- There are usual landings, there are belly landings, there are skid landings (like Me-163). But this one - is the 1st "wing stub landing" i know of. :) And not for nothing - managed to take out couple pesky shvalbas and win the match, after getting repairs.
Also, this is probably most messed-up but still repairable plane i ever landed. After 2nd wing was gone, the game repeatedly offered to eject, considering the plane too damaged to continue. Fortunately, for some reason it did not eject the pilot forcefully. So i kept flying. The jet under the belly gives this plane the ability to push its nose up - even without any much wings. So i knew i had a chance.
Remained full throttle all the way to the final descent to the runway, and despite that, had almost no acceleration. Much of engine power which would normally accelerate the plane - was instead being spent to keep it flying more or less level. And of course, loss of both ailerons made it quite tricky to stay not reverted at all times (which i think would crash me, if i'd fail to prevent it at some point).
I was quite expecting to spin out of control once i touch the runway. One main gear landings tend to do that. So, i tried my best to land it precisely and softly - and managed to completely negate vertical speed exactly when touched down. Air speed was quite perfect for aircraft condition, too - and so it's one landing i am quite proud of.
Very impressive indeed! Quite peculiar how that Me-262 got the kill scored on you, but you managed to come back and win!
Did you fly using the mouse controls or joystick? I could not imagine landing a plane so well without both ailerons and both wings.
And one more question - why did you decide to low that one gear with the wheel? Belly landing would be my go to in such situations, but I guess I don't know something here...
Used mouse aim and mouse-joystick modes both, switching between them has a special keybind in controls. As for lowering the remaining gear - these yaks have the engine in the belly, easy to damage it, so i figured i'd soften the touchdown as much as i can. Worked. :)

Why? I think Su-7 is still the best plane for verticals. Did Gaijin increase the maximum allowed altitude to over 30 km? If not, then there is no reason to make another... Yet. :)
@@finsfinst4274 I just really enjoyed it cause I don’t own any planes that can go that high and see literal space. I rely on UA-cam.
@@slugdog2435 In this case, perhaps this one older video will show you more of it: ua-cam.com/video/u0upDQ6BUbE/v-deo.html . Even flying inverted before the dive at some 27 km altitude there, as that's the only way 3.12 Mach was (barely) achievable. Just doesn't dive normally as fast as needed. Almost no air for the elevator. :)
