This is undoubtedly one of the greatest summary style of videos I've seen in a while, *especially due to the shoutout at **1:04**!* Bravo! I also never knew that the GP40X and DH-1 existed until now.
You also forgot to review the SD40J so this video gets a GEVO/10. /s
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video, and i did put in that reference to PRR 4663 as i enjoyed watching the Remarkable Engines series. I also was contemplating putting the SD40J on here, but i was unsure if it was a hoax or not.
@@cowlunitproductions2004 Nice to know! Apparently the SD40J is on the same website that showcased the SD70J, so it's confirmed. I believe it was listed for sale at a price of only $500,000!
and the SD26, Guilford had some and ATSF had some. It would pretty much be "this was a thing" then move on
also missed the SD40A's
@@jenniferteffner9907 no he didn't, watch the video again.
7:42 thicc but reliable
7:45 thicc but unreliable
7:48 the fuck were you doing
Well, a big engine does come with big problems.
You mean the SD80s and SD90s
Yea, that fits
“Mandated Passenger variant.”
*Mandated
My favorite part is the last time he said that 😂
No it’s like XD “ MANDATED PASSENGER VARIENT!!!!! ”
*Mandated!*
Being relatively new to the railfanning community I have to ask: Why do mandated passenger variants of locomotives make him so angry?
I've got three words for you
MANDATED PASSENGER VARIANT
Now we need the GE version.
Nah, it’s all trash until 1990 (says an EMD supremacist)
@@andrewreynolds4949 : I mean, the early GEs might have loaded slow, might have had reliability issues, and they might have been really good at blowing up, but the six-axle U-boats and -7s did look pretty cool.
We got it!
@@andrewreynolds4949 I'm not a supremacist of either, but it can be pointed out that we see old EMDs all the time, while pre- Dash 9 GE's are extremely rare now.
The *mandated passenger variant* happens to be my favorite EMD standard cab. More specifically, the GP40P, the SDP40 and the SDP45.
Love that he doesnt say that for the Go transit gp40tc since they were made for Toronto commuter service
As someone who helped restore an FP7 to working condition I can agree that it is an E unit but compressed
What railroad?
@@capefeartrainsandsirens the locomotive isn’t used on any railroads it is a display piece in my town. It was used on the Milwaukee St. Paul and pacific railroad
GN181 switcher at 3:07 is in Whitefish, MT on display right next to the BNSF depot where I work. It's amazing it hasn't been vandalized as you can walk right up to it.
The Milwaukee roa-
Now we need every GE locomotive described
POS from Syracuse. Done.
"Crap, crap, crap, crap, 44-tonner, 70-tonner, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, Dash-9, AC4400, GEVO."
"Amtraks most overrate-"
Man you really went off the deep end there lmao
7:21 one of my most favorite locomotive
Love it, absolutely love it! That F40 bit had me "rolling"(pun initially not intended)XD.
I think Trains Mag did a full-length feature on the BL20-2 at some point. They were designed to recycle the chassis and electricals of GP7's and GP9's while still being a mostly-new locomotive. For some reason, though, they just couldn't make the economics of rebuilding versus starting-from-scratch work out properly in the end.
Speaking about the BL20-2, the railroad I railfan bought all the BL20-2s. They still run but I haven’t seen them in a little.
iirc, the tax incentive that was driver of the concept was pulled out from under them, which, while still cheaper, mad them only marginally cheaper.
For the FL9, he should have said "defect detectors be an axle short yo, just saying" (5 axle engine)
4:57 I can relate. the trains are like 50 feet from my back porch and 90% of the time I get woken up at 5am by the GP40MCs loud engine tone.
What meme is that? It's hilarious!
"The livery's cool, I guess"
George Carlin voice "Fuck you, it's great."
Yes, I'm from Florida.
Sounds like the not-kid-friendly George Carlin Thomas the Tank Engine edits, which are absolutely hilarious (and I regard as 100% canon).
Beautiful work man
5:19 this part made me laugh so hard that perfectly cut WHAT THE FU-
Great video btw!
you've earnt my subscription, this is a fucking masterpiece
i love this channel
Nothing beats a good old EMD engine noise.
Nothing beats the roar of an SD series locomotive especially the Sd40-2
I prefer the cw60ac, i mean double the hp yo
great train video
I love those Sd70 series. Those are my favorite ones. The Sd70ace is one my number one favorite.❤
i really like your adding skill XD nice video!
BTW you blook's like miss the SD18...?
NVM you mention it
3:21, that's taken in my hometown Duluth, and I personally rode on that loco.
I really like your videos. Mandated Passenger Variant. Every EMC/EMD locomotive. EMC started with gasoline self propelled railcars. When acquired by General Motors they entered the diesel electric locomotive industry. That moment at 5:17
It's the best american loco digest I've ever seen! Now waiting same video about GE and ALCO locos)))
8:03 Your last reaction was exactly every true rail fans reaction to that thing was also when is the GE version of this coming out?
Love this video
THE Milwaukee Road
Well done !
Super funny video! I do recommend that if you do more videos like this in the future, subtitles. They would help immensely, especially for someone like me who’s hard of hearing.
2:15
Long live the Hancock air whistle
Always appreciate some good train memes
5:49 nfts in a nutshell
"They existed. Then they died"
Good music choice and great memes!
7:37 And now it’s getting a Passenger Variant
Yay somebody realized gp49s exist (the alaska/cww/not florida ones are best)
We need more triclops! Those were the days man!
6:48 mandated passinger veriant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
7:42 now we're going to a BIG MAC
Funny! My favorite EMC / EMD units where the Rock Island 9000 series baggage motors of 1929, the SW1 (so cute!), and the BL2. Runners up would be the streamlined power cars, NW-series, RS1325, and SDL39. Throw in the GMD1 A-1-A, A-1-A units! Hey! Those NW4s looked great on the Union to Lincoln, Nebraska locals! Mopac ran lots of GP15-1s and GP32-2s when I was a teenager.
EMD FP45- My fav diesel that is underrated.
Agreed
Absolutely appropriate response to the battery powered locomotive
SD20-2 while technically rebuilt was definitely its own class of locomotive
Great Video
5:32 "America's most overrated locomo- I mean, most popular locomotive?"
Every F40PH fan in a 3200 mile radius: You are accused of anti- F40PH behavior, the court finds you guilty, and sentences for you to be shot.
or run over by an F40PH?
I'm a retired LIRR block operator. The DE/DM 30s are called Edsels.
I heard this from a yard master: The railroad waited to order more. EMD rep said "We're burning the plans as we speak."
ProgressRail and or DownerEDI also had a few variants made by GM aswell that had EMD locomotives some were narrow gauge but some were also standard gauge like the GT46-AC
YESSS THE GP40TC 👏 Also i love the little meme on the GP40TC HEP hehe
2:48 *that's what she said*
*this.*
6:35 *T H E M I L W A U K E E R O A D*
the KCS had lots of f3s, and f7s. and E9s....well a few E9s.
Thanks for noting the marvelous "steam whistle" on the FL-9.
Actually, it was a Hancock air whistle; it was powered by compressed air, not steam.
A I R
@@gusfring9895 Belated thanks for comment. That's why I put it in quote marks. Actually, what one could read in the sixties was that the steamwhistle-like sound was produced by an early version of an electronic horn, produced by way of a speaker that looked something like a bull-horn, visible in some photos. May not have been true of all FL-9's, which were produced in two batches of 30 units each, 1956 and 1960. Another unique feature of FL-9 was length, longer than just plain F's, shorter than E's, with two-axle truck front, three-axle truck rear. Fascinating locomotive.
I love the e/f units. And I live In Michigan near where the gmdh-3 is. You should make a edit of all the time you say mandated passenger variant
Illinois Central Railroad was the only railroad to buy the SD40A
i love the F45.
could you do a video about the current class-1 and or your favorite railroads, fallen or active?
I love seeing the sd40t-2’s!!! They still run a lot by my house
Here’s a lesson don’t trigger the f40ph 5:32
Nice video, Like !!!
will you be doing this for other company designs too?
4:27 true
I shall now be waiting for the GE version... (excited for B36-8!!!)
The audio quality is bomb
And there was the GP 38-3 as designed and built by the Huntington CSX Heavy Maintenance Shop. All electronic suite with enhanced tractive effort.
And an ugly cab
This video focused only on original-build EMD models, not all the assorted rebuilds companies have done over the years - if it included that the video would be an hour long. Though I'd be curious about his thoughts on the CF7 - would he like its functionality, or hate its looks?
@@quillmaurer6563 I sort of like the CF7. I'm not qualified to operate locomotives, but the biggest gripe I would have with the CF7 is the very narrow end platforms (plus the one at my local museum has had a number of radiator and head gasket issues).
Lmao 🤣🤣🤣🤣 cool video. Extremely enjoyable
5:40 *Insert Joke about relationships here*
*"W E ' R E O V E R ! ! 1 ! Y O U C H E A T E D O N M E I N M Y D R E A M ! 1 ! "*
5:32 The part where Halton being shot is so funny.
This video will be better then all of those and I see he knows the milluawke road meme a 6:35 Now we need to find a GE and Siemens and also you should do rolling stock maybe, Along with Electric Locomotives
What about their electrics? The GM6C or the AEM-7?
2:41 I may have actually been on that unit in Pittsburgh as a kid with my grandfather. Yard just east of Pittsburgh in the strip district. I need to find some pictures.
2:28, EMD Model 40
Heavy from TF2: *”YOU ARE SO SMALL!”*
I know where you got the pic of the GN NW5 from , it’s a picture from Duluth MN at the depot
My personal favourite is the ML2, also known as the Victorian Railways B class. They were way ahead of their time with bulldog noses at both ends and a co-co wheel arrangement, and they are still a common sight today
Turns out that GMDH-3 is actually in my podunk towns's tiny lil railroad, and was the only one built, and now has a nice powdercoat blue to emphasize the 50s vibes
5:18, The older GP’s reacting to the EMD GP15D & GP20D
And that deiseil shunter is looks like merged/a combined version of the GP20 and with the long-hood of the genset deiseil shunter
2:17 heh we still got one in frequent service up north on the Hobo RR.
Man EMD had a lot of good locomotives
And this genset deiseil shunters specifically GP15d and GP20d were rebuilt from older GP20s and GP15ts and GP15t-1s
2:28 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
*"YOU ARE SO SMA-"*
This was to good
YOUVE EARNED A SUB LOL
2:34 This one operated in my state (Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil)!
*"JEEZ WHY IS THAT THING SO LONG?!"*
I like the way I'm sitting at a restaurant less than 1 quarter of a mile from this locomotive 3:08 (Whitefish, MT)
I recommend that you make playlists of your videos
4:37 i almost got a stroke looking at that
SD70IAC: "why do we're exist anyway"
SD70ACE-P4: "so they make B-B wheel arrangement variant in the 6 axle locomotive"
the SD28-35 have the same body, except the SD28 uses a roots-blown 567C (I think 567C) compared to the SD35 using a 567D3. And ofcourse their respective passenger variants. Same with the GP line
I think a variant of this video with GE is now a requirement LMFAO
2:57 this is the diesel equivalent of the MILWAUKEE ROADS *BIPOLARS*
Any love for the GM6C and/or GM10B?
Gotta love those Canadian varient cab locos
More rolling line skit’s
And F40Ph based on GP40 albeit with full width body re-geared for passenger service and Head-end-power (HEP)
KCS had 4 rare SD40 X that looked like SD50S
The EMD SW1200 looks like someone put a big piece of cardboard in front of the radiator. Just like us in Michigan in cold weather. The car stays warmer
What about emd export version to sumatra indonesia?
