If you want to see how good Triumph is, check out their live performance at the US festival. Phenomenal.
I 100% agree!!!
I stumbled on to the US fest on Tubi and you are right. They only play two or three songs but yeah I gained a new respect for them.
Rik Emmett, underrated guitarist, fantastic singer with incredible range.
Rick Emmitt is a solid vocalist and amazing guitarist. More Triumph:
"Magic Power"
"Fight The Good Fight"
"Never Surrender"
"Follow Your Heart" (drummer on lead vocals)
"Solid" vocalist? I'd say he's an amazing vocalist and amazing guitarist. I challenge anyone to name someone who is a better combo of vocalist and guitarist. He may not be the greatest in each, but as a combo, NO ONE is better.
Double-neck guitars serve a double purpose. It was all the thing for awhile and it showed that you had arrived and it's kind of a stylistic thing but from a functional point of view as a musician, you know if you really want to combine multiple different guitars from a single player during a live performance, it's either switch him out mid-song or just have both of them built into the same guitar that you can switch between. So typically they're going to be serving two very different purposes. It just allows the guitar player to switch back and forth as necessary.
Typically, as in this case, one of the necks is a 12-string and the other is standard.
Triumph has a string of bangers for you to check out.
""magic power", "Fight the good fight", "follow your heart", "somebody's out there" and my personal favorite "Empty inside".
🤘😎
They are a Canadian band formed in Toronto in 1975. They won many awards in Canada but probably didn’t get the same amount of radio airplay in the US.
Amazing band saw them live mid 80's and Rik's vocals and guitar were mindblowing.
Triumph never disappoints they are legendary Live saw them several times back in the day Rik Emett is a multi national treasure
When your son is blown away what his Dad lived trough in is life... Music will bring us all togtrher. So happy Father and son are rockin'
Love Triumph! Rik Emmett with his amazing and beautiful voice. Incredibly gifted guitarist too.
Great reaction guys.
Check out Fight the Good Fight at US Festival.
Rick Emmet's double neck guitar has a 12 string on top and six string on the bottom. The different tunings allow him to play different parts of the song without switching guitars.
Six string on the bottom and 12 string on the top . Triumph was phenomenal in The 80's' where were you, Dad??!!
Watching you two jamming out is like watching twins ✌️
Double neck guitars have a 12 string guitar on one neck, and a 6 string guitar on the other neck. Heart used to use them a lot during the early days, as did Styx and Rush
Don't forget Jimmy Page
I wore out Allied Forces cassette tape - my second favorite band from Canada after RUSH of course. Rik is amazing live too - saw them open for Journey at the Rose Bowl
You guys are so perfect for this!! I love it!!
" hold on" and " magic power" are a must also
I saw Triumph live in '82 and the other great Canadian trio from that era, Rush in '81 and '82. Both bands were excellent live and sounded as good as studio recordings. Rik's abilities are very impressive, as are drummer Gil Moore who also sings lead on some songs while keeping beat and Mike Levine with his bass and background vocals. Rush's three members are obviously elite at all positions, but the fact that Geddy handles keyboards, vocals and bass (with the foot pedal)all at the same time is crazy impressive.
The double neck guitar is a 12 string top and a 6 string bottom. Love the channel, great reaction. Thank you!
I can’t hear this song enough! 🎤🎸🥁
If you’re going to dive deeper, you should give each of these a listen:
* “Somebody’s Out There” (biggest hit)
* “Fight the Good Fight”
* “Hold On”
* “Magic Power”
* “Tears in the Rain”
* “A World of Fantasy”
* “Follow Your Heart”
* “Rocky Mountain Way” (Joe Walsh cover)
* “Rock and Roll Machine”
…but I recommend that you not stop there. There are numerous obscure but worthwhile songs in the band’s catalog. “Time Canon” is my favorite among those.
Wow, Great Video, I was at this concert, recorded at the (Metro Center) Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada!!
I saw them in concert in 1983. Reunion arena, Foghat was the opening act. Rik Emmett and the band were amazing.
Another Great Canadian Trio Band
I feel these lyrics because I've dated guys that couldn't make up their mind if they wanted me or to be in a relationship going back and forth and I would tell them, Just make up your damn mind if you want to be with me or not. Stop wasting my time because I don't have time for that. That is basically what the song is about.
Their best known song is Magic power, but they have a great catalog of great music
Saw them in the 70’s and early 80’s many times. Local band that were show takers at the US festival… look that concert up!
Hey Silas, I love your reactions to the 2 best bands forever! Boston and Triumph, will never be duplacated!!!
So cool to see you rocking out with your dad.Bless you both.✌️
Check out Fight the Good Fight at 83 US Festival. More Rik singing more guitar solos, more crowd. Also top is 12 string, bottom is 6 string.
Great choice Silas! Triumph is an awesome Canadian band. You should check out another Canadian band Frank Marino and Mahagony Rush Something's Coming Our Way Live At Agora Theater, amazing performance from an underrated and underappreciated guitarist 🎸 ✌️ ☮️ 🎵🎶🇺🇸
Most underrated guitarist ever maybe.
@Veggamattic Definitely one of the GOAT!
Written by and sung by Rik Emmett.
Rush is the most famous band from Metro Toronto. Triumph is 2nd. They know each other and are friends.
Suggested video 📹: Triumph performs Magic Power 🔋
I agree that you need to see them live from the US Festival in 1983 - any song
Your Dad is super chill! The best 3 man band in all of North America, besides Boston! They're from Canada!
the lower guitar is a 6 sting and the upper is a 12 string guitar. They are very heavy and it's amazing how he runs around with it so much. Maybe the best band most never heard of and he may be the best lead guitar lead singers ever.
This has been one my faves since I was young
Triumph " Hold On " is my fav!
These guys rock best three man band from Canada ever
A World of Fantasy is my favorite Triumph song.
The upper neck on his guitar is a 12 string.
It has 6 courses of 2 strings on each course (so instead of one low E string, you have two strings close to each other, much like a mandolin). The top 4 (lower pitched) courses are tuned in octaves, so in the low E course one string is standard low E and the other is E an octave higher. The two bottom courses (highest pitch) are tuned in unison.
A 12-string has a fuller, more ringing tone that is rather distinctive and cool.
On a double neck guitar the top neck is a 12-string while the bottom neck is 6-string. A 12-string is usually for strumming acoustic sounding songs. You usually won't play distorted barre chords on the 12-string neck because it doesn't sound very good to the ears. Although tastes are changing and I'm sure one day someone will do it anyway.
The top neck of the guitar is a 12 string, the bottom is a regular six string.
Try other great Triumph songs - Magic Power, Fight The Good Fight, Hold On!!!!
@pollynicklas5220 Allied Forces was a great album!
Hold on is a great song too. Love it! ❤
This is one of my favorite songs!
saw them many times, theyre so great live.. his vocals are amazing... listen to more, you wont be disappointed
TRIUMPH, Solid !!
That double-neck is a six string on the bottom and a 12 string on the top. Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin also plays one. Triumph, King's X and Rush are some of the best rock trios of all time. You need to react to King's X.
I'm not sure if anyone has answered the question about the dual-neck guitar, but one is a 12-string and the other is a six-string, and they are played just like if they were seperate.
Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick either owns or used to own a 5-neck guitar (you can catch a couple of glimpses of it in Cheap Trick's video to _The Flame_.)
12 string guitar on top, 6 string on the bottom, and the man's name is Rik Emmett
Ric Emmett is the guitarist and singing. Live at the US festival is a great listen.
The double neck guitar is a 12 string and a 6 string. RICK Neilson from Cheap Trick has a 5 nicked guitar.
Next explore some April Wine for another great Canuck bank 😊 .. Roller, I like to Rock for a start 😊
Top neck of guitar is a 12 string bottom is a 6 six string
That made me feel so nostalgic. I hadn’t heard that piece for a long time.
Great review!!!!
Minus the old guy, that was great!! 💥
I honestly had to put Journey on the back burner, but this is music!
Keep Fighting the Good Fight.
the top guitar is a 12 string. the bottom one is a standard 6 string.
Bottom is a six string, the top is a twelve string, they were a gimmic back inthe 70's and 80's... Even Rick said so!!
Great reaction! You will like "Fight the Good Fight" (live), guaranteed.........
Double necks are generally a 12 string, and 6 string. They are pretty heavy.
Nice to see a new generation gets thanks dad cheers
Six string on the bottom, 12 string on top. Double neck guitar.
Personally I think the best version is the live US festival performance.
Re: the double-neck guitar...
If you look closer, you'll see that the upper neck is a 12-string.
the double neck guitar that you see in this video has a 12-string guitar on top and a 6-string on the bottom, which is pretty typical. the 12-string is the guitar that you hear prominently in the beginning. it has a more acoustic-like guitar sound. the 6-string is typically used with more distorted and aggressive guitar tones.
12 strings on the top neck 6 strings on the bottom neck
that is a beautiful gibson sg .
Watch the live version.
That is called a double neck guitar the top neck has 12 strings the bottom neck has 6 strings 🎸
The bottom guitar is a six-string, and the top is a 12-string.
Band was awesome band!
Is it just me or does the lead singer (Rik Emmett) look like a young Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys, without the glasses of course :)
DOUBLE NECK
They have plenty of great songs!
This song is okay but Fight the Good Fight, Rock & Roll Machine and Magic Power are the 3 biggies. You HAVE to watch the US Festival version of Rock & Roll Machine ...insane guitar solo is an all time concert classic. 1/4 million fans.
The double neck is just a 6 string and a 12 string. Jimmy Page made it famous because he used one for playing Stairway.
Listen to “Takes Time”
They were such a great band but didn't get the recognition they should have. They should have been a lot popular like other bands but for some reason they weren't. They were just as amazing as bands like Rush. Great reaction.
Silas tell your dad he has to listen to Triumph’s album Fight The Good Fight. He will thank me I promise you 🙂
Which is Rik Emmett better at? Singing or guitar?
Yes.
Double neck. Top neck is a 12 string and bottom is a 6 string.
What I wanna know is what make is that double neck? The body shape looks like a Yamaha Revstar but the logo looks like a full actual word, not the typical triple tuning fork symbol. Is it an LP DC copy? Cuz that's not even an Epiphone headstock.
I want to answer your question but I forgot the answer. However, Mr. Emmett answers your question in another video elsewhere on UA-cam.
Another group from Canada they are a three man band
If you want a ripping Triumph tune, try Nature's Child. Or I Live for the Weekend. Or Woman in Love. Or New York City Streets Part 2. Or Takes Time. Or... They have a TON of them. Nobody put on a better show than Triumph.
a great van heavily influenced by Led Z. om Top is a 12 string and bottom is a 6 string.
Too many great songs by Triumph to list, but if i had to pick one to see reaction to I'd probably go with Just A Game, or maybe Suitcase Blues, then again there's Young Enough To Cry, Allied Forces is a great song
One neck is a 6 string and the other is a 12 string. 2 guitars in one...
Your Dad is an old rocker,lol.
Oh Canada !..........................yes bye !
How old is your dad? Never heard this music? Hmmm
My very first concert at 16 was killer show and they were incredible and sounded just as good or better than this.
Y’all look just alike,lol.A chip off the ole block.
Not their biggest song
Another 3 piece Canadian band........
Your fathers attempt to lip sync the songs is distracting... sorry dad.
