    I'm new to epoxy cup- making and can't wait to try the pens. Great video! What size dowel rods do you need that fit inside the pens?

    I really like your pens! They turned out great! Those "pliers" are actually called end-nips. They are like side cutters, but it's at the end. And I like how you used a rotary tool to grind down the clip nub, but use a sanding block or sand paper (around 120 grit) for the rest of the pen. Soooo much faster and easier.

  • @jenchanwoo
    @jenchanwoo 3 роки тому

    I didn't catch if you sanded them ever- if not, would it have made a difference if you did? I've made like 5 cups, total, so I'm very new to this, but the pens look very easy! I am excited to try. Thank you for the detailed video!!

    I have a genuine question. What is the purpose of spray paintint the pen if you cover it with glitter? I've seen this done for tumblers and have always wondered if there was a reason to spray paint even though you are covering the entire item in glitter. I really would like to know! Thanks!

    You do a great job explaining in your video. I do have a question though. How are you putting the epoxy on the end of the pen with the clicker without it filling in the hole? Also, when you clean up your pen, are you sanding the bottom of the pen before screwing on the cap?

    • @CreativelyErica
      @CreativelyErica  3 роки тому

      I took apart the whole pen so the clicker wasn't on when applying the epoxy, you just have to be careful when putting it on not get too much on the ends otherwise they will get filled with epoxy. I just buffed the end up with a sanding block when I was cleaning up before putting the cap back on.

      You can absolutely buy one of those cheaper single cup turners at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or Amazon and use that. I think I've seen them for less than $35, Hobby Lobby actually has an attachment made for the pens to do on turners, maybe I'll get it and do another video to show ya. ♥️

      Hey! Thank you!! Probably 10 minutes. Start to finish (not including the wait time between the coats of epoxy of course) I'd say they take 30-45 minutes total.

    What is the purpose of the rotating of the pens? Great video! Now I feel like I can try to make them.

    • @CreativelyErica
      @CreativelyErica  3 роки тому +1

      Great question! So when you put epoxy on something cylinder shaped, it needs to be rotating while it's curing so that it's smooth and even all the way around. Same thing if you see any tumbler videos where they've coated it in epoxy, they're on turners that rotate the whole time they're curing. Hope this helped. Now go make em and come back to let us know how they turn out 😁

    First of all I love them. I didn't see you sanding them before drawing the pen. I have seen ppl sanding after putting 2 layers of epoxy, is it necessary? I don't even know which method to do. Question can I put the glitter with mod podge and finished with epoxy? Thanks in advance.

    • @CreativelyErica
      @CreativelyErica  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks! If the pens are smooth you can skip sanding. I only sand when necessary (bumps, roughness, etc). I'm sure you could use mod podge and finish with epoxy without any issues.

    Do you have to rotate them?? I dont have a turner but id like to try this

    • @CreativelyErica
      @CreativelyErica  3 роки тому +2

      As far as I know, you need a turner. The epoxy will cone out all lumpy and uneven if it's not rotated while curing. Although, you might be able to use UV resin as a top coat (it cures within minutes under a UV light). Or if you're interested in a turner Hobby Lobby and Michaels both sell a single turner for $30-40 that's great for beginners and might be perfect for ya.

      Technically no. If the base color looks okay through the glitter, you're good. Or if you're putting on so much glitter that you won't be able to tell then that's fine too.
