Well, not the systematic racism but the specific “I can’t breathe” line was there before the death of George
Erin Jones that line was originally referring to Eric Garner, who also shouted “I Can’t Breathe” while being murdered by a police officer. Police brutality didn’t begin with Floyd.
The crazy part of this song is that it was made and released well before George Floyd's death, yet the screams/lyrics of "I can't breathe...on our knees we pray...got my head on a guillotine, slipknot around my neck come and take a seat...dead on arrival" all completely echo everything about the situation and what the US and world are going through. Such a perfect song right now.

Yeah I heard this song for the first time right after mr Floyd's death. And I was like.....wow....literally speechless. And the visuals in the video. Visceral.
Its tragic what happened to Floyd, but that man was a criminal with a terrible history of offenses and violence. I will not make a criminal my martyr but I stand with all the innocent minorities out there. He was also high on meth and fentanyl and was threatening a store owner, so I personally do not feel for him, instead I feel for his family

@@lukeblight1266 it shouldn't matter about his past. At the moment of his death he wasnt hurting anybody, and even if he was truly committing a crime by using a counterfeit bill (doubtful) there is no way a public execution was a justified response.

I technically came across this song yesterday and I was blown away by watching it. I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped. This song definitely resounded with all that's going on. Dude IPrevail and Joyner Lucas nailed it all in the same coffin.
I just watched that yesterday and I had chills through and through. Keep in mind, this song was written and album released a while ago already, so that "I can't breathe" was complete fucking coincidence, but an absolutely powerful and fitting one. Joyner I think was a very necessary and fitting addition to this song, and they did it very well imo.
The song itself is angry, aggressive, it makes you feel the pain and anguish. The video, makes you see the despair, the corruption, the sadness, and cruelty of our society. I think of their music video releases, I Prevail absolutely nailed 'Breaking Down' and 'DOA'. They are hugely relevant (not that the others aren't, mind you), powerful at getting the point across, and relatable in some way to some people.
Say what you want about I Prevail, but they are facing subjects head on that make most people uncomfortable and I applaud them for it. Again, not to say other bands don't do as such.

I was looking to forget how hard these times are but I saw joyner lucas and clicked this video, this was a real song, a really good way on how the art can be use to express what you feel, an awesome way to show that rap and metal (if it sounds like djent i dont know if it's metal right now) are genres used to express anger, can be used to give you that reality check you need... Thought I was gonna think less by spending time on youtube, ended up thinking more about the whole situation... Stay strong people...

I’m still working my way around I Prevail. I’ve heard the more radio played songs like Alone, Hurricane, and Breaking Down. Found this video today because of another react channel. Got me wanting to see other UA-camr’s reactions to the video. This video is nothing less than breathtaking in its portrayal of events that are extremely applicable to our current social-political environment. Set that to the lyrics and you have a message that must be shared with all. The video says it as plain as it needs to be said. We are all in this together.

The state of Massachusetts has quite a few popular rock/heavy metal bands. I never thought a rapper with such talent would ever emerge. I'm a metal guy through and through, but Joyner Lucas is pretty bad ass.
I got the opportunity to meet Eric from I prevail (the deep voice in the band) and he stopped to take pictures and talk to me and my girlfriend. He is a great guy and the rest of the band sounds great too

This song was written and produced last year, the collab with Joyner Lucas came out a few days ago. And it unfortunately just so happens the George Floyd situation happened a couple days before this music video even came out. So the “I can’t breathe” line makes the whole song so much better

I can’t believe how fitting the lyrics are. DOA came out last year and Joyner Lucas would have written his segment for the re-recording before the recent tragedy. So eerie yet so relevant.
