Use a cloth like the Greeks did. They didn't wrap it around their body, but rather around the wrist of the hand that is behind the instrument. I'm actually off to buy some cloth today to make one of these for the lyre I just finished building.
Thanks for bringing this up. Someone else mentioned it and I looked into it but I'm not convinced. Doesn't give me the same degree of freedom. Let me know how it works for you though and make a video of it if you can. Many people will appreciate the knowledge. I sure will.
@@martinschillaci This guy does it better than I can:

Sometimes lyres don't have good geometry for this.

Great job
@@debralondon4295 Thank you!
Love it!
I use a wrist strap, but will definitely try this! Thank you!
Don’t own a lyre. Now I want one, lol. That’s pretty ingenious.
hehehe, thanks. But don´t get this one, lol, or any 19 string lyre. It is now an 18 string lyre tuned down a whole step since I can´t get strings that will hold the manufacturer´s tuning.
@@martinschillaci got it. Does everyone in Europe speak perfect English? Most Americans usually can’t even speak correct English.
@@andrewwabik5125 I lived in Texas, lol. And as a matter of fact I had quite the Southern accent, though unfortunately it faded with time. A lot of Europeans speak English very well, and in places like Madrid you will find that a lot of people have fluent English.
Great idea
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Hope you find it useful!
As a harp player I have struggled with holding my lyre so I can play with both hands. Its just so awkward.. I will try this!
Good luck
Great!
Oh I might try it tomorrow!
Let me know how it goes
Not bad, I need a longer belt and it blocks my G3 string but I had a much easier access to playing with both hands. ✨@@martinschillaci
Hey! That's a really nice lyre! Where did you get it?
Amazon. I don't recommend it though, I can't find strings that will hold the tuning of the two highest pitches without breaking. A 16 string lyre might be better.
@@martinschillaci oh, bummer. thanks for the advice!
@@CharlioXD Yea I know. No problem
I have just started playing, and the wrist strap is not as good as this idea. Thanks
Glad it works!
Try a wrist strap.
A wrist strap?
My lyre has feet.
Nice. Those are more expensive though... This one is for poor people.
Oh nice, just saw your channel. I see you built your own lyre.
@@martinschillaci I'm poor :P
I spent 200USD to make my lyre... and many days of work.
@@Annd_99 I'll have to look at the videos
Спасибо,первый раз вижу,как играют на лире
Hey! Sorry for not replying earlier, I didn't see your comment. I'm glad you liked this video and hope you find it useful!
