I've watched a LOT of axle stall videos. I always skipped this because the thumbnail made it look like it was on something other than a mini ramp. I was wrong. Definitely one of the best videos for axle stall I've seen.
Wow, just came across your channel. I dont know how you dont have more subscribers!?!? You make very high quality videos and they make learning tricks heaps easier. Me and my dad are building a mini ramp in our backyard and im using your videos to help me progress. I've been skating for about 9 months now and so far on a quaterpipe i can rock to fakie, rock and roll, axle stall, 50-50, 5-0, feeble, and smith. Hoping you make more videos so i can learn more. Also that is a sick mini ramp in your backyard.
I know this was posted six years ago, so I’m arriving to the party a little bit late. Still, I’ve got to agree with the other folks who have said this is the best. It is! Hands-down, this is the most thorough, approachable, and actionable how-to video for this maneuver. I’m going to be watching more of your stuff and recommending these to my students.
Just got a powell peralta 8" mini logo deck and some independent trucks off of Gumtree, then bought some 56mm mini logo wheels with bones reds and some risers and hardware. Seems to be doing the job so far! Only really doing pumping and kickturns in the mini and dropped in a couple of times with a painful first try haha :)
Alex Watson Siiiick man. Indy's are definitely the way to go. I'm impressed you're already able to drop in! I fell and hurt myself the first time I tried it too, I think it's like a right of passage or something haha.
Had been trying this trick for hours but not transferring my weight onto the deck. After following your steps I could easily do it. Thanks so much for this video.
Justin Lauria I surf but on days when the waves aren't pumping I've been recently trying out the 2ft mini ramp at the park. I did a few rock to fakies but wanted to learn this trick cause it translates to surfing pretty well.
Amazing tutorials man, concise and good tips with easy to understand steps. Don't stop making these man they're gold dust to me😂 helped me learn a few tricks ;)
sweet videos man. I've been skateboarding for 5 years now and all I've been doing are just flatground/street stuff and now I really want to learn transition. I just got rock and rolls and tiny front slashers the other day down proper but am still scared to do rock fakies and axle stalls (ginormous phobia of hanging up) but these are great. definitely have to try out some more transition skating, those two tricks I do are super fun and I can only imagine how much better it'd be to have more stalls. a back disaster would be amazing, that'll be the goal for now! keep doing these!
Justin. I don't know how to drop in yet, Is dropping in from that axle stall technique easier, and give the same benefits as slamming your trucks down? Let me know. Thanks
Ryan Duggan I honestly think that the axle stall drop in is a little harder to learn than the tail stall version, just because you have to do that 90 degree rotation and your trucks start out up on top of the coping. Dropping in the 'usual' way, you start with your back wheels already underneath the coping, and all you have to worry about is leaning far enough into the quarter pipe, and the rest kind of takes care of itself. I'm sure there are people out there that learn the axle stall one first though, so if it seems like it would be easier for you, I'd say go ahead and give it a try. Just make sure you practice on some really mellow stuff first like a flat bank or something. and WEAR A HELMET!
Ryan Duggan Oh man, that is PERFECT. You're going to get all your transition tricks down in no time on that thing; and it does carry over to the bigger ramps (with a little work) so don't worry too much about that. Did you try dropping in yet? I know some people don't get to skate every day, so you might not have been able to try yet. If you haven't, you should definitely try it the next time you go out. Let me know how it goes!
How do you balance your weight coming back down, I never seem to get it right & fall. Should I place all my weight on the back truck with 1 wheel, then when nose rotates 90 & up, just go & balance my weight on the transition coming down?
Staza Gaming Haha yes, I'm very lucky to have it. I try to skate it as much as possible but I like going to all the Austin area skateparks too, so usually it's whenever I only have time for a quick session or if I need to do a lot of filming on a mini ramp without being in everyone else's way.
The best tutorial on this I've seen.....and I've watched a lot

nope. I meant what I said. I wasn't turning my shoulders far enough. I got the trick now
Do u have any tips on trying to phsyck yourself up to be like f@&$ it and commit
Anyone know why he quit posting videos?
Doing a axle stall drop in is scarier than riding up to it imo
I can get my trucks to lock in, but I can't get my body on top.
That's a 50 50
It's a 50-50 if it's moving, in this he teaches how to do it without moving, hence the name axel STALL
bald spot
I just can’t lean back
I can get my trucks to lock in, but I can't get my body on top.
