This states that Greene & Jefferson were the only regular cast members to appear in the sequel series, but "The Return of Starbuck" centered around Dirk Benedict.
Don't forget Dirk Benedict was the other actor from the original to return, even if for one episode. He was also slated to return in a follow-up, but the series got cancelled before that happened.
Goodiesfanful That alone him returning as a show regular would have saved the show for at least a full 22 episode run maybe. I would have lost the see how Starbuck dealt with Earth culture. Back when he was younger he would have loved Earth's strip clubs for sure but after having a kid and family back on planet he was stranded on who knows.
Also clips From The Battle of Britain was used in the WW2 episode, when Troy spotted the german aircraft you saw Stuka's, the part the german planes were chasing the vipers there was a clip 2 German ME 109's chasing a Spitfire🤣🤣😀

That was his only appearance in season 2
Galactica 1980 is still a popular choice in lists of worst SF shows. Only the last episode, "The Return of Starbuck", has drawn any respect.

That and The night the Cylons landed where about the only good episodes.
Rip Loren Greene COMANDER Adama

Poor Robbie, maligned as the series killer.

Stock footage is often used in both movies and TV shows to save costs. Trek used stock footage a lot especially with explosions.
