Worth mentioning last 2 or 3 times wba lost in the play offs the year after we got automatic promotion
Just found this out 👀
Leeds won title after losing in playoffs last time just saying😉
In 2019, Leeds lost to Derby in the semifinals of the playoffs. In 2020, they were champions with 93points, 10 points clear of second place WBA.
Can't say until after the window closes but as a Leeds fan I'm expecting Summerville and Gnonto to go, which isn't as big of an issue as you might think, if we bolster other areas it's all fine.
Don't forget Farke inherited a shambles of a squad and still got 90 points (no pre-season etc). He was weeks behind Leicester and Ipswich and still made a very good fist of it. I expect them to gain promotion the 2nd time of asking. (Bielsa took 2 seasons too!). Will you still do a Championship roundup now you have gained the lofty heights of the Prem lol?
Weird stat, every time West Brom have played in the playoffs they've lost but gone up automatically the following season. 2001 lost vs Bolton. Automatic in 2002. 2007 lost vs Derby. Automatic in 2008. 2019 lost vs. Villa. Automatic in 2020. 2024 lost vs Southampton. 2025???
Every time?!?! 🤯
Every time, well certainly in the modern era. I'll be honest I haven't gone back through the centuries. 😅
@@HamzaDarby well, the play-offs only started in 1986/87 so your list is a complete one!
correction: if you clarify tjat you meant _second tier_ play-offs then yes it's true & complete, as in 92/93 you won the League Division Two play-offs in your first experience of them.
92/93 being the year the prem broke away so div two became the third tier, so you went up to div 1 for 93/94 into the second tier. well, you'd got relegated from div 2 at the end of 90/91 then were in div 3 in 91/92 in the last season it was still the 3rd tier, so for your play-off win the following year i should've said div 3 was renamed, or as Wiki puts it:
"The old Division Three was now called 2nd Division"
- confusing stuff, espeically when you've been on the raki & the ouzo at six in the morning...!
But this time around their Chinese owner got them in $40M of debt and they can’t afford to keep a ton of players
My prediction is 18th-20th
@@sawyertuide7636this time we also have carlos corberan
Props to your support of Matt SB. #BenjaminBloomClass
At a guess, I'd say it's somewhere in the middle, but tipping towards fall because big clubs come in for your best players and some teams can't get over getting so close
Firstly congratulations to Southampton bringing noise and quality support to the Hawthornes.
So obviously im WBA.
We had a great season despite big problems. Carlos worked miracles to get us to play offs. With no funds available for new players, using only true managerial quality, he gave us more than a fighting chance.
I dont think it was fluke because we where hovering about 5th most of the session but It would be unreasonable to expect the same this season.
Historically we never really spend, with new owners we may not go bust, but they wont spend.
Mowatt and Kipre are off i believe. Carlos couldn't be blamed for accepting an offer from a premier league team if he cant get the money he needs.
Coming season will be very tough. We're rebuilding so ill be ok with 10th position or so.
I worry that even if we can keep corberan, we have no scouting to replace all the players that will leave.
Could get good fees for the likes of okay, Griffiths, Grady, swift who I’d be looking to cash in on all. but our recruitment the last few years has been horrible which I worry about
Get young players on the up from lower championship/ league 1 & develop the likes of C Taylor, fellows, Ingram, heard & maybe we can progress
When my team QPR beat Derby 1.0 10 years ago, Derby ended in league one
Looks promising for Leeds I would say with the new Red Bull collab
What relevance will that have. They still need to sell numerous top players to comply with FFP. Leeds will struggle
@@PJOC31 40m for sini and adams. 60m from redbull. Our payments this season are 73m. Who do we need to sell?
@@andyd8434 Rutter, Summerville and Gray will leave as they don't want to play for a shite championship team no more
@@PJOC31and yur a be****d lol
@@PJOC31kn##
As a Leeds fan I’m hoping we go on and win the league But you never know in the championship. Did anyone think Ipswich would be so good. I didn’t. I had them finishing 9 th and I thought hard about that. I thought Middlesbrough would be up there with Sunderland. So hard to get it right at the start
I may well be wrong but i really don't think anyone will leave Leeds, why would we sell our best players if we don't have to, we have seen other clubs get round ffp with loopholes etc and now it looks like we have one via the sponsorship. I think we are going to have a much stronger team this season.
Norwich fan, I feel more positive than last season with the new coach arriving today. But a lot depends who we sell.
Ipswich fan who now lives and works in Norwich so lots of office football banter. Think Sara and Sargent will go which will hurt you. However, depends on what Knapper has lined up and how your new coach goes.
Unfortunately with our parachute payments gone we will have to sell a couple of our prize assets to generate money to rebuild our team, defence should be high on the list with centre Half's with pace, ball winning midfielders and upfront if we lose Sargent have to get right with recruitment in that area, hopefully our American part owners can help with strengthening our team after the Leeds shambles we don't want a team that looks so off it,good luck to our new manager, bet U Ben bloom buzzing now McKenna is staying, hopefully we can surprise a few people with the right recruitment 💛💚👍🇬🇫🐤
@@NigelCraske knappers link to arsenal might result in a quality loan signing. CBs with pace I can see as key. Would t worry too much about the Leeds game, on their day they could hammer anyone at championship standard. Scored 3 in something like 10 minutes against Leicester, put 4 past us home and away. Think fans with the most concern should be Plymouth.
@@SuperKinlo U must be buzzing with McKenna singing a long term contract at your club,I listened to mark Ashton interview he was key to getting McKenna at Ipswich and I'm sure he reassured him there will be money to strengthen,we have to sell to generate money but U have the luxury of premiership money and sponsorship with also TV money, our style of football didn't win many fans last season, the playoff match just made me realise how far away we r , but new manager fresh faces and it could work out,it wouldn't surprise me if McKenna keeps U up and even finish midtable, but as a Norwich fan U know where I would like U to finish but McKenna has that golden man management skills to get the maximum out of every player,I'm hoping our manager can be the same and players give everything to get fans excited after so many average performances last season, respect to U for your good comments 👍🇬🇫🐤🚜🏴🏴🏴🤞
@@SuperKinlo signing,lol not singing 😆😅🏴
Norwich fan: I'm excited about possibilities with JHT, but we have to look at next season as a transitional one, akin to Farke's first season with us, although perhaps to a lesser extent due to the complete, top-to-bottom nature of change at the club in 2017.
Ipswich fan here you appeared to have made a sensible managerial signing. He likes youth production, and looks at the long term project.
leeds are going up as champions, red bull made us super rich, in Farke we trust
Cant judge the other 2 but think leeds will win the championship.
With the redbull money (60m) and sini and adams money (40m) landing on the books we can cover our player payments (73m) and have money spare to bring players in without having to sell. Sell summerville and gnonto for 60m and farke will have a healthy transfer budget. First signing has to be rodon hopefully.
Forest fan here......if we sell Hudson-Odoi, would Gnonto be a good replacement....or is he a troublemaker ?
@@rjw4762 hes a good player and exciting to watch. The problem for me is hes around the ref too much when brought down, it doesnt work in the champo as little is given and theres no VAR.
@@rjw4762 Gnonto wants to go back to Italy and with forest problems with ffp they not spending £30mill on anyone
@rjw4762 Gnonto is technically good, with good balance, but think he is off to Italy this summer
@@lanzarotewhites only if 49ners say so,they didn’t even sell when he refused to play and now with a 1 yr shirt sponsor signed for £60mill which is more than Arsenal’s Man U ect they have the power to do that again but they probably want to freshen sqaud up to go again
0:52 my guess would be that most years one team sustains/improves, while the other two drop off. That is, admittedly, an assumption based on probably tired and erroneous profiles of teams that are in the playoffs, but my thinking is thus; usually you have the team that just missed out on automatic promotion, then a team that was really strong all season but never genuinely threatened the automatic places, and then two teams that would hover between 5th and 8th for most of the season, with one usually making a late surge. On that basis, I would say that the latter two (assuming that neither went up in a given year) would see a drop off, while the remaining team from the upper portion of the playoff pack would maintain or strengthen. I’m probably way off, but that’s what my assumption would be anyway.
I hope smug Leicester get a massive points deduction and are back in the championship next season. Even better. They have cheated,Keep them in the championship and put Leeds up.
Yep, many East Midlands businesses still haven't forgiven them from when they went into Voluntary Administration in c.2003, leaving many tens of thousands out of pocket. Looke very likely they will start season with mins 5 points......hopefully !
Think Leeds will win league the remaining 5 spots will probably contain the 3 relegated clubs. Expecting better from coventry, Boro and Hull and maybe sunderland. Gonna be a tough league again.
How do Ben, crazy few days for us. Who you think is gonna replace Kompany? Still shocked this happened
Lots of Championship clubs going through the rebuild phase. Luton may well have the most stability, I expect them to be top 6.
Even though we rose from 6th to 3rd, to then get promoted. I think most will fall. Either keeping hold of star players or overspending to get to the playoffs will cause a drop in most cases
Next season, Norwich City is going to play more aggressive, possession-based football. This is Johannes Thorup's focus as he said in the interview. Tbh, After learning a bit about him, I'm positive and actually see a rise in where we finish in the table. I hope this isn't just my bias 🤷🏻♂️.
Jacob Sorenson to finally nail down a starting place under our new Danish boss? As left back?
@@hughtube5154 were signing Martin Frese so he will start as left back
I'm a Leeds fan and with the new investment from redbull
Congrats you are getting a shirt sponsor from a shit energy drink, big wow. The other football teams they invest in havent achieved much
Apart from regular champions league football ..... its the biggest sponsorship deal in EFL history
@@andyd8434that idiots jealous
They've invested in shares. Go and worry about how you're gonna avoid relegation next year and don't get involved in Leeds business. Byeee
@@PJOC31 shirt sponsorship of £60mill,more than Man U and on par with man city,so shit that they are global, your bitterness can’t be hidden 😆
Next season is reason to be very optimistic for Norwich....unpopular manager, sporting director and playing style out...back to possession based style...1st full year of new sporting director and the loosening grip of Delias old guard....could go pear shaped, but might just surprise the league!
Gnonto and summerville together cost leeds just north of 5 mil which gives alot of ffp breathing room when they're sold, especially with slot a massive sunmerville fan.
Ferrell and red bull gives a massive boost to leeds finances.
Given all but harrison and roca can be moved on finally of the loan players aswell gives leeds real structure.
Massive difference to last june where leeds were one of the biggest messes in english football. They have stability and know how.
The teams coming down seem poor and a state bar luton so id say leeds are a strong comfortable title candidate.
I think wober could do a job too. Alaw.
Having paused at the prompt I'm guessing most playoff losers do worse the next season, but come again stronger a season or two later.
Massive changes coming at the hawthorns, 14 players released between the first and under 23's. Along side that we still can't afford to buy players unless we sell first as per the mess Gouchuan Lai left us in, then there's the adage of wether we'll be able to keep Carlos Corberan too. It could really go either way but I'll be happy to finish in the playoffs again next season.
Ben in yellow your secrets out lol
Bielsa did it. Farke will do it.
Think leeds will be just as good get 90 plus points agsin
I think Luton will do a Hudds town and drop down and fight against relagation.
Leeds and WBA will finish top 2 next season
Hopefully 2 will ..................West Brom and Leeds . Not ´that lot from up the road ´.
Probably be swapping places hopefully
Can't wait to see you get smashed every week
Norwich and West Brom will be just as competitive next season, although Norwich having a new manager makes anything possible in either direction; ditto baggies if Corberan leaves. Leeds will have far too much of a financial and P&S headache to compete next season. I think bottom half for them.
People on the outside always mentioning Leeds struggling with ffp is not actually correct sure a couple might leave but I would argue we will probably have a more balanced team next year relied too heavily on the 4 or 5 attackers with only paddy as a real number 9 midfielders need signing because we had zero goals from midfield & no creativity between any of them. Don’t think it will be as wholesale as everybody thinks. 49ers have already said that the red bull investment which is the biggest ever deal in efl history will help with on the pitch stuff & also said we will be at ffp limit when alls done but not over ffp which means we will have the best squad available ampadu. I still think next seasons teams coming down aren’t as strong as a Southampton or Leicester either
It's too early , most of Championship top 8 will set their best players to leave
(Sara , Rowe , Greaves , Summerville, Gray , Philogene ... )
Summerville will definitely go. Gray only if Summerville isn't sold quickly and only if there s a huge offer for him.
Grey stays not going anywhere summerville can go for me too greedy get top wack for him leeds champions next season
Red bull have just payed Leeds the biggest 1yr shirt sponsor in country,£60mill bigger than Man U by £12mill and on par with city, they not forced to sell anyone and are looking way beyond promotion from this league
@@derrickwright3810 Fabrizio said otherwise mate ... Sorry
@@user-ze8mk8dw9i yea he gets everything right and you are right to believe him😆
Next season West Bromwich Albion takeover in the summer transfer window West Bromwich Albion in January transfer window West Bromwich Albion
if norwich keep most our best players i think we'll rise. under thorup i think we'll be much better than we were under wagner.
i'd imagine leeds could push on and get automatics this season and i could see west brom doing similarly to how they've done this season but potentially a small fall
Leeds and Albion only ones going up. Luton will return
Miss your dearly departed series. Love your dedication to Tier 2. Hope that we won't lose you as you follow Ipswich upstairs.
Leeds, yes, Norwich, yes WBA no my top 6 not in order are Leeds Burnley Norwich Sheffield United Coventry Sunderland
I want to no how long it's going to take the top three to survive in the premiership
Leeds is getting 100 points next season.
No - they will come close then bottle it
Well, it's a lottery. Leeds will be strong I'm not sure about West Brom and Norwich. It all depends on them keeping players. I don't think Sheffield Utd will be in it and Burnley without Kompany remains to be seen. Luton will do what needs to be done. We will lose Barkley and maybe Doughty. Lokonga and Kabore will go back to parent clubs. The talk is Kompany wants Lokonga at Bayern. We need to keep Adebayo. He brings so much more than scoring goals. If we recruit well. We will be in the mix. In Luton Town I trust. We've done it once. We can do it again, and it would take a brave man to back against us finishing top six. Let's hope it's top two. COYH
Leeds will be Champions next season.
QPR as dark horses? The moment they got rid of Numpty Ainsworth they took off and they have some good players. Of the exPLs, Luton look the best equipped. Probably Leeds champs ( I thought they would be this year) but can’t see the Baggies doing much. Not sure about Norwich. Cov have a habit of unearthing very good players and Boro should have fewer injuries.
Red Bull will give Leeds wings, just like the legend of Icarus. They will fly towards the bright sunlight of the Premier League…
Yes Look what happened to Icarus mate!
@@christophercorbett5074 that was the purpose of the three dots on the end of my comment
Not a good example didn't he fly too close 😂
Yea 49ners/redbull are looking way beyond promotion from this league
Oh no not again 😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂😂
Leeds fan. I think Leeds will win with 100+ points.
And you wonder why everyone hates Leeds 🤣🤣⚔️⚔️⚔️
You said that last season 😂
Leeds still receive sizable parachute payments I was shocked at the amount - enough to cover the entire wage bill in many other clubs. Leeds have a lot of debt though they will certainly need to sell to buy. Baggies out of money now aren't they? Norwich still get a very big payment too.
No don’t need to sell to buy,£45 mill is on next accounts for 2 players sold to Bournemouth in January and red bull shirt sponsor being biggest in championship history and being well inside FFP they are fine
Norwich's parachutes ran out this season, there won't be any for next season, as ben said
@@ManWalksDogs They've only had two seasons down so one more season (24-25) to live off the spoils. WBA are out now.
As an Ipswich fan I have to say Norwich supporters seem a lot less cocksure than Leeds A ball has not been kicked yet For the record I think that West Brom now that the take over has been completed may do better than either of them Middlesbrough and Coventry should do very well if Luton hang onto Rob Edwards (maybe he won't be heading to Portman Road or anywhere else now?) they should also push hard and don't discount either of the Sheffield clubs I think Wednesday could be a dark horse!
I would imagine a fall if they can't replace like for like............PL relegated teams have to be put in the mix.
Majority fall? More so recently, unless on parachute?
i think Leeds will walk it next season
imagine losing in the playoffs 😭
Fall. But not by much. Huddersfield were something of an outlier.
Expect Farke to win the league - unless FFP and backdated transfer instalments get them
Norwich could be a rebuild year and 2025/26 is the year
WBA need a few more good signings
Fall
Think the Blades will be lucky to survive relegation to league one.
I don’t anticipate any of the 3 teams left from the play offs to be anywhere near the top 3 next season.
Leeds will get another 90+ pts and win league, the £60mill coming in from red bull for biggest shirt sponsor will allow them to keep players and buy the best out of the leagues transfer business
@@derrickwright3810 I hear a lot of people talking about another 150 million going into Burnley. If that’s true (I don’t know) then I would suggest they will win the league. Also haven’t Leeds overspent by 106 million and have to bring in 100 million to prevent breaching ffp
Rules?
Why?
@@Bibg867 revenues of Leeds is different gravy to Burnley ,don’t matter what money is coming into Burnley though Burnley is small fry compared to 49ners but to do with sponsorships regarding FFP or P&S and Leeds just signed biggest sponsorship in championship history,Burnley won’t concern Leeds financially
@@Bibg867 no again totally wrong on what you heard regarding Leeds ,£36mill under ffp and £45mill on this yrs accounts from 2 players sold to Bournemouth,Leeds not only wealthiest club in league but well under P&S

WBA will fall after the season we had .
Not good under Carlos. Didn't really enjoyed watching us last season. Most of the games was boring to watch . Only one game I enjoyed was beating Leeds another than that nothing great.

As an Albion fan, got no clue. So much could change this summer. Half the squads gonna change.
If corberan stays & we recruit well, we can improve on last season
But there’s a possibility corberan goes or our recruitment falls short again which could lead to an underwhelming season
I’d say at best, a difficult start bedding in a bunch of younger new players & hopefully make a good run later in the season (similar to Coventry)
Both will be relegated
Fall, Norwich. Go on, fall, fall, fall, fall and keep plummeting!
That's Town relegated by Christmas pretty good present to me
