose yourself in an awkward manner, creating shooting position problems. I’d much rather have a mounted top cover .50, GMG or even a RWS system and shoot from a position of dominance as part of an ambush.
That being said, cartels and insurgents have an easy time inflicting casualties on soft targets and civilian vehicles. But with anything force on force, every tactic is a double edged sword, and it’s an extremely risky engagement to add moving vehicles to any firefight. Do if you have to hard extract from the contact, by all means. But in an offensive capacity, leave it to the helos.
Great video though, and a great demonstration in humility and reality.
You guys are great. I love this content. RIP to your side mirror 🤣
4:36 are those people??? 😂😮
So I was a paramedic in Los Angeles for about 5 years. In that time, I saw more gunshot and stab wounds then my previous 10 years in the U.S. Army. Typically (at least the 4 drive bys I witnessed/treated) the bad guys would come down the street towards the target at between 5 to 10 mph (really slow and noticeable), then hose down said targets with a mags worth and then speed off. Untrained zero skillz Bangers would still hit 1 or 2 of the people they were shooting it (call it area effect) but they still hit them. We would then transport them to whichever trauma center was open, etc.
I'm surprised at the pessimism over this working. There are plenty of combat entities out there who train to do exactly this kind of stuff. Cool video, all the same!
Looks like the targets were front facing parallel to the road. To make it a little more realistic, try angling them in the direction the vehicle is coming from. To simulate a side torso. I bet you hit a lot more. Anyway, just an idea
Can you? Yes. That's what machine guns are for.
We mounted them on trucks and helicopters.
smaller weapons? Yes, as well. Learning lead times is critical.
Did I mention that it's easier if you remove the windshield and doors.
Best of luck,
Phil
Of course it's absolutely ridiculous! Doesn't mean it can't be done! Shooting from your off hand with the rifle I think was more handicap than you needed to induce. Now you need to try shooting from a moving vehicle while the target is ALSO moving! Yeah, that'd be awesome!
12 gauge bird shot lol. Exactly why the cowboys rode with shotguns on horses
That mirror cover may snap back on
15mph or 20mp in a v6 v8 car reel too fast maybe can hit the target for every train xmen and xlaw.
Awesome drill Sir 🤙👊
Dropping the knowledge bombs, thanks guys!
I asked AI for a good channel to watch based in a few simple examples of things I like and am now here. Thanks ChatGPT for telling me about this channel! 😂😂😂
Welcome aboard!
where do i get one of those grey jackets, looks comfy.
So much easier with a turret-mounted M-60, and it is not easy to source parts for the Lincoln Navigator. Since I no longer have access to an armored vehicle, only shooting back if shot at
But in drive by's you slow down when you cook 😂
😂 if anyone knows Karl, Imri or any other of these supermen, we know that if the have a challenging "go" at it, it's next to impossible for us mere mortals! Waaaaay to go Imri!! Next time let's see Karl do it 😎👍👍
Yup! Did once with a BM-59 out of a SUV 40 rds out the front passenger window with a mag change. Similar results as you!
nice double tap
Thanks!
Shit was dope... need more vids like this!
It's very doable , you use a reverse lead(shoot before sights get to target) Don't practice on road signs....
Next time, hit it with your purse. 😂
Next time don't forget yo' do-rag, and some bling for yo' grill. And cant your gat about 90 degrees, so it's parallel to the ground. Oh, and don't forget to get that bass thumpin'. Yee-ah, that's how we do it, yo. 😆👍
I could hit another vehicle moving at about the same speed. Don't even want to waste my ammo trying to hit a stationary target. I observed, back in the 80s, an AR State Trooper chasing an El Camino south on Reservoir Road. As the car approached a very busy T intersection at Rodney Parham Rd, the trooper held his 44 Magnum out the window with his left hand and fired a shot! No telling what that bullet hit!
Try rit from an atv. I'd love to see how an ar15 and a pistol shot from a moving atv would work.
practice!!
Uzi and spray n pray, ups the odds some. Painting the building behind the target is collateral.
Huns did it from a horse, using a bow.
Bro lot of drive by’s slow down to like 5 MPH or even stop and then race off…
Shooting from moving trucks has been a thing for DECADES
Gun Truck's ring a bell?
i think a 20round mag would be sorta useful.
one I saw on top shot; Shooting from a zipline at fixed targets
We train for that in the military💯
Left-handed or not, you should be shooting right-handed dude.
I did this a bit in group from the razors and some vics for detail protection.
Think this is hard, try and it on horseback at full gallop.
Where’s that toolbox of karls..?🤔..the jack n the bx 1.
You totally forgot to hold the gun sideways.
The handgun over the mirror gives you time to acquire the target.
I agree with those saying shotgun. A vest full of heavy Goose loads, IMO.
I have 20ga 2 3/4" #2 next to my bed. It will take anybody out in the same room and definitely will not be fatal outside an exterior wall. It's probably not lethal in the next room. Family safe.
From the bed of the pickup, back seat, through the sunroof. Or moving targets, popups.
Can you guys do a video on how to clear stairways
Sorry No. We don't do "tactics" on the open internet, only tips & techniques. If you want tactics, come take a class.
Well first few seconds into the video an PROVED it could be done. All really gotta do is lead your shots or pick your moments like any other shooting times an positions. An depending on WHAT your shooting with that sounds like a POSSIBILITY an a Skill that CAN be a very real thing just few if anyone actually works on it.
Modern Samurai/Mongol riding they horses back an forth practicing their archery or competing with each other is what is coming to mind here.
They should do a run where one iteration is ex SOF and the other iteration is ex inner city gang members and see who scores higher
How about firing from a motorcycle?
Can you hit a target from a moving vehicle? Yes, you can but it takes the skill tha only comes from a lot of practice. No, it is in no way ideal, far better to stop to engage. Of course the same can be said about shooting from any compromised position.
Now, a left handed shooter would have a better time of it. Try this, you in the back seat, either engaging on the passenger side with your knee on the seat or behind the driver and engaging from rhe driver's side. HAVE CARE FOR THE DRIVER, as if I have to tell you that.
Redo the test with a 12 gauge. Its called "riding shotgun" for a reason.
When people do drive bys they normally stop then shoot from the car then drive off. Lol nobody does drive-bys like this😂😂 wtf
Yep, I can double tap a road sign at highway speed.
I would like to see you try with a shotgun. Maybe loaded with that crappy military buckshot that has a huge pattern at 25 yards.
Horseback archery is a thing. So theres that
Falling Down
So am I…lmfao..you crazy mfers..I luv yall
So, use a pistol during a drive-by, Check.
As with anything it all depends on the skill of the shooter...
You're aware that there are hundreds of hog hunt videos of drive bys where they drop hundreds of hogs a night offroad bouncing around in a vehicle. You also just now had an almost 100% success rate on hitting at least once every pass. The point of a driveby is u surprise and hit ur target and then are long gone before they can return fire/ reinforcements of any kind can respond. Yeah you will be more accurate stationary.. but bullets are cheap and life is irreplaceable. If u miss 3 and hit once then get away you were successful
Minigun time😁
MK46 gunner riding shotgun?
Drive by 101
Fail - you didn’t hold the gun sideways
How about in reverse? That's one scenario I can imagine you might have to be shooting from a vehicle.
What did you tell the insurance company?
I would go to the salvage yard and look for another. Probably less than the deductible anyway.
Lead, as with an airplane or a running man.
No… you use a Reverse Lead when you are the one traveling faster
1:09 is this some social experiment? cant find anything about this app
Indian special forces carry a microUzi in their laps while traveling like this
In case of an ambush or something they empty everything towards the threat
