Well done mate, good video I must admit I've just found you on UA-cam, and it helps me alot with my ptsd and the few lad's I fish with are like brothers I can chat with and have great banter with. Thanks.
Cheers Alex … That was one greedy Cod, your perseverance paid off mate with that cracking Cod, nice to be rewarded like that now and again, well done mate, take care 👍🎣🎣
Right then !! I'm off out with the shrimp net, whatever I catch in that will be my bait for the next session.😅😅😅 Really enjoyed the vid again pal, watched it twice 👍👍
Thanks for the new video. I think the mild autumn and warmer water is likely to be the main reason for the weed, when I used to do the bulk of my sea fishing 30+ years ago there were no chances of bass and rays in November, yet now it's not out of the ordinary.
Cracking video!! My mate Soupman Leigh got me into your channel and we both really enjoy what you do!! It’s hard going here on the Mersey but we just keep plucking away!! Tight lines
Glad you enjoy the content pal. Its hard going all over so far. Seems there's been a rise in cod caught this week on the east coast though, so they're on their way!
I've often thought that the wind farms would benefit fish stocks as I'm guessing they can't lay nets around them. Judging by that cods stomach there is plenty of biodiversity on that stretch of coast
What a great session alex. But yeah the weeds been killing it big time. As for the wind farms I agree as the haddock have been a real shock. Hopefully the water temp kills off this weed now winter is settling in. But great vid as always matey 🐟🐟🎣🎣
Hi Alex, I had several conversations with skippers when I used to go on boat charters about the future effects on fishing of the new wind farms. At the time their thoughts were that the vibrations from the wind farms would drive away the fish not provide sanctuaries as I thought they would. I haven’t seen any reports or spoken to anyone for some years. It would be really interesting to know if these big wind farms have become sanctuaries for breeding age fish and allowing small fish to grow on. I was hoping they would provide sanctuaries and improve shore fishing.
One thing I learned about fishing dungeness in Kent Whiting after the whiting if you stop catching them that's the time you'll catch a cod ...so when youre catching lots of whiting isn't the best time to catch cod
Always the case, the bait has to be there. Cod follow the whiting, so if the whiting are there, the Cod aren't too far behind. Same as this summer on the mersey, the dogs would turn up, closely followed by the rays.
Nice 1 pal another good cod for the table 👍, greedy buggers them cod had all that in its stomach and still wanted your bait haha. Weed looked a nitemare 🙉 see you in the next 1 tight lines 👍
Hi you whère suffering from cold feet I suffer from renulds and my feet get so cold i can harly walk and I would recommend grubs snow line welly they are the best I have tried cheers
@@theawfulangler Hopefully you'll tag a double that will be full of them 🤞🏻 Keep up the good work. Always an enjoyable watch. Best wishes from south derbyshire ✊🏼
Hi agree with your comment as regards natural fish environment. Good for us shore anglers.😊 As regards weed could be due to change of weather climate etc. Wind farms shouldn't act as a net to contain weed. My thoughts only.
I was watching another video where the guy did an experiment comparing weed sticking on Braid v Mono. Mono won by a big margin. Hardly any on it compared to the braid
All depends. Mono has a much scooter surface. But usually, you need shockleader, which requires a knot. That's where the issues lie as far as I'm concerned. The amount of times I've had to run backwards up a beach or handball fish up a wall because the weed/knot combo are stuck in the tip ring (sounds painful)
I had to swap a battery half way through this session i think. You could see it by eye, but doesnt look like the camera picked it up. At least it was fairly easy to get off this time, not like may rot.
Instead of 10 minutes of fishing we had 2 minutes of adorable dogs. That's fine with me, hope that the camera has more flaws so I can have more dogies.
Love your stuff man, makes me feel like less of dick head angler with your honest takes, blanks and all and the mens mental health stuff, really hard to talk about that stuff as a bloke, total respect to you brother.
That all depends mate. My go to is braid, if just switched from 0.08mm braid and 70lb shockleader, to 88lb braid straight through. That way there is no leader knot to get tangled in weed. Mono, I use 15lb with a 70lb shockleader
Well done mate, good video I must admit I've just found you on UA-cam, and it helps me alot with my ptsd and the few lad's I fish with are like brothers I can chat with and have great banter with. Thanks.
That's what it's all about mate 👌🏽 glad you're enjoying the videos
Excellent good lad 👍 well done... Tight Lines 🎣👀....
Brilliant vid as always, we'll done Alex

Fabulous Alex...loved the fish autopsy 😂...should have wrapped it and sent back out.
Another great video mate we seem to get weed problem here in Norfolk when we have east winds
Nice one Alex, enjoyed the post mortem 😅 when we used to get a few around here they were mostly full of brittle starfish and sand crabs 👍
I've never opened a fish and found starfish, that's a new one on me Daz
@@theawfulangler yip stuffed with them, the little spidery things that the legs fall off 🤣

I'm with you on that mate. September marked the end of bass season as a kid. Now, my pb came in January this year.

Hi Alex, with all that weed you could have made some Lava bread as a side dish for the cod and whiting. 😀😀. Well done In challenging conditions.
I'll have to look that one up for next time
Good vid and some nice fish.
Thanks buddy!
well in pal cracking video well done on the ciod

Regardless of Go Pro issues, congratulations on a great session. Hope for more "long nights" like that!

Hi Alex again great video mate looking forward to seeing the next one

Nice busy session fella, shame about all that weed.
Thanks for sharing
Kept us on our toes Ritchie

Well done alex a good haul aftera good hard slog at it😉👌
Cheers mate 👍🏼
Great video again Alex well done on cod mate.
Thanks buddy
Another decent sesh m8 👏 , the weed on the east coast can be a nightmare aparantly so it looks like it comes with the territory m8 , tight lines 🎣
Yeah it can, but usually you get a couple of weeks of it and it disappears again. This year it turned up around July and just hasn't moved since
Great vlog as usual Alex. Keep uploading the good work m8. Bloody hell that cod was full of food but still took your bait.😂😂😂
He had a better appetite than me, and that's saying something
Well done buddy, great to see.
Thanks matey
Another good video alex. Turned into a good session
Hi you whère suffering from cold feet I suffer from renulds and my feet get so cold i can harly walk and I would recommend grubs snow line welly they are the best I have tried cheers
All good here still, still no fishing which is disappointing, but still out beating on the pheasant shoot which is great fun
Cracking session Alex shame the dreaded red weed was about though
It's never cleared off since July over that side
Always interesting to see what they've been eating 😎👍🏻
Yeah I was expecting whiting not flatties

I need to get out the mersey i think and venture to some new venues
Are your tip lights playing up? Weed you have to work through but it's demoralising at times.
I had to swap a battery half way through this session i think. You could see it by eye, but doesnt look like the camera picked it up.

Haha I could fill hours and hours of their antics
Nice video I need toget a nice set of beach rods
well done m8
Thanks
Congrats on the catches chief. Just to bust your balls though not winter yet bud. Especially if video was in November 😛

Cheers Steve! It's just honest fishing over here, warts an all!
After taking the stomach contents out of that codling it now only weighs a pound and a half lol🐟🇬🇧
Do you ever bleed the fish for the table?
Bown and pink shrimps in the cods stomach m8
I tried to make a funny 😅
@The Awful Angler what pound line do you use?
That all depends mate. My go to is braid, if just switched from 0.08mm braid and 70lb shockleader, to 88lb braid straight through. That way there is no leader knot to get tangled in weed.

putting the hours in mate
