The most surprising thing to me is that they actually used completely different leg engineering for Optimus Prime vs. his “evil” versions, and that they’re not just simple repaints.
honestly if it were a repaint it would've been better because the new leg engineering sacrifices a lot, it makes the feet blatantly stick out unlike the original mold which is a shame
Yeah the engineering is great. Thank you very much for watching this 😀
I wonder why this was the case. The nemesis and SG prime version has a much better looking track mode, the leg transformation looked just right both in terms of height and length. Also they do have holes for the trailer. I am really puzzled at why they changed it for OP.
@@tonglianheng They most likely changed the design for the legs from newage magnus to optimus in order to give it better articulation and make it look better when articulated, the reason the magnus mold had the articulation sacrifices was so they could get that clean truck bed in order to attach the magnus trailer
@@tonglianheng I have Magnus and Optimus and I have to say the leg redesign does improve things particularly with the hip joint. Magnus has ball joint hips which aren't very secure while Optimus has a much better universal joint. Optimus also has toe and ankle articulation, a split front skirt, very deep ab crunch, and the molded details in Optimus's legs are more prominent.
I have both, and I find magic square op has a better transformation experience. The chest part of the new age version is just unpleasant to transform for me, the diecast part is too tight on my version, while the screws on the fender/front wheel part comes lose easily. Also the arms are a little difficult to fold in and out. Overall just a lot more fiddly. The Magic Square version is much simpler therefore lacking doors etc, but more pleasant to play with, and the robot mode is overall cleaner than the new age version (the stacked windscreens IMHO are too obvious viewed from side and above). Vehicle mode, actually I liked the nemesis and shattered glass version from new age better than both Optimus primes. I wished new age will release a version of the nemesis prime in op colours. Just my two cents.
Ok thank you very much for watching this 😀
I don't personally care about transformations since I rarely display in alt-mode. Newage kills it with the robot mode and I'm curious to see how Magic Square responds with their 2.0
The 2.0 actually has doors
@@RIS3N1 Imo, robot mode Newage has weird thick chest and back proportions
The packaging for the NewAge Prime is just fantastic. Thank you for another entertaining and informative video.
Well thank you!
Love your VS. They really help me out! Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Thank you much love big bro.
Thanks Matt. I have the painted version of MS Megatron and want a Optimus. You have helped me soldify my decision to New Age.
Thank you very much
Another great video to start off 2022. Awesome stuff man, you are thourough and concise, makes for better reviews. Love the stuff you do as always. Both figures are great, I prefer the new age, even if I don`t collect legends. Can`t argue that these figures are awesome.
You complete me
Having just received MS Prime 2.0, I can comfortably say it blows both of these figures out of the water. Nothing comes closer to representing G1 cartoon Prime than this MS Prime 2.0. Tonnes of accessories, amazing articulation, lovely transformation, and he's gorgeous! I can't wait for your review! :)
Aweome! Cant wait to get him. Thank you very much for watching
Great Comparison! David looks amazing!
You're awesome
Thanks for the versus video, Deluxe - good stuff 👍
Thank you very much for watching this 😀
Hello Deluxe, I was wondering how does Newage David stand next to MS Doomsday? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I'm new to collecting 3rd party TF.
David will be smaller than the MS Optimus next to Megatron. but it prob could work. Thank you so much for watching
So good, love em.
Thank ya!
Newage TF look more like a G1 cartoon accurate and I love it !
Heck yeah they do! thank you very much for watching this!
Prime megs, seekers new age devastaytor and more shouldwave shockwave bee and c,jumper ironhyde and so much more.
Newage and MS are getting a hard battle to stablish the perfect cartoon/toy-accurated Optimus KO for collectors. At this moment I think my favorite still being the 1st Magic Square. Is a bit bulkier, yeah, but have that thing from original toy, with details like using the actual windshields for torso instead of some fake part, as seen on new MS and Newage Primes. Transformation is a bit less complex and you get a robot with less little panels (that awkward Rubik Cube effect) Scale is also fine with rest of MS/Newage bots, and you can even fit the MS prowl inside (OMG the Newage trailer cannot get Newage Prowl in!)
Great review and Vs comparison, looking forward to see 3rd part with next MS Prime.
Awesome! Thank you very much for watching this 😀
Hi Deluxe. When you get the new MS Optimus in could you please do a comparison with Newage Megatron? I'm curious to see how they look together.
oh yeah most definitely will do that. Thank you very much for watching this!
You are my legend prime that's why I have what I got.
This decided me on the Newage David 'Youth' Version (no trailer). 50 bucks with postage and I can now have a Op Prime to bully my Decepticons. Lol! Have to admit though, I love the 'chonk' of Magic Squares OP and that light piping but I prefer the translucent chest sections of Newage - just damn pretty. Will definitely consider buying it if they do a yellow or blue 'Delta Magnus' version.
Awesome! thanks for watching this
watching this review, playing with the Newage Magnus, and listening to Sleep's Dopesmoker. so, yes, i am having a good night
Lol thank you good sir
I kept hearing good things about Sleep and that album in the past. I'm not big on Stoner Metal, but may have to check it out.
Strangely enough while new age usually wins with paint, and it definitely wins as far as prime goes, the trailer it's is really bare and the MS one looks so much better. Just weird they did not put much care in the trailer, that's also may be a reason to get the cheaper trailer- less version
Awesome! Thank you very much for watching this 😀
These are both great figures, but I give the slight nod to New Age. A great video as always.
Thanks for being awesome
I like more MS v1 OP color trailer, size but I like more NA OP roller and turret.Truck mode is similar in both versions, NA truck has better paint, transparent windows and has a visible door with also transparent glass. NA OP bot mode is better, but of course the real comparison will be with MS OP v2.0. Another great video and happy NY :)
Thank you very much for watching this 😀
Newage recently revealed their Prime toy deco version which I am definitely going to pick up. IMO Newage always beats out Magic Square when it comes to doing toy decos.
Thank you very much for watching this 😀
I've been watching the g1 series and I think...I could be wrong, but i think new age is actually more accurate to the cartoon. I actually don't remember seeing blue stripes on the trailer. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
They both look amazing 👏
You look amazing
@@DeluxeBaldwin you sexy beast, such a tease !!🤣😂🍻
I didn’t pay anywhere near $120 for David. I got mine at Omegalock for $86 (£62.99), and that’s with the trailer.
well that is awesome! Thank you very much for watching this!
Yeah! Hope you’re having a wonderful vs review or night! Great review as always! You know what it is - dawwwww
Likes prayers shares carebears that was awesome!!! NA killin it !!
You're too awesome
I have the MS metallic Prime. He is pretty good. The NA looks decent, except for the chest. If I bought it though,I'm sure it wouldn't bother me as much. Has Mechanic Studios or Mech Fans or whatever they are this week do an Optimus?
I dont think they have done prime yet.
I like the both but like any thing that has a roller haha
Thanks
can't have too many optimus primes!
Looks to me like the NA has a better vehicle mode (including a much more functional, if not as nice looking trailer), but MS has the better robot mode.
Thank you very much for watching this!
Newage is smaller till you get to Ultra Magnus, MS is much smaller then the NA. I have both but unfortunately my MS has a QC issue so I can’t transform him. I have a panel for the right leg on the left leg so it doesn’t work. NA Magnus is the best Legends scale.
Sorry to hear about your QC issue. Thank you very much for watching this
Magic Square can "do the full Van Damme", but he's a smidge short on "the full Monty" because of that "paralyzed butt flap" there. Doesn't seem like he can get that "giggity giggity goo" with the head, but who cares there for something so kinda tiny? (Yes, just combined some Bobby Skullface and some Mecha Gaikotsu) Meanwhile, I find it funny that the front skirting panels on the NewAge are VERY similar to MP44...though I do wish that they went simpler with the chest and had reversible windows (MP44 has you flip them around for robot or truck)...
Overall, NewAge is doing the thang. It's an interesting comparison, but it's like comparing MP10 (which both Magic Square's Masterpiece & Legends offerings are inspired by) to MP44...whatever, now we need NewAge to do a Megatron 2.0 that they can call "Goliath" to go with their "David". 😏😏😏 Oh, there's also the "Youth Version" of NewAge's Optimus that lacks the trailer, but it also apparently does away with the diecast, all to clock in at less than half the price of the normal one.
Ok awesome! Thank you for watching this.
I'm going to hav a lot of floor time b,cuz of you bro.
Matt deluxe you are the reason why I collect legend class me, and new age I got almost 30 in less than 2 month yes I fell in that rabbit whole but I'm in love just like you but I don't have the money you hav but I'm happy.
Man it aint about the money. Love what ya got and thats all that matters. But that is awesome that your collection is growing! Gotta love some legends! Thanks for watching this!
At first, I thought "nah, I can't double dip, MS will be fine, I have it already," but I have the NewAge coming in the mail. It just looks soooooo good! If it had a double jointed elbow, I'd say it's perfect for legends scale. Newage wins: fatality.
Until MS 2.0 arrives in a couple of months. He looks better than both of these, in my opinion.
@@Anduril1974 im in
Heck yeah! Thank ya
IDK how this is going to pan out, it seems like they're going to oversaturate the market soon. Releasing updates of the same thing just makes the previous version obsolete, right? Plus the legends scale seem to disappear when I put them on the shelf. Why wouldn't you just get the KBB masterpiece one for the same price (or less)? It's got diecast stuff in it. Serious question. I know you might collect a certain scale, which is a fair point. It's just starting to not make sense to me anymore.
They've been doing this in CHUG and MP scale for awhile. So it's not new. Thank you very much for watching this 😀
@@DeluxeBaldwin I just wonder what's next. I did enjoy your comparison.
Well thank ya! Much appreciated. 😀
you forgot to point out that you can store stuff in the newage rear trailer tires box
Ok
I got my newage OP for 75dollars from showz and they have a barebones version for 45 dollars coming out
What barebones version?
Thank you very much for watching this 😀
@@hakimieahmad6734 if you check out shows you'll see it, it's a version with coloured plastic instead of paint and no diecast and no trailer but still has the other accessories
now do the new msb46 against david
Yes Master! I plan on doing it when he comes in stock.
Easy lemon sqweeze.
I think Newage sacrificed too much of the alt mode in regard to the feet given how they did it with nemesis and SG primes
Ok thanks for watching
Waiting ms 2.0
Thank you very much for watching this 😀
You forgot to show off the opening doors on the Newage's prime also Newage looks taller
Ok
wrong comparison bub.... u should use the magic square v2.0 prime ... design , enginerring and accessories wise blows newage away!!
No its not bub..... if you don't have the 2.0 version yet like I don't. Then I used the only one I had bub. Once I get the 2.0 version in then I'll do that one. Thank you very much for watching this 😀
MS transformation engineering is "Heinous".
Ok thank you very much for watching this 😀
Still rocking my dx9. These look great. The legs in alt mode do look awful though, for both MS and NA. Not a fan of NA chest seam that reveals the transformation so blatantly. Tough call. If there's a toy deco that could win my $$.
Thank you very much for watching this 😀
NewAge should get to work on a version 2.0 G1 Optimus Prime mold.
Why? This just came out.
@@DeluxeBaldwin Well, in the G1 cartoon, Optimus Prime's chest wasn't so bulky.
And? Why do you always comment that a company needs to get to work on something?
@@DeluxeBaldwin My point is, Transformers toy companies in general should think real hard before creating their figures if they want to make their figures look more movie or cartoon model-accurate. Why do I always comment? Well, why do upload videos on your channel? Don't you want Transformers toy companies (Both official and unofficial) to create their versions of a character that you like? Maybe I'm wrong abut NewAge G1 Optimus Prime. Maybe NewAge should work on a new trailer for Optimus where all any member of the Autobots can fit in his trailer. For example, you mentioned that NewAge G1 Prowl couldn't fit in Prime's trailer.
@@TheRealDustinNunn ehhh idc if they think real hard before creating a figure. if its movie or toon accurate. Its not that big of a deal. If you like it buy it, if you dont then dont. Simple as that. I asked about the comment because that all you do is say some company needs to get to work on something when they just put out something. And a car fitting in the trailer isnt a selling point for me at all. I point it out but i could care less as it will go back in the box anyway. So you have a wonderful day or night
Stupid Stick Matrix
lol mmmhmmm exactly! Thanks for watching good sir!
