Filipino movie director JP Habac's cozy plywood clad micro loft in the heart of Metro Manila has been meticulously crafted to maximise space and showcase Habac’s art, collectibles, records, and awards. Originally one open room, architect Arts Serrano from one/zero completely reimagined the space, adding a lofted bedroom and expanding the kitchen and living room. The kitchen now features a central bar that serves as both additional counter space and an area for entertaining guests. A custom floor-to-ceiling joinery element in the living area is cleverly divided into three zones: a record player station, TV and media storage, and a fold-out desk for a compact home office.

The death drop from the loft makes me nervous but I still like this apartment a lot. Also Pathy is super cute!!
Imagine you roll off your bed in your bedroom and end up landing in your living room 😂
The death drop... 😂😂😂😂
Literally came here to say the same. Love the whole aesthetic. But why is there nothing to stop someone rolling off the bed at night to their death (or serious injury)? Installing some kind of knee or even shin height netting or railing would be a step in the right direction.
as a klutz, i gasp audibly anytime i see stairs without *or even with!* in an apartment. period.
Yeah, that was my first thought! I'd be tripping my way to certain death on that little loft path. But otherwise, a great, livable apartment -- cozy and practical and personal.
As someone who loves Never Too Small, I'm happy to see the Philippines showcased, featuring a style of home design that diverges from the typical modern condo aesthetic. It's truly refreshing to witness this alternative approach. Hats off to the architect behind it all!
+1!!
Same!
same!
I really like this apartment. It has everything you need. If I lived there I would have a net railing on the walkway for my safety. But that’s just me. The bathroom is perfect. Those folded T-shirts are awesome!
Agree. the whole concept is amazing but the absence of a railing on the walkway and by the bed is not safe.
@@Jiphounebut the bed is completely ensconced into that niche… I don’t see any need for protection!
A great space. Well thought-out. I don’t mind the bedroom space but getting to and from it would give me the horrors. Cute dog.
@@businessasusual9077 Well. you never know if you'll be a bit too drunk one day and roll off your bed...
@@Jiphoune plenty of opportunities, in that scenario, to fall off the stairs or the passageway before even reaching the bed….😂
Finally someone interacted with the house pet in one of the Never too Small videos!!! Yes, I've been waiting for years!
so nice that the personality of the owner seems to shine through. love the brightness of it all
ang ganda parang walang pagala-galang malaking rug sa labas
HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA KA EME NAMAN
AHAHAHAHAHA benta!
Hoy hahahaha
HAHFAHSHAHAHAHSHAHAAHAH
Laroooooo hahahahahahahaahaha
I love how warm, cosy and inspiring it feels. The only thing I would change is some railing on the upper level for safety
I think I fell from the loft 5 times just watching this video:'D Great design and a lovely video though:)
Be still my heart! B612 as the inspiration - absolutely genius. What a space made with rich imagination, romance, soul, and such fun creativity. This is one of the most genuinely heartfelt designs this channel has featured. Bravo.
I am in awe. This is an incredible apartment. They really made the most out of this space and it is such an upgrade compared to the original. Moving the door of the bathroom to create a larger kitchen, adding a loft to make the most of that height, all the storage integrated… and it is so cozy, comfortable and absolutely perfect for a young person/couple! 10/10 would live there!
Broker from Manila here, and please feature more small homes here in Metro Manila! There are a ton of beautiful spaces here
This is one of my favorites to date. Brilliant use of space, the apartment feels so much bigger than just 258 square feet.
warm, inviting, and full of lovely art. this is the sort of homes that i love! hope JP will make many wonderful memories in it
I love how these feels easy to live in. Decent and easy storage, nothing really needs to be constantly tidied and folded away in order to do something else. It feels really comfortable to function in.
There are some things I'd personally struggle with (e.g. the narrowness of the bathroom or the loft areas without barriers), but it's beautifully and thoughtfully designed for this person.
Id added a ventilation possibility for under the mattrass to avoid a molded mattrass and wood floor. But the apartment feels so modern yet cosy and curated to me! Beautiful!
It's in the tropics (Philippines). Mold isn't a very big issue. But yes, it would be better if he had a wooden pallet on the floor to support the mattress.
@@kitty_s23456 mold is pretty common here apparently. more than what you think, at least. haha!
@@Roedism I only encounter molds during the rainy season. Many Filipinos sleep with their mattress directly on the floor (for years) & they don't get health problems due to that. (high blood, diabetes, pollution, etc =yes) I think Filipinos are just more hardy. Lol.
I love everything about it- but I would like a built in oven and hob. I’d also like more robust barriers between the bedroom/ walkway and the inevitable fall to my death in the sitting room below! Stylish though!
Bless you I laughed so much with your comment !!! 😂😂😂
I agree about the walkway to the bedroom needing some sort of safety railing. The current configuration looks a bit dangerous.
i agree about the buillt in hob thing , it'll be a hassle to plug something in everytime you want to cook something.
This apartment and many like this featured on Never To Small do not meet basic safety standards. Railings are a necessity, not a luxury!
And real stairs instead of the ladder
I love what has been done with less than 30m2. Clever but cosy as well. My only issue is that I would not like to go up and down a ladder and definitely want a barrier along the walkway to bedroom. That bedroom/library space is particularly pleasing.

Imagine trying to get to the bed after a night of drinking 😂
thats what the sofa is for😄
He actually mentioned it on his podcast... he couldnt make it to the bed 😂😂
So clean and at the same time homey.
I don't usually like bed platforms, but this one is surprisingly roomy. However, it needs a guard rail.
This is my perfect example of having all you need in a small space, I'd love to live in an apartment similar to this :)
i lived in an apt with this square footage in greenwich village for many yrs and am in love with this apt! the aesthetically beautiful and thoughtful storage is so key to being able to have a home that's calm yet filled with personality. not every architect really thinks about how a space will be lived in but it's so clear that from the start of the project, this was designed with every aspect of the client's life in mind and obviously the client has great taste too. i'm so glad these two met and together created a work of art. just lovely.
I love how there's so much personality that it truly feels like a home. The wood made the space feel so warm and "filled" too. Like, not just some bare white walls and and boring furniture for "minimalism", even his counter stools are interesting. This is modern minimalism done right.
So happy to see a home in the Philippines be featured, that doesn't look like the stereotypical condo style! Also, I see your copy of Some People Need Killing! Yesss
Love this space. The idea of painting the plywood white at the bottom is genius, yet the wood colour adds so much warmth and creates a unity throughout. His artwork is the bonus. The amount of storage is great. Great job!!!
Love the apartment, the only thing I would add is a handrail in the loft .
Congratulations for the beautiful work.

What an inviting, calm space. Lovely dog too ❤
I adore this flat, the worn in sofa, being able to see TV from the loft area, the cozy bedroom nook and having your book collection inside your wardrobe is a great idea
Love the design and the art!! Just one thing, for a 49yr old woman like me, it'd be very difficult to climb that ladder for my age 😁 Maybe a more suitable stairs for older people will be thankful 😃 Still, love the apartment!!
I love NTS but they do tend to feature spaces fit for only the young
Yes at 70 with a fear of heights I’d never get up to bed😆
@@phylliscraineyes, come on NTS let’s see a small design aimed at an older clientele which doesn’t need you to crawl into bed on your hands and knees.
It looks like NTS won't feature spaces for older individuals because it is believed that they most likely end up in nursing homes. Peace out 🙂
@@phylliscrainethat's because it's primarily younger people who are living in these properties and contacting the producers to showcase their homes. If you know of someone who is a senior citizen and designing for themselves versus a younger client, encourage them to submit their completed project for consideration.
Love the warmth, colours and textures of the room. I’d be freaked out by that ladder and walkways with no railings. Perhaps a ship’s ladder, which incorporates handhold slots into the design, might be safer.

At this point we need to address the volume of the apartment. Because this will never be relatable to a normal 24m2 😭
Love the bathroom. I just wish a rail was also installed on the walkway going to the bedroom and that the ladder was more slanted for easier access to the bedroom/walkway.

Talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show-stopping, spectacular, never too small
This is cushy, love it so much. It feels like home indeed.
It's the first time I saw a place on this platform that is warm and vivid at the same time. Wonderful design and pleasant designer.
Nicely done! 🙌 And, I also love the t-shirt "Karma Police"😊❤
Off topic, but I like the Karma Police t-shirt.
I love the idea and the design. The feeling of the space is so comfortable and playful!
Everything about this apartment is amazing! The layout and the materials used add a unique character to the space
I love this little apartment, the finishes are elegant and subtle and the whole space is so well designed around the person ❤
I love the wonderful way you've embraced plywood in its almost natural state. Beautiful!
really beautiful! functional, cozy, it's an actually tiny space but doesn't look cramped at all - just perfect!!
This is one of the best apartments yet! Amazing place and I especially love the mirror above the toilet!!!
I like this space. Hi Director JP, missed your shows
Been anticipating this one and was not dissapointed. I love the use of stained and painted wood for the space!
Gorgeous apartment. Genius design. Sweet!
I like it. It's the right amount of everything -- clean lines; spacious; well-designed; perfectly executed; and modern, but not pretentious. Most importantly, it's tailored and feels lived-in. 👌🏾
Thanks for another solid feature, Never Too Small.
The white band in the walls looks amazing, I don’t know if it helps quth the perception of space or any technical stuff, but sure looks great with the wood surface.
The distribution is really good even if I would have a bigger space for the desk and I always wonder how dangerous these kind of stairs can be, or impossible to use if you get home with some fracture or a bit drunk 🤣
Happy to see an apartment from the Philippines! This is beautiful and practical design! so warm and homey too. Well done!
Amazing space planning! The use of a lot of wood gave the condo unit a lot of warmth. I love that in such a small space, a sleeping loft was added for separation and privacy. It's ideal for a single young person.
It's here, finally! Congrats, Direk JP!!!
I love how cozy and unique this apartment is.
The unit feels warm, cozy, compact, homey and interesting! The warmth of the wood, the cool cement floor, the strategic lighting and the colorful pops of art are indeed interesting!
I love how they used Little Prince as an inspiration. Also loved how Direk JP's personality reflects the overall design of the space. Happy to see more and more featured works from the Philippines, it just makes me feel proud.
So many great details. Love the floor, and the white level below and the pale wood above.
An apartment where you can actually live! Beautiful table on the middle of the space. Inspiring place, congrats!
Wow, it pushed through Direk JP 🤘 Nicely done, can't believe it's only 24sqm ♥
Congrats, Direk JP! ❤🎉
filming in such small space is another challenge, hats off to the production team!
This apartment has so much personality I love it💕
LOVE this. Proud to see an amazing Filipino design 🥰
Wow! I am absolutely in love with this apartment. So incredibly cool.
as a long time NTS fan, this makes me so happy to see a space nestled at the heart of my country PH.
This is such a beautiful flat , I absolutely love the bed loft its really a separate realm from the rest of the apartment . The combination of the wood and white colourway is brilliant and works splendidly. 10/10 would live in this place
This is really nice. I really like that the extensive plywood has some sheen to it. I get really fed up with the very depressing, cheap-looking, unfinished (?) ply that many architects have been obsessed with in recent years. The joinery here looks like it was made with love. The use of space is clever and storage-wise, they understood that their client is a man who has Stuff! This looks like an apartment you could actually live and entertain in.
Oh, and that red painting in the kitchen is delicious.
What an amazing use of space. I love it.
Absolutely fabulous!! The panelling is dope!
Beautiful! Functional and cozy great job with the design of the space ❤️💋
Really beautiful! Very cosy and functional!
Some of the best-looking plywood I have seen in a while! The poured floor is well done too! 😎✌️
What a great transformation! I love this space!
I love how cozy the place looks and feels. Usually condos are so generic but this one has its own personality. ALSO! That pup is cute AF 🥰
What a lovely and cosy little space!
That bedroom is soooo cozy! And I love how much storage it has. Although if it was me, I would definitely need the railing to be much longer and maybe higher
so nice and cozy. the high ceilling opens up so many possibilities!
So clever! Love the use of the apartment’s shape
Absolutely love this! One of my all time favourites!
I love the storage solutions, the brightness and utility of the space. I would add a railing for the bed though...
love love love everything about this place . Its perfect
I just found this channel and it’s awesome! I’ve never understood why people require such grandiose spaces when something so small, cosy and well designed can work perfectly, this is all I could possibly want in a home. Imagine not spending free time cleaning just living… ❤
This is well laid out. Love the placement of everything despite the small space.
This apartment is so small but it has everything in it, so liveable so cozy and artistic. Love it
The warmth of the speaker is a gift to us all.
What has been done with this flat is fantastic.
This is geniusely designed. I love it.
This is beautiful. The only thing I’d be worried about, and have always worried about with layouts like these is, God forbid I injure my leg and can’t climb up to bed 😅
Cosy and Beautiful ! Very clever and well done 👍🏼
one of the best on the channel this far!
AHHHH! JP's home and life
I’ve been a big fan of NTS & Direk JP as well, I patiently wait for his ep to show as he talks about it on his amazing podcast with Direk Tonet. I love the whole loft specially the fact you can stand straight once you reach the bed. Safety railings is definitely needed as intrusiveness might want me to jump haha. But over all I live the whole space. Thanks Direk for allowing us to see your space & thanks team NTS for another great episode
DIREK JP!! DREAM COME TRUE!!
I love this , havent seen a design this good in a long time
omg direk jp!! so happy to see another PH feature!! and direk named his dog after a character from his movie IDILY, cute 😊
Omgggggg NTS vid in the PH❤❤❤ Looking forward for more homes to be featured.
This is the most memorable❤ Inspired by the Little Prince makes this even more wonderful🥰 I want my place to be inspired by my favourite stories too
I went 'wow' when i saw the loft. awesome space
❣️❣️❣️ Love the warm, colourful interior! And the generous storage space created within the small footprint! And that big fridge!! The sleeping gallery is great!! 😍The bathroom too! The lack of a proper handrail would be an easy fix.
I love this space! So cozy and personal. ❤️
This is my kind of dream home. All the wood grain and high ceiling 😮
Beautiful, warm apartment full of the warmth of the owner.
