Solo Tarp Wild Camping in a Mountain Forest 🌿
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 сер 2024
- I hiked in to one of my favourite (and slightly crazy) mountain forests for a tarp camp, and had a go at pitching my tarp using a pine tripod. Not sure if it’s right or not but it held up great so can’t be too bad :D
The wind got up in the early hours and made me nervous as the pines fall all over the place in this forest, so I got packed up at dawn and headed to my next location
See you next time for a tarp camp next to a mountain lake in strong wind & heavy rain! It was interesting haha!
Thank you for watching 😊 Much love, Claire 🌿🐻

Whoa! Right at the end of your video, as you're walking away, you pass an uprooted tree, and the rootball is taller than you are! You look at it like "oh, that's just a normal occurence," then you just keep on talking and hiking! I can tell you just love what you are doing, so I hope you keep on living your best life and encouraging us to do the same! Thank you so much for being you!
What a charming, lovely, courageous and self assured young woman. I always know that when one of your videos pop up in my feed, I am in for a delightful experience. Please stay safe and thank you for taking us along on your adventures. All the best to you, Claire!🙏👍👍❤❤
Ahh thanks so much Stephen, that's so nice of you to say 😊 I'm so glad you like them, I love to make them so thank you for coming along with me :) Wishing you a wonderful week! 🌿 Claire
If you are in love after watching Claire’s videos, put your hand up.
Hand is up! 🌱🌿😍👍🧘🏼🙏
You are absolutely Lovely. Everything about you.
Ever since I was a little girl, at night , while laying in bed, I'd pretend I was out in the forest, and I was in some cozy little shelter that I had constructed myself.
Sadly, I never really made that happen, for real.
Don't get me wrong, my mom and dad would take my brother and I camping, often. Hiking, fishing, etc.
However, I've never had a go at it by myself.
Mostly due to fear of being alone!
I think it's time to wrestle that fear.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful experiences. They always calm me and make me smile.
Safe travels, always!! ❤
love the Q&A section Claire, also a great explanation being scared vs risk, you always have risk and as you say, it's mitigating the risk that allows you to not hide up in doors. Totally agree with the bad humans! great little camp too, nice and easy, and it must be right as it stood there all night. 😀
Heyy thanks, yeh can't live a full life without a bit of risk. I'm pleased it stood up :D wasn't really sure what I was doing with this one to be honest, but like you say it was still standing in the morning so can't be too bad 😄 Thanks so much for watching and have a lovely eve :D 🌿Claire
Claire your videos are amazing and you’re a true role model for females of all ages. Like you, we all have our issues, but how you deal with yours, with such optimism, is a lesson to us all. You truly are a remarkable young lady with a can do attitude and your videos are a pleasure to watch. Good Luck in everything you do Claire and more importantly, keep on smiling; it lights up the darkest of places. Finally, thank you for sharing your wonderful expeditions, I look forward with anticipation.
Father of 4, grandad to 10. 😊👍
↟↟Nice filming and beautiful music✨
Best regards

As I have gotten older, I find that I'm not as confident on my solo trips as when I was younger. Your adventures obviously push you out of your comfort zone. Sharing your thoughts and accomplishments with us encourages me to keep pushing myself to enjoy, appreciate, and renew my mind in the great outdoors. You are truly an inspiration! Safe travels and may your heart be filled with peace and joy. One amazing lady!
I really enjoyed this video. The Q&A was delightful. This is one of my favorite videos that you have made. Thank you for your hard work in making these videos and taking us with you on your adventures.
After a rubbish week. Your video again has helped me reset, combination of your voice and being out in nature with you! Thank for for sharing Claire 🙏
You are such a great, creative shelter maker. I've watched four of your videos this evening. I wouldn't want to camp alone in the forest. I would be terrified of wild animals. I admire your spirit. Keep em coming.
Not to mention cryptids...
Wild animals? Here in the UK, we have children's story book animals, such as Fox's, Badgers, Squirrels and Hedgehogs. No venomous spiders and only 1 venomous snake which is very shy and rarely seen. Which makes camping in the UK very much safer.
Another superb video, I love watching your videos they are truly inspirational - I love the comment about bad humans and being safer than a city centre as how true is that, I can relate 100% as I am a bit of a lone wolf, I don’t need a lot of people around me just 1 or 2 is happy days. Have a fantastic week Claire and keep these amazing videos coming, you should have your own TV show about the outdoors, if anyone from National Geographic is watching please reach out to Claire as she is amazing 👍🏻👍🏻😀
Maybe in the next life our souls will meet...
I will forever be drawn to you!
Instant ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
God bless, Drew
I can so relate to the modern world frying the mind & I believe it's one of the causes to depression. I try & get out in nature with my daughter as much as I can (only day adventures for now) & I feel like I can breath & it instantly relaxes me. I have a lot of admiration towards you for doing solo camps 🙌
Another artistic triumph !…… your ability to meld the beauty of your videos and select music that is so right is a rare gift ……..I totally understand being happy with your own company and how being sociable is both difficult AND not important …….and how life can be way too busy and confusing ….as others have said …I look forward to the notification that there is another video to enjoy …….. here’s to the outdoorsy stuff … take care 😀
Love the attitude about life in general. Confident, attractive, a complete package.
We are all Spirits having a human experience. you go Claire and love everything you do 🙏💜
The fact that you are a professional photographer really shows on the quality of your videos and the editing that you do ; and of course, the occasional drone footage (assuming you don't lose the drone !!) I suspect it's that video quality which makes some people think that you must have someone else filming you. Keep going ; And stay safe 👍
Great demo of the tarp, too true much safer on a hill or forest than in town. Nothing better than being out in a tent. My prize possession as a child was my tent, nearly 50 now all I have to do it put a tent up anywhere even back garden, get in and I instantly relax, back to being a kid again.
Ahh that's fab, it's a lovely feeling isn't it 🥰 yehh I feel that way even using it in my living room haha, good stuff
The good thing about bad humans if that’s not a contrary description, is that we learn to recognise and avoid them. We adapt, we change and we create a way of life without them. Makes perfect sense to me.
I’m not anti-social, just not comfortable in social settings. The last 2 years of home working has been good for me if I’m honest. Being comfortable with your own company is a good skill to have.
Funny how people assume being alone in a forest is scary, when in actual fact you’re statistically safer than in an urban setting. As long as you’re mindful of surroundings, prepared for most eventualities and use common sense, you’re going to be just fine.
Thanks for the video and the Q&A too Claire. Hope you have a great weekend 👍🏻
Hello.. There is nothing that compares freedom it gives you heart and soul something special. I loved being in Winter months with solo camping and some great things to cook. Just spending time away to relax and forget about what is happening in our world today.. Thank you.. regards Mick.. x
love the sound of the wind in the pines
Hello Claire from NZ, Thank you for sharing your fears. I have been in the mountains for over 50 years as a guide and as a teacher of bush craft ( and I'm still teaching). To help my students over come their fear of being alone I take them night tramping (hiking) and during the day I give them half an hour start on the bush track with a two way radio and follow behind, the radio not to be used unless in an emergency. This helps them over come their fears etc, on being alone. Of course the tracks over here are covered in dense bush and one can go for weeks without seeing anyone. you would love it over here Claire especially if you want to be alone. enjoy your videos.
Really respect your vulnerability in your answers and can say I very much relate, the sound of life is a good vibe in contrast to the things we’ve known or see through. Life is life yes, but if we can find that which makes us happy, we should embrace it. So I’m glad you do with the great outdoors, you’re a fine example of human so thankyou and good vibes to yourself from mine 🙏🏻😊
Beautiful area! Nothing like the forest to give us a little peace.
You spoke well, it's the people we need to be aware of unfortunately.
Keep up the amazing work 👍👍
Another great video Claire sharing what you love doing. And it's clear to see that your bushcraft skill set is coming on in leaps and bounds. You should be well chuffed with yourself. Thanks for sharing Claire and as always take care.
Ahh thanks so much Tony, I do love to play with a tarp :D even if I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing haha. Glad you liked it, thank you so much for stopping by & have a lovely week :) Claire
As always, a pleasure to watch Claire. Till the next one ........
I am glad to see you know yourself pretty well from the sounds of it. Very reassuring in today's age. Like you I am also a loaner. Which is why when I was younger I did the solo camping whenever I had free time. It is also why that during this wild virus I have actually enjoyed the past two years of working remotely for the college. Being able to be with my two small dogs going remote work in my hobby room while working on hobbies is great. Would love to see your photography setup. I use to do black and white film. I still have my camera and darkroom supplies. Strictly amateur but have gotten some pics published in the past. Thank you for sharing your videos. I enjoy them very much.
I shared your fear of ticks as well. I am not afraid of falling. I am afraid of hard landings. I share your enjoyment of night sounds of nature. To me it is music. Great video. Thank you.
So nice to see an independent woman doing her thing in the woods. Good on you for empowering others, and yourself. Here in western Canada i have my own favorite spots i go to be alone in the woods. the woods are Very safe compared to cities , and there's nothing like sitting by a fire when the stars are out. I hope you have many years of great experiences camping. Thanks for sharing.
Stumbled across your channel recently and have been binge watching ever since! Had to comment on this video because of what your Q&A portion. You do it for all the same reasons I do.... ask me if I'm religious and I'll tell you no but if I had a church it's on a mountain top in my hammock or tent watching the wild around me. Getting out and in the woods, especially by yourself, is one of the most incredible feelings in the world and I haven't been able to do it at all lately because of personal circumstances this year. Been a rough one so thank you for posting these videos so I can live vicariously thru your adventures!!
That lil smug smile shows a lot stay free 😀
Great attitude, i totally understand the peaceful solitude in a lovely location.
Another great vid mate. Great scenery & great music too. Thank you for sharing a little bit of your life. It was touching indeed. Think we now know how hard was it for mum to be looking after us 3 (angels of course) while growing up. Now it's our turn to look after our parents, even though mum always say we will her babies untill we're 45 yrs old.!! Cheers again matey. Rylie, Nikkei & Nellei.
Nothing like been alone in the outdoors. Love it no matter what the weather aslong as got fire and water and the odd nibble especially around north Wales plenty of caves to hide in, and if camping many a wooded area but as wildbeare says just be careful because of dead fall logs trees etc... Loving your vids.
Makes my day when I see one of these videos, calms me down and is a pleasure to watch! Love the frame building and natural water use. You have helped me realise that just worrying about the basics and going back to nature and just enjoying the peace of it all is so good for the soul.
Ahh yay that's so nice, I'm so glad you like them :) yehh I think it's such a nice lil reset to get back to basics and back to nature 🥰 thank you so much for stopping by and have a lovely week 🌿 Claire
You were spot on about the fear of other bad humans out there! Usually more dangerous than any animal, at least in your location.
Good video!
Thank you for sharing your Q&A , with us . You truly are an amazing young Lady . You have so many rolls in life . Be safe Please .
Thank you so much for sharing. I can relate to what you said. Hate crowds prefer quiet and nature. Great videos.
Ah a photographer, that would explain the quality of your video. Thanks for sharing
Another charming video Claire. A lot of what you said really resonated with what I feel with getting out into nature. Escaping the crowds and being alone and at peace with ones self is very beneficial in dealing with the anxiety modern day life brings. It's helped me tremendously recover from a serious nervous breakdown, and all the issues that goes with it. Thank you to you and a couple of other you tubers for being so inspirational to guide me towards an enjoyable hobby and a positive therapy.
Hi Doug, thank you so much :) yeh it's so good isn't it, these things happen to the best of us and nature can be so healing. Glad you're doing better now 🤗 I agree about the 'positive therapy' thing, like we often can't control when things go wrong in our lives or we aren't feeling ourselves, but we can control where we turn to for respite and healing.. non-destructive is always a win. Thank you so much for watching and have a beautiful weekend :) 🌿 Claire
Just watched this, and you answered all my questions. I think your Amazing and very inspirational. And your smile makes me smile. Thank you.
Hi Claire, you are an inspiration to us all. Iam trying to learn camping skills from you. You are obviously a very outdoors and practical lady!
Hi Marcus! Ahh thanks, this is great :D hope you have the best time out in nature 🥰🌿
Claire I also enjoy my own company and have to recharge my batteries after too much socializing, I do that by getting alone. You are definitely not alone ( no pun intended) in this. A quiet empty beach where I can surf or at least be near the water is my go to place. Unfortunately I live in a vacation resort town and it gets excessively busy with tourists during the spring and summer which I dislike more and more as i get older. My long term plan is to move away to a quiter place and retire there, but I have a ways to go before I reach retirement age. By the way I love your videography, you being a photographer makes sense now, the videos are done very well. Love from Florida 😊- USA
Thanks for sharing this with us, your little QnA was nice. Good to get to know you as an ordinary person with a life apart from what we experience through your posts. Love the music as well.
6:40 I'm exactly the same. I do the long walks for the escape and the sense of freedom. I have a campervan though so I don't use tents. I'm quite introverted and actually find myself getting a little angry if I come across other people in the countryside, which of course all belongs to me ;-).
There's something very soothing about the linear nature of just walking from A to B, - even if A and B are the same place. It's aligned with my general mindset. We get mentally pulled all over the place in our modern lives with all manner of issues to deal with. So to escape from that in a picturesque and peaceful environment is wonderfully therapeutic.
Nice film really enjoyed the Q&A part thanks just that little bit of background really helps to relate. I watch a lot of outdoors/bushcraft contributors but only a select few have I subscribed to, and your channel is one of those that I really look forward to seeing every time the next video pops up in my notifications. Please keep it going and keep enjoying it.
Great Q&A section, I'm sure many of us can relate. Good for you having the strength to pull through and follow your passion. Keep up the great work.
Must be in the name Claire. I feel exactly the same way. Alone and quiet is the best.
Love from an Australian Clare who’s watching all your vids and learning a lot. 😊
Swaying Pines..... beautiful and treacherous too lol always enjoy your videos, Bilbo is lucky to be along with you on your adventures 😁 hope he stays around awhile lol
i love your simplicity look of life again
Great video Claire. Loved the set up and the Q&A.
Wow, I'm impressed. I've been watching regularly for a few months, but only just now subscribed. Your answers to the Q&A were so in line with how I feel while wild camping.
I appreciate you sharing your passion.
Ahh thanks so much 🤗 Tis good for the soul isn't it :) thank you for watching and for the sub, appreciate it :D have a lovely eve 🌿Claire
Enjoyed that Claire thankyou 😊 I totally get what you mean about modern life and a busy mind. I love walking and spending time in nature alone much prefer to crowds any day !
@@susanharvey4235 Same here Susan 😊 thank you so much for watching my lil trip, and have a lovely eve 💚🌿 Claire
Thank you for the Q&A segment. I really enjoyed your openness.
Nice one good to get you know a bit better. Stay safe and enjoy your time in the peace and quiet
Makes my heart warm! Thank you!
Not many people are comfy with there own company, its a gift I think, I love my own company
Looks stunningly beautiful there 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲😍thanks for the video 🙏🏻
I'm a lone wolf too ☀️ the spirits of the trees, flowers, mountains, rivers and oceans are always with you. X
I admire your tenacity Claire! Yes, nature is the great healer. You really spoke to me there as I’m going through some mental health stuff too.
We all need healing, and pushing one’s boundaries is a great way to do it.
Stay strong, stay safe.
Bryan from Vancouver
Hi Bryan, we do indeed, healing hugs for you 🤗 You too & hope you have a lovely week :) 🌿Claire
@@WildBeare Thanks Claire, hugs are needed all around!
I am so glad I found your channel ! And this yet simple video is one of your best (so far). thanks for sharing your time with US.
Good to see a girl doing this....usually guys doing the outdoors stuff.
It's great being at one with nature! So peaceful and carefree...Good on ya girl keep at it x
Very inspirational wildbeare 👍
Awesome vid, as always. Totally clicked with your Q&A. Nothing wrong with being a bit of a recluse or prefering to be alone. if anything it's a great way to get a lot done in a short space of time in many aspects of life with no compromise. MTB, getting out for a camp and hanging in my little redoubt at the end of the garden with some tasty ratatouille or gnocchi in the petromax pot are good enough for me these days. The best thing to come of doing what i enjoy on my own terms for as long as i have is that once i re adjusted to an intentionally low budget lifestyle, said goodbye to pubs and clubs, embraced being alone as oppposed to mistaking it for being lonely and poured that wasted time into my hobbies, the hobbies became more than that and eventually i was able to say goodbye to the 9-5 cycle and enjoy a life not tied to someone elses clock. From experience, being cool in the eyes of other people through posessions and the contrived status tied to them is alright i suppose, but being free is the best. Great stuff. Keep doing what you do :)
Heyy, thank you so much, totally agree with everything you just said here! Very much a difference between being lonely and being alone 💚and like you, I decided a long time ago that I didn't want the 9-5 lifestyle and started turning my hobbies into things I could do for a living, on my own terms, doing things I love.. and that deffo feels a lot like freedom to me :D That's not to say it's easy, it's hard graft, and scary sometimes (especially being the sole income for my son and I) and I still have a ways to go, but it's worth it. Thank you so much for stopping by and wishing you a beautiful weekend :) 🌿Claire
Very Nice Video Claire, To many people let there lives be Steered By Fear. Facing it head out is the only true way to grow as a person, not to Mention how much your learn about yourself while doing it! It is truly a freeing experience!
Loved the question and answer section really did allow us to see your real self
You seem such a gentle soul and hearing you say about healing and bad humans makes me feel for you! Sending love and love your vids
That was good to learn a lil bit about you. Thanks for sharing your experiences.
Another goodie thank you....still looking fresh outside....🥶...many years ago I bought a Conway Corniche trailer tent...we did everywhere in the UK with it...packed all the time and ready to go for every weekend...brilliant thing....
Towing anything in Spain is ..ummmm...difficult..but worth it..
Keep swimming you will be fine👌
Superb video Claire I also love the fact that walking and camping takes me away from the hussle and bustle of day to day life where I am pressured to work to deadlines and budgets and have to rely on others to get things done, my life as a Husband and father of three is super busy so when I get out for a camp once a month it is kind of my way to recharge my social battery and give my brain a factory reset.
Have an awesome weekend 👍🍻
Heyyy aw thank you, wow you must be super busy! As a mum-of-one I am always in awe of parents with multiple children 😄yeh it's a very welcome break isn't it. Hope you have a wonderful weekend too! 🤗🌿 Claire
@@WildBeare I honestly don’t know how Lucie copes while I’m working away, like next month I will be gone for an entire month and she is doing University, work, and three kids.. she is wonder woman
at the age of 11 started working on a farm where much of the time you spent working on your own,so i have never really been a people type person and like yourself, i feel safer out in the wild than in towns or cities. when i was a kid i spent so much time in the woods learned what all the sounds and smells were.living in a village in the countryside has been a great way of life. i have learned a lot about nature, animal tracks and signs, i can name most birds i see and hear and know what there eggs and nest look like. being outside on your own you will see so much more. there is nothing better than waking up in the morning in the woods opening your eyes to see a deer looking back at you. im now in my fiftys and still going out in the woods its a great way to get away from the pressures of life and relax. another great video claire thanks for sharing it with us.
Well what can one say, as for rambling on about how you feel, it was an excellent ramble & that comes from someone who loves to be alone, out & about away from the modern way of life which seems to be constant noise & me, me, me culture. Give me a small wooden shack in the woods or on the coast near the sea
or as I have recently been thinking a canal boat in the middle of nowhere. Hope you don't get to wet on your next adventure, Enjoy, stay safe 😌
Listening to you is like i am listening to myself. Nature wins with people by KO.
thank you for your honesty with us
q&a was great..your shelter was great..scenery was great..another great video thx
Nice there. Thanks for showing us. Take care.
Totally agree with your thoughts on being out in the bush by yourself. It is healing and as you said, your priorities are so much more primitive and straight forward. All the complexities of life are washed away. Thanks for posting.
Last 5 seconds freaked me out! 😱
Made me jump and I felt a bump to my head!🤕
😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wanted to reach out for a moment to say thanks. I enjoy your straight forward approach to pitches etc. As you share you remind me of when I was your age and doing the same. That was pre cellphones internet like ancient times. Your channel and style are inspiring and as I approach level 70 I've been like the Borg hiker assimilating gear and insights like yourself. Pretty soon I'll be geared up and then start saving for my first pitch in many years. Cheers
I watch over a dozen bush crafters and you are the only one that anchors their angled tripods in a divot in the ground. You're brilliant! You did it in another video and I tried it and it makes the shelter soooo much more sturdy. You've moved up my list. Thank you for teaching. Be safe and watch out for falling trees. Ha! 🌲 🌹 Respect from Florida! 🤗
great smile...always a joy to watch your videos
Hi, first of all thank you for your videos, love coming along on your adventures :) I just want to say a few things on lyme disease for you or anyone else that may have concerns. I have late stage lyme disease myself, and have some advice which I've acquired over the years. Prevention is, of course, the most important step; Knowing where they like to reside, how they attach themselves to you. Permethrin is supposed to be very effective for repelling ticks. The following steps are very important. 1. Learn how to properly remove them. 2. Do not discard it. Save it to be tested by your local lab for lyme and other co-infections (Many doctors will insist this is either not possible or not necessary, but it is, I have done it). 3. See a doctor about possibly getting tested and/or on antibiotics. If treated within 4 weeks, lyme disease can be eliminated. Unfortunately, most doctors do not recognize lyme disease, so you may have to be persistent. It serious, but very preventable. So please be mindful, arm yourself with the right knowledge, and get out there and have fun!
You are a lovely person i hope you never meet a bad person enjoy what you do thanks for the video
Nice music 🎵 Clair I really enjoyed the Q&A I think you answered a lot of questions for all of us there’s a 100% inner peace and self believe after doing a camp on your own nature always gives back all the best
I grew up in a very small country town and now live in the city. I miss the relaxed lifestyle where no one is in a rush, the clean air, the peace and quiet, and the sky full of stars. City life is way too fast, noisy and crowded. I totally share your desire to get away and enjoy nature, it's very healing and a great way to untangle the mind. Great video Claire, thank you!
My family love watching your videos
Wow, watching your videos I'd wondered about answers you just gave, plus few more questions. Your allowed to have your own life even though you "gift" the viewers with your adventures and shear pleasure watching because your fun, interesting, teaching from perspective your not a know it all, quite humble. Thank you for letting this viewer enjoy UK and your adventures
Cant beat Claire, she saw she conquers😁👍❤️
The crash at the end. Haha that was funny.
I always get a lot of peace from watching your videos.
What a bright , cheerful , adventurous young lady you are Claire and your videos are such a joy to watch . Take care and be happy .
Ahh thank you so much John :) Hope you're having a lovely week! 🌿Claire
Also wondered if you were alone but only because of the videography. You get some amazing shots for being solo. I imagine it takes a LOT of work! Great videos!
I really admire you ❤️
Keep on keeping on...
Your awesome.
PS you have the most beautiful eyes & amazing smile, you radiate such a calming peaceful vibe that is soothing and comfortable to me. Your connection with the great outdoors is awesome. You are inspiring...
Thank you. I can't describe the happiness I feel when watching your channel...
Claire I was starting to worry because I had not seen any videos from you in a while. Glad you're back!! You amaze me with how many shelters you can make with just a tarp and some sticks, You should start a site specializing in camp/survival shelters. You're my hero. Luv Jim
I really like the trap set up you used. Beautifully done!
Absolutely love watching your videos. I used to enjoy being out and about in nature before my accident so watching your adventure’s warm my heart. So looking forward to watching your future adventures and your amazing wonderful channel go from strength to strength. Sending love and prayers 🙏🤗♿️
Your reasons for being outdoorsy resonate hugely. Videos like yours really give me (and I'm sure others) the courage to give wild camping a shot. And, your combo of 50/50 yolo/planning style really appeals to me. I've only just started watching your channel but I'm a fan already! Love the music choices too!
Well done girl, your attitude is bang on and you obviously have big cahunas to be out alone enjoying nature and sadly you are right about being safer out in the wilds than in a town or city. Enjoy your freedom
You have a good heart Claire and are probably an 'old' soul'. I wish more people had the same outlook on life as you do. I'm in my 60's and love wild camping. Watching your videos gives me a similar sense of being at peace with nature, when I'm not out there myself. Bless you - and thanks for sharing your videos.
Hi Pedro, aw thanks, it's a really lovely hobby we have isn't it :) thank you so much for watching my lil trips and wishing you a wonderful weekend 🤗🌿 Claire
Loved the video Claire, it was nice to get a small insight into your personal life. 😃
