I'm really enjoying creating this style of video and never in my wildest dreams expected it to do so well. Are there any other topics related to content creation you want me to talk about?
I'm loving the raw content; I've just started my channel based on listening to your content. I had been contemplating what I wanted to do and found my own little niche. My channel mixes, my media arts and animation background with my current field computer science. Thanks, and peace.

Hey James, love your videos. I feel most of us struggle with putting ourselves out there for the first time. Thats why 'just start' video did so well. Would love to see more videos about how to get that first video published. Cheers.

Cooking, Designing, Woodwork, Writing, Exercise, Suduko, Gaming, Streaming, Content Creation, Haircutting, Make-up, Painting, Driving, Running, DJing, Speaking a new language, Moving to a new city, Kayaking, anything. Understand the privilege of getting to do those things. And enjoy doing them. Because if you enjoy it, you will keep doing it. And if you keep doing it, you will get better. Peace brother ✌
I discovered your channel through the "just start" video a week ago, and this video proved to me that i did the right decision by subscribing to you. Thanks a lot for the video, so relatable.
Bro, thank you so much. Those hints are definitely the right push I need and want, as I became more of a consumer than a creator. I have millions of ideas, concepts and strategies, yet only some get put to practise and become alive. Getting lost on the path of life. So right now, I'm actually on my way back to balance and focus right now. Creating more, focusing on key elements and passions. Like Shia Labeouf said :Just Do It! :-) Keep up the amazing work you do and share with us here Ben.
Man, you nailed it! I stopped for 2 years! 2 years! and I fealt stuck and unable to make new videos, I had everything! Ideas, best of items lights everything but I felt like stuck!
Yeah it's hard because YouTub is percieved to be so much higher effort than the short form platforms but I still think you can have a lot of success with low effort that's focused on the right topics.
Thanks for this. I can relate to the desire to do two types of content - well produced and high effort and thoughtful low effort videos. I think it is a balance between wanting to actually be more creative and learn/ practice creative skills, and also just get a video out.
What makes me sad ... I have to build a video purely around a thumbnail and title to even stand a chance. Instead of complex interesting topics that can't be summed up in a picture or minimal characters.
You make a picture that makes you want to look at the title. You make a title that makes you want to look at the video. You wouldn’t want to express all your complex ideas in a thumbnail.
Jimmy said that his videos are based around the thumbnail and title first. Yeah, it's always good to have that and I'm making a script around the title, but I always make the title first, then before I get to work, I question if I have a valid and interesting story that relates to my content.
Thank you for your advice. I posted my very first video a few days ago. I must say it feels very liberating. im still learning and trying to find my craft but i saw someone encourage us over 40 years to get the Camera and get started. and thats what i did. planning to post another one soon and start building my audience. Thank you so much for this. i continue to get more inspired
Your message really resonated with me. It’s so easy to get caught up in trying to make everything flawless that we end up not starting at all. Your perspective is not only refreshing but incredibly motivating. Thanks for pushing us to take action and embrace the learning process. Keep the great content coming!🙏🙏
the others either just thinking about how to gather leads in their description links using some guide or trying to sell something using their affiliate links, you can easily tell that from seeing how they're giving value in exchange.. it's very rare to see someone giving value just to give value, of course one will have money from youtube but the other ways in plus it's correct that they pay but the biggest emotional connection with people is what really pays alot after, building it is just amazing. i will be glad to join your newsletter.

Exactly how I’m feeling right now. I get so stressed about it be perfect I never even take the first step. The last week I’ve been really focusing on just taking action and noticed once I start just taking action it feels really good.
Just what I needed to hear. Thank you for being so transparent and for sharing your journey in this way, very inspiring! Hope this channel really takes off, you truly deserve it. Much love brother
1:18 Yes, man! This happens to me too. Exactly as you just described. I'm here from Brazil, city of Salvador in the state of Bahia. I think we need to watch less and act more... anyway...
I think we all need to hear this message. I like the high effort/low effort approach, because I think non scrip stuff can be more personable, especially in my field of spiritual life coaching/mindfulness etc. So, if I think I have to script, it takes a bit more set up to do that and more concentration rather than just being personable and talking to someone.
Thanks Ben! Found you on here and TikTok recently, and your content is so motivating and helpful. I've been guilty of exactly that - content consumption - instead of actually starting to create. It's happening.
I love UA-cam more than any other platform, it's clearly the place that changes lives, where anyone can become anything they want with a little hard work. I need to find the time to get involved here, so thanks for your video, which has made me want to get serious!
I started just a few weeks ago after years of thinking I had to do more. I used to writ blogs pre UA-cam, to be honest, pre social media. I do my videos the same way - dump my brain. Funny thing is, I am now seeing tons of videos about doing just that. And so far, thumbnails are my kryptonite
Feels like we're in the same boat. I end up with so much braingfog sometimes that it leads to me even questioning my niche. I upload shorts very consistently (almost too much) but it feels like i'm barely doing anything. I hate the feeling of being lost and this video helped me. I think need to stop thinking it through and just upload more long forms, is it normal to stray away from my niche a bit for the sake of getting content out? thanks man. Just struggling a lot lately and i know this is what i want to do so it hurts when i feel i don't have the creativity for it all. I appreciate you!!!
Just start. I feel like the new wave of creators with under-edited & under-polished is in reaction to the corporatization of the OG creators who now have tons of money and make repetitive slop. The ones who sell you UA-cam courses, for example.

It’s SO hard not to get caught up in everything with UA-cam advice channels. I panicked about all this UA-cam helping new channels thing. As I started mine over 7 years ago but didn’t have the time to put in. So that’s made me start a brand new channel last week and just moving my videos across along with my new videos. No idea if I’ve done the right thing 🤦🏻♂️ But I’ve always done my videos minimal edit as I think it’s helps to come across more genuine You. As opposed to trying to look like all the other UA-camrs, Gary Vee said it best with “you are the niche”
hi ben. i found out that i'm watching every video that you made and i'm watching it until the end which is fascinating to me bcz it never happened to me before. maybe bcz you're very straight forward without many big words and your videos are short and you're talking very actual instead alot of theory. anyway, i want to thnk u bcz you're very down to earth and u speak in a very honest way (i could see the emotions even behind the screen) and i'm definetly feeling this way. i bet that u didn't read my mind but you were in my foot so you know how is that feel. thnx a lot❤❤❤❤
I have a different very similar problem. I am a "3rd part creator". I started creating content for friends & family and grew some great accounts. Then I ended up getting payed for it and even create content for businesses and have my own clients. I said I would start creating my content a year ago and I still haven't. I feel such a coward because I am constantly pushing my clients to create content for their businesses and I am not doing it...
Oh yes, I relate to this. So many ideas. So many things to learn. I feel like I get overwhelmed by own ADHD brain. I'm trying a high content month right now with some of the same strategy of some easy content and some more edited. Letting myself trying any and everything I feel like. The way I'm giving myself some idea structure is by having different segment types on different days.
I give advice about how to deal with toxic parents from inside my own toxic house, i need your support guys and the videos will really help you check them out, thanks :)
What a wonderful video! You are nailing it completely! All these feelings going all over the place. Phew. Thank you so much for this awesome information!🙏🏻🎊☀️💜
Ben I have downloaded so many of your videos and have learnt so much thank you!!! For creating and sharing so much of your knowledge. So appreciated. I’ve finally decided to go freelance I’ll send you my website when I launch
My problem is not knowing which niche to take as a creator. I have far too many business ideas. I'm a gamer, investor and health & fitness enjoyer. It's a lot of work to have 3 different channels for each of those topics because you can't combine them due to niche.
Do what I did, there is an interesting Term called a Polymath. Look it up it's really interesting. It basically is a person with a wide range of skills. So what I did was not to niche down but he a generalist UA-cam channel. I am experimenting a lot. My first Polymath video is under production. If you find it interesting then you can start the same way. Let's trade subs. Be in touch.
This is a great idea. I've been recording and editing videos for MONTHS and not uploading them. I wanted to create a huge backlog, because I was afraid of not being consistent. With this idea of 50\50 High effort - Low effort, it gives me courage that I can keep uploading consistently. I've decided to upload my first video tomorrow. I think you need to just go for it. I also use to do something similar with a fear of not being able to keep up with consistency but it's not really sustainable that way because you're always gonna run out of videos at some point unless you're consistent.
Hi Ben! I love what you're doing and new subscriber here! By the way, I help content creators to increase their online presence through video editing and enhancing their post and reels for better engagement and audience retention, which is why I'm tuning into your vlog and learning a lot. Hi Ben, your video came up as I was doing the very thing you spoke about….. I was smiling as you spoke because that is me all over 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I “research” but deep down I know I am procrastinating 🫣 Thanks so much for the motivation and tips 🙏🏾
How do you pick an area of what you focus will be for content creation. Like for me as a 43M. I love technology as a whole, FPS games, star citizen and sports. I enjoy podcast like Joe Rogan and content creators like Level Cap and BigFry. I love wine and craft beers.
it's actually just last night that I watched a Moistcritikal video and realized.. his videos are so bare yet he gets so much views with barely any edits or any at all. he's a really good speaker though but it show's videos like that can work.
I started 3 weeks ago. It is low effort - talking head only. I had to get over the idea that I needed to know everything before publishing my first video. I still have a lot to learn. Is it any good? Only time will tell.
Well oh well....I've been having so much fun filming and coming up with ideas....that I'm laughing and enjoying....but ..then I don't bother actually finishing the video. No one really watches my channel and I'm just making videos to say hello to UA-cam friends. So I just don't post them. ( They aren't all that good....). My Monday resolution will be to post another disasterpiece....it will clear up computer storage if nothing else. tHanks for the video
You should edit your audio. It's not very loud. Had to turn it up almost all the way just to hear it. There are moments when the audio is very punchy and bass heavy that's very distracting. Like when you pronounce your p's.
@@11HEKA11 it's not my end. Some ppl listen to videos using higher end audio that picks up on bass and other things that a phone, TV, or computer don't.
Nice. Most if the flash thumbnails are so obviously clickbait I just can't be bothered watching. I am drawn to whether the title addresses my need: what am I looking for.
Being 💩💩💩 is my Mojo Do your best it’s gonna be 💩anyway cos I am a beginner but f***yeah I learned so much in 2 years even with only 200 followers mostly being my fam and friends 😂 thanks for sharing mate ! Keep it up

Your filming set up, I really like your lighting. Do you speak freestyle or do you have a script on a screen, or somewhere in between?
To the person who reads this, you will be a great UA-camr
I love you
Thank you! I will try!
Thanks a lot, same to you 🙏🏻🫶🏻😀

Analysis Paralysis - Glad to know it's not only myself who is struggling with this! Thanks for sharing mate.
I've been struggling with it for a long time, firstly through my short-form content which is now ok but long form I still over analyse everything.
@@BenKaluza well, you've inspired me to go and create something today! Cheers
@@vikasmalik3899 haha nice I'm glad. If it helps, I literally planned, filmed and edited everything on this video this morning in like 2 hours.
I struggle with this so much! I only have 3 videos so far (less than a week old) and I overthink way too much. This video helped me!
This is soooo me. So now I am thinking if this would work: Create. Analyze. Learn. Correct. Create the next one...all in a week.
Would that help.
I've been bouncing between excuses not to start UA-cam for a while, videos like this are what inspired me to finally start.

You make a picture that makes you want to look at the title. You make a title that makes you want to look at the video. You wouldn’t want to express all your complex ideas in a thumbnail.
Think of your limitations as a challenge not a road block. Work around them instead of running away from them
Jimmy said that his videos are based around the thumbnail and title first. Yeah, it's always good to have that and I'm making a script around the title, but I always make the title first, then before I get to work, I question if I have a valid and interesting story that relates to my content.
Yep so very true 👍
You create the thumbnail after making the video. Not the other way round. It just has to make the viewer want to watch the video.
Yeah this is a good one. Wanting the video to be peferct is an excuse people use not to do things.
People just overplan too much because if you overplan it means you spend longer planning and not doing the actual thing.
Exactly 👍
Definitely guilty of that. I'm trying to be ok doing low-effort videos...break through the perfectionism.

New subscriber, problem is I'm gonna have to watch all your videos before I start 😅
This video is the dopamine hit I needed 😂 Back to writing I go ✍️
I don’t struggle. I just do it.
God dammit Ben, you're making me want to pick up the camera and continue creating now 🤔
Yeah better get up and start creating then haha
How do you pick an area of what you focus will be for content creation. Like for me as a 43M. I love technology as a whole, FPS games, star citizen and sports. I enjoy podcast like Joe Rogan and content creators like Level Cap and BigFry. I love wine and craft beers.
I’m just about to starting this video was much needed like mrbeast said make 100 videos and improve every time.
it's actually just last night that I watched a Moistcritikal video and realized.. his videos are so bare yet he gets so much views with barely any edits or any at all. he's a really good speaker though but it show's videos like that can work.
I am creating shit right now but after 1 year I know I will be better I am sure.
create more than you consume 😊
I started 3 weeks ago. It is low effort - talking head only. I had to get over the idea that I needed to know everything before publishing my first video. I still have a lot to learn. Is it any good? Only time will tell.
I’m tired and depressed
No matter how I want to make videos it doesn’t work
I have watched every video about how to start, but haven’t.
You better start tomorrow then
Well oh well....I've been having so much fun filming and coming up with ideas....that I'm laughing and enjoying....but
..then I don't bother actually finishing the video. No one really watches my channel and I'm just making videos to say hello to UA-cam friends. So I just don't post them. ( They aren't all that good....).
My Monday resolution will be to post another disasterpiece....it will clear up computer storage if nothing else. tHanks for the video
Intentionally no effect in the video? and just music?
You should edit your audio. It's not very loud. Had to turn it up almost all the way just to hear it. There are moments when the audio is very punchy and bass heavy that's very distracting. Like when you pronounce your p's.
Sounds fine on my device, maybe your end
@@11HEKA11 it's not my end. Some ppl listen to videos using higher end audio that picks up on bass and other things that a phone, TV, or computer don't.
Nice. Most if the flash thumbnails are so obviously clickbait I just can't be bothered watching. I am drawn to whether the title addresses my need: what am I looking for.
I put 8h of work and I get 0 views. But somehow I still feel good because I did it 😂
So Dramatic 😂 i like it 🎉
Great 👍👍
Exactly, we are all the same then lmao
how make these background/ambience like type vidoes like these you are making? I want to make like these...
Being 💩💩💩 is my Mojo
