  • We often talk about ammo for different purposes during our Tactical Tuesday Livestreams. A favorite topic in Home defense; so I mentioned let's test YOUR ammo. I had a few of YOU, our viewers, send in their personal "Home Defense" ammo for their AR rifles.
These were all great choices for home defense. Everyone has an opinion, and everyone's personal situation is different. My home is different from yours.
Sabre Black Tip, Hornady Critical Defense, and Minuteman Frangible are all excellent choices.
Big thanks to these three great companies for putting out great ammo and big thanks to our viewers for sending us some of their personal stash.
If you have something sexy that you'd like us to test out; well, just shoot us an email at: Tacticalrifleman1@gmail.com
If you want to catch our livestreams; we do them EVERY Tuesday, but NOT here. You are gonna have to head over to our sister channel: TRLive Link: / @trlive7427

@3gunshooter60 I've shot small game and various sized water bottles with it. Damn near blew an armadillo up once with it. If it does thar then I'm confident a round to an arm or shoulder would be catastrophic, even more so on in the torso. I think it has the potential to remove limbs and hunks of meat. Obviously as well as a shotgun but I mean with a binary trigger and a 30 round or 60 round mag you have to admit that's pretty adequate.
I got into a back and forth with a guy over 10mm. His side was 180 grain rounds were ideal for carry rounds and my side was use the 10mm advantage and put light fast rounds that dump all energy in a very short distance. Then.as usual he went into what if they are sideways and you have to shoot through an arm. We'll sir that arm would be disabled or potential no longer attached.

Since we're strictly talking home defense, an informative video would be to combine this one with you older "Ballistics through Walls" test, specifically the drywall portion. Take the typical drywall setup with a gel block behind it and shoot various popular and home defense rounds. Rounds like M193, M855, 855A1,TAP, ELD, LEHIGH DEFENSE, RazorCore, etc. It would be very informative to see how these rounds reacted after they passed through drywall.

It's hard to believe, but a 10.3 , 11.5 , 12" with less velocity are more likely to over penatrait than the 13.7 , 14.5 , and 16". Which ragments much sooner due too their higher velocity. "Tactical Hive" Coch demonstrates of each of the barrel lengths proving this out in testing using reems of paper . The 11.5" with a velocity of 2816 fps went through 4 reems, while the 16" at 3032 fps had total fragmentation in only 2 reems of paper . The test can be found on T.H. channel .

There's an unbelievable amount of home defense ammo options for today's protector. The sky's the limit on the stuff you can use. Makes me think the criminals should choose a different career path.

@@wcoonradt264 That's the fallacy of liberal, leftism. If there are criminal rights to such a degree that those rights ruin the lives of the innocent. Then you don't have property rights, the are no rights for any others. If laws are to control the activities of people. Meaning no rights for those that live well with others. Then the entire structure of society will collapse into anarchy. And that's exactly what is part of of asymmetrical warfare. This what the communist movement has done in America. Working in colleges and the elementary school systems to make systemic changes in American society. To denigrate all aspects of American society. See all the brainwashed young people demanding a conception of an evil Israel as colonialist exploitation of Palestinine. If so isn't Russia a colonialist power exploiting Ukraine? Damaging Ukraine by the Holodomor mass starvation.
That's what bad about allowing bad people that use criminality as a functioning activity in their lives with no repercussions. A kind of robbing Peter to pay Paul. America looks to have fundamental fairness in social relations. Criminals are only looking to satisfy impulsive, immediate needs. Where is your fundamental fairness if a few are allowed to unduly exploit others at the expense of others without repercussions?

For factory loads though the Sub-X is probably the best route. 300blk subs will be PLENTY and save your hearing. No channel better, however once you get passed what gun, what ammo, while both important choices of defense, by far the most important choice is tactics. I wish more channels spent more time on tactics instead of caliber or length of barrel and speed and grains or projectile. How you think is far more important than what you buy.
I know where the bread is buttered and still love this G.B. and this channel.

Good test I've been looking for a defensive ammo for my rifle, FBI requires 12-18 inches of penetration in ballistics gel to be most effective, looks like some of these especially that frangible might have come up a little short but for home defense especially urban areas I'd want to be on the lower end of that for sure. 55gr vmax for me, it holds the exact same zero as my range ammo which is great.

    • @427SuperSnake1
      @427SuperSnake1 5 місяців тому

Wait your talking about these coming up short but your sastisfied with 55 grain vmax that only penetrates 9 inches of block, that’s doesn’t add up. Second the Sabre Blade has been tested over and over and it got to 14 inches after penetrating multiple layers of clothing. So no it didn’t come up short, had he measured it that’s 13-14 inches right there..

If you consider crop damage deer permit shoot an effective testing procedure, and the metric being considered is the amount of time between bullet impact and collapsing, and stoping movement; then M193 is terrible, but 55 gr TAP is really good and at short range say 200 yards and less, the difference in poi between the 2 rounds is not significant

As long as you have the velocity, if you don’t it’s like using FMJ in a pistol. For me M193 is too velocity dependant, ballistic tips have a wider velocity threshold. Not to mention a lot of manufactures are slinging 223 velocity rounds with 5.56 M193 written on the box.

Too many sponsored content, with Cartier my favorite gun of this week, Gucci flavor of the month ammo, hit the lottery to buy some quality glass/optic not made in China and a sling which can basically serve as an f one fitty strap down their phat cousin. Thanks for keeping it 💯 honest, straight and respectful.

I pack my mags with M193 FMJ lol.
Some people don't understand why and I tell em m855 has too much penetration its only really good if you need to get thru something to hit your target otherwise it often times blows clean thru a target and doesnt deliver that umph that 5.56 needs to sit something down and take it out of the fight.
I pack my mags with 25 m193 and 5 m855 at the top. I like m193 because its just lead core FMJ. Its what they were issued in Nam before the M855 became a thing. Really good for fragmenting on impact and delivering full energy transfer but not to good at barrier penetration. Itll get thru a little shit, but the rounds flight path can be altered more easily that m855 after going thru an object.
If I want AP ill spit up the cash for M855A1 or M995
