Haworth is very underrated, my upstairs office chair is a Haworth and it's very nice. Haworth gives you a ton of features, my backrest can go up and down, I love the seat being able to slide back and forth, I never use the forward tilt but it's nice it is there in case I wanted to. I have no arms on mine and honestly that is the best thing ever, arms just get in the way and hit everything, I don't ever really wants arms on an office chair again or at least want arms that can basically disappear if I want them to.
great comparision video! I own HM chairs, however this video is still well made. You look into details that actually important for your everyday movement and comfort
I purchased a Zody Upholstered (LX) without the extra lumbar feature. It's very noticeable to me that it's lacking in lumbar support. After speaking with customer service, I learned that the extra lumbar feature does actually *add* additional lumbar support, as well as making it adjustable vs skipping it entirely. So, if you want solid lumbar support in this chair, it sounds like it shouldn't be skipped.

Hey, which of the two chairs would you say has better lumbar support and would be better for a more "upright" position? Are they as upright as a mirra 2 or aeron, or are they more laid back like the embody (which I don't really like)?

Dang that is a GREAT question....really can't go wrong with either. I would say the Amia if you like soft plushy foam, and the Zody LX if you like dense memory foam like foam! Hope this helps! let me know what you decide (and please consider using my links if you purchase! Helps a LOT!!)

If you want your chair to last longer, it's best to choose Zody. Soft foam will collapse after a period of use, which is very uncomfortable.
Alright, this is already the 3rd time watching this video (3rd-ish, depending on how you count the times I skip forward and back). I'm still in the return window of my Fern. I'm not sure I love it the way I expected to - or at least not at the current pricing, which has skyrocketed since your review. One thing I really DO enjoy is the support that goes all the way up the back. I know a lot of people say it has a great back, but lower down, I'd say it's only okay (maybe I needed the lumbar option) though higher up, the part I like most about the Fern is how the back keeps its hold going all the way up my back just about perfectly. I'm wondering if some tiny evolutions in the Zody LX make it better in some respects (like more stable armpads), and also hoping that maybe the low-, mid-, AND upper-back support is all at least as good as the Fern's. Maybe not as flexy, sure, but in static work mode is it a present feeling?
Long-winded question short: While we're waiting for your ultimate NHB throw-down video between Fern and Zody LX, just looking for just your 2 or 3 biggest differentiators between these two chairs and especially a note on whether the Z-LX supports you mid- and upper-back-wise.

@@Ahnestly if i may add something to my previous comment on the HM video, while i am still strongly considering returning the chair to show solidarity.
As a business owner myself, i always take care to never been in a position where if one of "client" could put me in a situation like that. It's also your job as a business to find the perfect balance where if a partnership go bad, you have others revenue steam to fall upon. For example a rule of mine is that none of my clients represent more than 10% of my annual revenue, it's probably exessive, but it work for me.
In your case having half your content (and maybe revenue ?) being about HM is a curse you kind of bring upon yourself.
Still even if you put yourself on this position, i do still think it was a shi**y move on their side to act on it.

I didn’t like the fern mainly because I don’t like chairs with a back that goes taller then my shoulders. So I figured this chair would be the next best thing. I ordered the LX

I just got the Zody LX and it is super squeaky when reclining.. the seat pan is also wobbly and the armrests shake a lot. I was really hoping this would be the one because it is truly a beautiful chair, but the QC is very poor for a $1400 chair
Any bottoming out for your heavier friends?
A heavier person commented on my Soji video saying that pad bottomed out, but not in an uncomfortable way. The Zody's cushion is more dense than the Sojis and I believe the Zody has a weight limit of 400 lbs!
I’m 6’1 and I’m deciding between the fern and the Zody LX. I really like the forward tilt perch option on the Zody, but I’m worried that at my height it won’t make a lot of sense for a standing desk. Any thoughts?
This is a tough one and you’re running out of time since the sale ends today. My suggestion - get both (on the fern, make sure to get the forward tilt option bc that might be a good compromise should you end up liking the fern better) and then return the one you don’t like. This way, you’re guaranteed to get the sale price!! Please consider using my link as it helps the channel a lot!
Ik this is a month later, but I'm 6' and had no problem w the forward tilt perch on the Zody LX trying it in the showroom today. But I will say I have a longer torso, my legs aren't super long.

I'm 6'4 and 285lbs, I was wondering what chair is worth getting- everything video I saw never truly hit my bodyweight range or height range (hit one category or the other never truly both); I'm leaning towards the gesture with a headrest and lumbar but wanted your opinion
Man at your height, options are really limited. I would definitely say get a chair from a reputable brand - you may be needing that warranty at your weight. I ahnestly don't know if a gesture w/headrest would even work...you might be too tall for it. Also, the seat pad doesn't have the best rep and people noted it "bottoms out" easily. My personal recommendation would be the Embody with a headrest from Atlas Headrest (slated to start shipping in March/April) or if you want fabric, then I would say the Haworth Fern

@@Ahnestly @Ahnestly Im so glad you answered him, ive been watching you for months now, and im 6'6" 265 (Lebron Build Body Type) and was leaning towards the gesture rather than the embody? but i think you've swayed me.
I am 6'2" and 185. The biggest issue that I have had is the depth of the seat pan. I have a Gesture and a Leap V2. With both of them, the seat pan is too short even with them extended all of the way out. Outside of the HM Aeron, I have found only one manufacturer that allows you to chose your seat size and that is Egocentric. The Ergocentric TCentric Hybrid allows you to chose your seat size and the chair has the seat slide function. I have specked out the chair and fully loaded, it comes to around 1350.00. The only issue is that I have yet to find a review of the chair. I am seriously considering taking a chance and buying it. I am waiting for them to respond to an email that I sent concerning their return policy (when I clicked on their webpage link for the return policy nothing comes up). As a FYI, the Fern is a really nice chair but I think that the seat will be too short (just my two cents).
How does the Zody XL compare to the Amia?
Ugh…the Amia is just so damn comfortable, but adjustability is limited and looks pretty boring compared to the Zodys! I’d say Amia if you sit normally most of the time, but if you stand, find yourself tilting forward, or want more fine tune adjustments, the Zody is the way to go! The LX is the prettiest ergo chair I've seen, really wish it had a more flexible frame and aggressive PAL (last point is a slight downgrade from the original).
Fantastic tasking chair, though the Fern seems to be better for mixed-use environments like WFH imo (desk tasking, reading books, gaming, etc...).
I bought this based on looks (I'm a designer) and returned it. IMHO it had quite a bit of lumbar support - too much for me. The back is not soft and since it has zero flex I feet a bit trapped in position and I don't move around a lot. On the loosest setting you really need to push to get it to lean back. Also quality control was terrible. I was supposed to have lumbar support but all I had was a lever with no inner support mechanism. The lever flopped around and wouldn't stay up. It also came with one arm slightly higher than the other. Not sure how it passed inspection.
I'm comparing Zody LX/ZodyII vs Fern(no lumbar support). I don't need perch position function. Also, the Zody series's back cannot hold the body at a up straight position, which Fern could. But someone also complains the lower back support of Fern(no lumbar version) is very weak. Can anyone help me make the decision? thank you !
Hey! Why not get a fern with the lumbar option then? You could always remove the lumbar bubble if you don’t like it!

I had a Fern with no lumbar support. Had to return it - there is no support there without it

Does anyone have experience with both the Zody LX and the Fern? I am struggling to decide which one to go with. They both seem like great options.
I mean…I do :) the LX has a more proper upright back if that’s what you want, but the fern is more cushy, especially the digital knit version! Since they offer an excellent return policy, highly recommend maybe picking up both and sending the one you don’t like back! If you decide to pick up, please consider using my links - helps the channel a LOT!

Embody, Fern, Leap, or something else for someone 6'1" and 250 pounds (working on dropping the weight -- goal is to get to 180) that sits in the chair for an average of 12 hours a day 6 days a week (software engineer and pc gamer)?. I do like lumbar support if that matters.
I didn't mention gesture simply because I know it has the seat bottoming out issue. Correct me if that makes the list.
my #1 pick is the embody, It's got a headrest option now (shipping may take quite some time), but that allows you to have even more options for how you sit.
